SOMEBODY TAME THIS ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Remus was tired. No, a better fitting word would be exhausted. Every bone and muscle in his body ached, throbbing painfully in protest whenever he even moved the slightest bit. His physical appearance was slightly out of the norm as well. While still looking as tired as he did on most days, he really did look a fraction worse. The bags under his eyes told of sleep deprivation, as well as the tuffs of sandy blond hair that stuck up in gravity defying ways that could challenge James’ own. As far as attire went, he had simply thrown on his school robes. His tie hung loosely around his neck.
And by all means, Remus should have been somewhere resting. In bed, or perhaps lounging in the comfort of the common room, or maybe even the hospital wing. But despite looking and feeling like utter crap, like he did after full moons, Remus was outside instead. He had just recently "returned" from going and visiting his "ill mother", or so that was the story that went around. Settled in the shade of the courtyard, he sprawled out beneath the large tree he could often be found beneath. It was his favorite after all. It was tall, with long branches complete with abundant green leaves that provided its surroundings with the cool shade he oh so loved. Lying on his stomach, he propped up his head with the palm of one hand, his elbow resting in the grass. In front of him lay an open book, a book on Charms, to be exactly.
There was something comforting about being outside on a nice day, reading a book. Even when he really didn’t feel well. The overall atmosphere was just too positive to not enjoy it. Especially with its silence. It was like the library, but bright, refreshing and clean crisp air. Not like the dull, old smell of a library. Not that Remus didn’t enjoy that smell either.
A cool breeze pushed past, causing his bangs to shift slightly, as well as causing the pages in his books to start flipping backwards. ”Bugger!” The teen snarled, his free hand shooting forward to land on the book with a thud. Tilting his head, he scowled slightly at the sky and waited a few moments to see if the breeze would return or not. After a few seconds he returned his tired blue eyes to the book and began flipping forward, skimming each page in an attempt to find the page he had been on. Normally it wasn’t such a hard task, and he kept constant note of what page number he was on, but a tired Lupin meant that certain things just were completely overlooked and forgotten. Like his dear page number.
A content hum escaped the Marauder as he successfully found the page after a few short seconds. He withdrew his hand, curling it against his chest. Much like a dog would tuck its paws into its chest when it slept. Unfortunately, after a good minute or so the infernal breeze returned and sent his pages flipping backwards once more. A growl of irritation escaped the teenager as he grinded his teeth, blue eyes narrowing and glaring at the book as if it was the books fault entirely. Its pages should have been heavier to keep them from flipping like that! Yes, that was the problem! With a grumble, Remus suddenly dropped his head on top of the book, forehead smacking into the inside of it with a thud. A loud, irritated groan escaped the tired teenager. Today was flat out just miserable.

Kacie was in an unnaturally good mood today. Nothing seemed to be able to bring her down, not even the most vulgar and hurtful of the occasional students daily tauntings. When curious others had inquired to her light mood, she had merely shrugged, stating that she didn't know. However, she knew the reason. That small, brief encounter with Sirius Black, and the promise of many more, had brightened her entire week. It felt as though they had connected, and, with the little stunt he had pulled in the Great Hall, he had felt it, too.
She now wandered the halls of Hogwarts with bright silver hair, a small smile on her face. She didn't know the countercurse, nor did she care, until McGonnagal had a word with her. She planned on meeting with him sometime tonight, however, to get him to remove it. The only question was how to get alone with him long enough to get the message to him without others noticing. Maybe she could Owl him.... No, she shook her head as she reached the ground floor. The owls of Hogwarts were too easy to recognize, and even if they weren't, his friends would surely ask why there was a strange looking owl pecking at their window while they were asleep.
Kacie soon found herself in the Front Courtyard, taking in the scenery as she breathed in the quickly fading summer air. There, beneath the shading of a tree, sat Remus Lupin, one of Sirius friends, a Seventh Year Gryffindor and Marauder. He sat in the shade, frowning at a book, until he finally slammed his forehead against the inside of the book with an audible thud and growled in irritation. As she walked forward, unsure as to why her feet were dragging her there, she chuckled, "Beating up a book won't do you any good." After taking in his sickly looking color and his tense frame, she asked with a bit less certainty, "Are you alright? I could help you to the Hospital Wing if you need it."

SOMEBODY TAME THIS ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Footsteps broke the utter silence of the courtyard suddenly. Someone else apparently had the same idea as him to come here. Though he doubted their reasons were the same. Most came out here to enjoy a meal in the sun, or to hang out with friends. Hopefully whoever it was wasn’t planning on a meeting with a group of friends. Then he’d have to get up and move to a more quiet place, more than likely the library. And well, that meant moving. Moving was on the bottom of his priority list right now. Remus planned to stay in the courtyard till the sun went down, if he remained unbothered. Highly unlikely though, because he knew that eventually the Marauders would come looking for him once they got bored, or needed help with homework.
The footsteps neared, and just as he lifted his head to see where they were headed, a voice spoke up. Remus peered upward through half lidded eyes at the girl standing before him now. She looked oddly familiar, at least her face did. Her odd colored hair made him wonder if she had been unfortunate to run into either Sirius or James. Most people didn’t have that shade of hair normally. After a moment her words finally registered in his brain, and Remus blinked at her a few times. ”No, I suppose you’re right..” He answered. It really wasn’t in his nature to abuse a book, either. But as things were, he was just in one of those ‘I really don’t care about anything’ sort of mood.
Remus frowned slightly at her question regarding his health. For a moment he pondering the possibility of returning to the hospital wing, but he really didn’t want to. Especially since he didn’t like taking help from others. ”No, I can assure you that I’m quite fine.” If only that were true. Remus could only hope she’d drop it and leave it alone. The last thing he wanted right now was to get into an argument over his own health.
Shifting his hands beneath him, Remus pushed his body up and shifted so that he was actually sitting up. It was much easier to hold a conversation with someone who was standing while you were sitting. The pain from craning his neck eased slightly, while the rest of the muscles in his body throbbed painfully at the sudden movement. Remus winced slightly, before forcing a smile onto his lips. Time for a good ol’ fashion topic change! ”That’s an interesting shade of hair color you have there. I expect that’s not natural, is it?”
Reaching down, Remus picked up his book and snapped it shut. There was no point in trying to read now that he had company. Besides that, he was sure the breeze would pick up the moment he opened it up to the page he had been on before. That breeze was definitely out to get him, or so he had come to believe. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Kacie smiled when she saw Remus' confused and curious gaze, struggling with all her might not to burst out laughing with mirth. ”No, I suppose you’re right..” He finally answered. She nodded in agreement, not really knowing what to say now. It must be strange for him to talk to a Slytherin. He was probably as hostil on the inside right now as Sirius had been that night at the lake when he first recognized her. Did all Gryffindors truly feel that much hatred for the Slytherin house? Regardless of who the person really IS? She recalled seeing Evans, the Head Girl, running about with Severus several years back, and he was the slimiest of all the gits. Surely not every Gryffindor felt quite so hostile about the idea of a Slytherin.
He frowned at her question, and she almost felt that she should comment when he said, ”No, I can assure you that I’m quite fine.” She thought about pressing the subject further, but decided it was best not to push him too far. She smiled instead, completely disregarding the past few statements and said, "So, er, what brings you out here on a day like this? Shouldn't you be with your friends?"
Shifting his hands beneath him, Remus pushed his body up and shifted so that he was actually sitting up. Remus winced slightly, before forcing a smile onto his lips. ”That’s an interesting shade of hair color you have there. I expect that’s not natural, is it?” Kacie laughed in response, before replying, "Unfortunately, no. I don't think the school would allow that. No, your pal Black decided that I would look marginally better with silver hair today." She leaned forward, a smirk on her face as her eyes sparkled mischeviously, "What he doesn't realize, however, is that silver happens to be one of my favorite colors. So I decided to enjoy it while it lasts." Of course this was a lie. Sirius Black knew Kacie's favorite colors, as well as a few other secrets that she prayed she would never tell his friends. No one needed to know anything about her besides him, and she didn't want to risk tainting the way others viewed him by hanging 'round a Slytherin.
She frowned as she pondered this, staring past Lupin, towards the trees not too far away. Thinking of having to sneak around wasn't what bothered Kacie - she actually found it somewhat exciting - it was the reasons behind it that made her meloncholy. She wished that she wasn't a Slytherin, that she wasn't someone that - by a general, unspoken rule - Sirius should hang around, let alone think of hanging around, as a friend or anything else. She couldn't be friends with anyone outside of her house, for the very same reason. She could be friends with no one in her own house due to her deep hatred of them. She was a lone wolf, in an ironic sense of the word. She was isolated from most of the population. There were a few people that didn't seem to care, but a few couldn't handle the loss of a few other *simple and unimportant* friends in replacement for a loyal one. As much as people would like to believe about Kacie, she was a very loyal friend. She would never betray them, as she would expect the same from them. If only everyone saw it that way.

SOMEBODY TAME THIS ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Aha, finally Remus realized why the girl looked so familiar. She was a Slytherin, which he had already realized. But not just any Slytherin, no. He recognized her from the Quidditch games. She was the Slytherin’s Seeker, making her twice as much of an enemy. Or at least it should have. Unlike the other Marauders, who seemed to have a great hatred towards Slytherins, especially with Quidditch, Remus wasn’t as discriminating. All his life he had been discriminated because of what he was, and it had taught him a good life lesson. Quite frankly, he could care less what house someone was from. Though he had long ago realized that Slytherin’s were rude, and had nasty attitudes. Remus was too passive to really play the ‘lets hate other houses’ game. Although he did have something against Serverus.
Remus was slightly surprised at her question. As far as he was concerned it was fairly obvious what he was doing. Wouldn’t the book in his hand tell that much? As if to make his point, he lifted the book and gave it a small wave. ”I’ve got a new book that I wanted to read.” And well, if Remus was to get any sort of reading done he had to be far away from his dear friends. He loved them to death, but they were the worst kind of distraction. Or the best, depending on how one looked at it. But Remus had long ago learned that reading around the Marauders was near impossible. ”Despite school belief, the Marauders aren’t together every hour of every day.”
A slight grin appeared on his lips. His hunch had been right in that Sirius was the culprit behind her crazy hair color. ”Actually, I doubt the school would really care what color hair you had, especially since there is the occasional Metamorphagus student..” He explained. The school seemed to have very few restrictions when it came to appearances, especially with how students came from all over the world, and from all sorts of magic backgrounds. ”Sounds like something Sirius would do..” It wasn’t the first, or last time he was sure, that Sirius would alter someones appearance for them. Remus had seen it happen far too many times. A small chuckle escaped the blond, ”Yes well, don’t let him find that out. He gets rather upset when he finds out a prank of his backfires..”
Yes, over the years he had seen far too many a backfired pranks. An upset James and Sirius was something he didn’t particularly enjoy dealing with. It was just too unlike them to not be bouncing around and being obnoxious. Remus did his best to chirp in hints as much as possible to keep the dynamic duo as happy as possible. After all, it was the least he could do for how much they went out of their way to make him happy.
Remus moved once more, this time moving so that he could rest his back up against the trunk of the tree he was under. The book was placed on the ground beside him, and his arms folded across his stomach. His gaze shifted from the silver haired girl before him, looking across the courtyard. It was still empty, aside from the two of them. ”So, what about you? What brings you out here?” Ah, there were so many things he could have added to that. ‘Shouldn’t you be off harassing a Gryffindor?’ There was a ton of snide remarks he could have said, but he didn’t. It would have been uncalled for, and out of character.

Remus stared at her as if she must be stupid, but before she could take offense, he lifted the book and gave it a small wave. ”I’ve got a new book that I wanted to read.” Kacie gaped at the thick book in his hand. "By choice?" She found herself demanding, "I apologize, but unless by Jane Austen or Anne Rice, I don't see the point. They're all filled with far too many large words and not enough pictures for my taste." She knew she probably sounded like Sirius right now - hell, he probably had the same view of books that she had, anyway - but she didn't truly care at the moment. Her thoughts were too full of the dark-haired-angel-in-disguise already; she could bear to refrain from thinking about him once.
”Despite school belief, the Marauders aren’t together every hour of every day.” Kacie rolled her eyes, "Yes, I can see that, otherwise I'd be hexing Black's hair pink right now." She smirked at the thought. Hmm. Sirius Black with pink hair. A charming thought, indeed. A slight grin appeared on his lips. ”Actually, I doubt the school would really care what color hair you had, especially since there is the occasional Metamorphagus student..” He explained. She shrugged in response. "I suppose there are a few prejudices in the school, then. McGonnagal asked me to change it back as soon as possible, seeing as it was 'a distraction among the student body'," she mimicked McGonnagal's voice perfectly, silently reminising the look on the old witch's face, the slight tug at her lips as she fought off a smile.
”Sounds like something Sirius would do..Yes well, don’t let him find that out. He gets rather upset when he finds out a prank of his backfires..” She smirked at Lupin. Little did he know, the joke was on him. This was all a light banter between she and Sirius, a secretive, playful chain of events and good-hearted jokes in order to let the other one know that they hadn't forgotten each other. She nodded, "Don't worry, Lupin, I won't. I will be sure, however, to get him back, so you might need to forwarn him...."
Remus moved once more so that he could rest his back up against the trunk of the tree he was under. The book was placed on the ground beside him, and his arms folded across his stomach. His gaze shifted from the silver haired girl before him, looking across the courtyard. It was still empty, aside from the two of them. ”So, what about you? What brings you out here?” Kacie sank to the ground, her feet growing tired, sitting indian-style on the cool, stone ground staring at the sky, watching the clouds roll by in a lazy way, with no cares in the world. Oh, how she wished she could be that carefree all the time. She replied, "I've no idea. Boredom, perhaps, I don't know. I only know that I followed my feet and found myself out here." Raising an eyebrow at Lupin, she inquired teasingly, "What about you? What brings one of the infamous Marauders - royalty of the school - out here? On a day like this?"

SOMEBODY TAME THIS ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Apparently his reputation as a book worm didn’t float around the school as well as he thought it had. Honestly, there wasn’t a day that passed that Remus wasn’t found with some sort of book to read. Almost always that book was one of history, charms or spells. Anything to further his knowledge. Remus prided himself in knowing a lot, not caring if he came off as some nerd or not. The fact that people came to him for help on homework or even just a question regarding something obscure only fed his little ego that he kept rather well hidden. ”I rather enjoy reading.” He answered. A small laugh escaped his lips, ”You sound like Sirius and James.” Those two never could understand his love for reading and always teased him for it.
”It wouldn’t be the first time, or the last I expect..” Remus remarked, after listening to her plans to hex Sirius’ hair pink. No, plenty of people had hexed that rambunctious Gryffindor. Including his fellow Marauders. ”Though from personal experience, pink is definitely not a good shade of hair color for him..neither is blue..” If anything the bright colors only fueled Sirius’ obnoxiousness by finally allowing his appearance to match his attitude. Remus, and many others, would agree that was a bad idea. Another chuckle escaped Remus as he watched Kacie mimic the teacher. ”Perhaps she’s just having a bad day..”
”Ah, no need. Sirius probably expects some kind of retaliation.” Most of the school had long ago learned not to retaliate against the Marauders if they happened to be the victim of a prank. A few remained however, that had the guts to stand up and prank back. Sirius and James loved it, because it gave them something to do, out of the usual pranks they pulled on a regular basis. As for Remus..well..as long as he wasn’t the victim of one of these pranks he could care less what they all did. No, more correctly, as long as his books or homework weren’t ruined..
Ah, that infamous ‘boredom’ that seemed to plague many people these days. Personally Remus wasn’t sure what it was. He kept himself so busy that he hardly ever was bored. If he wasn’t reading, then he was doing homework, or helping some student with homework, or helping the Marauders with a new prank. That or he was actually performing said prank. Or if it was a Full Moon..well..Remus was just never bored. ”I see..well I hope that you’ve at least found a momentary relief from this case of boredom?” If not, then Remus would be thoroughly insulted as well as confused as to why Kacie would still be sitting there if she was still bored. Granted, he knew he could be rather boring at times. Sirius and James made sure to let him know whenever he was.
Lifting his shoulders, Remus shrugged slightly, which was followed with a small wince as the muscles complained. ”I got tired of being inside, and I knew it’d be quiet out here, unlike inside. Especially the common room. Today is a perfect day to be outside..” He answered. His blue eyes crinkled at the corners slightly as he looked over at the girl with amusement, ”We’re only royalty because the school treats us so.” And how true that was..

”I rather enjoy reading.” He answered. A small laugh escaped his lips, ”You sound like Sirius and James.” She smirked at him. No doubt she did. She rolled her eyes, however, and said, "I'm sure you do. I shouldn't have been surprised; I see you lugging about several books every day. And as for sounding like Potter and Black, well....maybe I don't sound like them. Maybe they sound like me." She grinned wolfishly at him.
”It wouldn’t be the first time, or the last I expect..” Remus remarked, after listening to her plans to hex Sirius’ hair pink. ”Though from personal experience, pink is definitely not a good shade of hair color for him..neither is blue..” Kacie raised an eyebrow at the Marauder. "Lupin, Lupin," she sighed, shaking her head, "Don't you see? It isn't about how good a person looks with the prank; the point is to embarras them! Do you honestly believe that I look presentable with silver hair? What would embarrass Black more than waking up with Pink hair?
”Perhaps she’s just having a bad day..” he said, and Kacie shrugged, allowing it. Though, Remus wasn't there when she had had her encounter with Minerva, so he didn't know that she had actually been in a very good mood that day, offering her advice and telling her of how Dumbledore had requested her presence in his office. She had relayed the latest of her details of the Slytherin's plans to him just today, and, just like every time she told Dumbledore of their future evil deeds, she felt sick. Not for what she was doing; she hated the Slytherins more than anything in the world, but with the idea of what would happen should she be caught.
”Ah, no need. Sirius probably expects some kind of retaliation....I see..well I hope that you’ve at least found a momentary relief from this case of boredom?” Kacie shrugged, "No doubt that would cause a bit of a prank war between the other Marauders and I, but I do suffer from occasional boredom, and they'll amuse me until I find something better to do. And yes, I do believe I've found a momentary relief from boredom, as long as you prove to be someone worth having an intelligent conversation with."
Lifting his shoulders, Remus shrugged slightly, which was followed with a small wince as the muscles complained. ”I got tired of being inside, and I knew it’d be quiet out here, unlike inside. Especially the common room. Today is a perfect day to be outside..” He answered. Kacie smiled an agreeing smile. "I agree," she said, "Such a beautiful day, indeed...." His blue eyes crinkled at the corners slightly as he looked over at the girl with amusement, ”We’re only royalty because the school treats us so.” She rolled her eyes at the statement, "Perhaps you're right," she allowed, "They seem to worship the ground you walk on, and though it is quite amusing to see the girl's futile attempts to woo the Marauders, it does get tiring to see them pine after you lot all the time."

SOMEBODY TAME THIS ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Remus couldn’t help but grin, ”Someone has to lug them around. James and Sirius conveniently ‘lose’ theirs every so often..” God those two would be so lost without him around, really. Perhaps James might have made it this far, but he wasn’t so sure about Sirius. Remus was hoping that this year both would have matured enough over the summer to realize they needed to do their own work, and take responsibility. Though he doubted it. He wished the same thing every time September came back around. Each time he was disappointed. ”No, I don’t think so. Both of them have been here longer and are older. So you have to, by default, sound like them.”
The Marauder shook his head back at Kacie. ”Ah, but it takes much more than a hair color change to embarrass Black..” In all the years he had known Sirius, he had only seen him embarrassed once or twice. ”He’s got this uncanny ability to turn any situation to his advantage.” That he had seen far too many times. People tried pranking the Marauder back and they just looked like an idiot as the kid flipped it to his advantage. James had that ability as well, except for when it came to Lily. She was just about the only one that could really make a fool out of Potter. ”If anything he’d just start strutting around asking if his new hair made him look more handsome or not..and then rush down and start asking all the girls their opinions..or something to that effect..”
”Well in that case, you guys will all mutually benefit each other. They can cure their boredom by pranking you, and vice versa. And I’ll benefit because they’ll be busy bugging you so they’ll leave me alone! Splended.” Although he doubted he’d really get out of a prank war if one did explode. Any major sort of prank was always checked over with Remus, so he could fill in the finer details and make sure that their plans were full proof.
Remus laughed, and nodded his head in agreement. Sometimes it got annoying, what with the whole entire schools population of females wanting to jump into James and Sirius’ pants. But they had all long gotten use to it. And it was probably the cause of the large egos that both James and Sirius had now. ”Yes, I’ve heard many say that before. Not all girls, either. There’s a fair amount of the male population here that hates us. For good reason, I suppose.” Anything, or anyone, that was popular always had a group of people that disliked it or them. The reasons varied, of course. Though for the most part, Remus had concluded that most that disliked the Marauders was because they were envious. ”Luckily, I find that I’m not bothered all that much by the women here. Neither is Wormtail, for that matter.” Chuckling softly, Remus added one more comment, ”Then again he tends to cower whenever any woman approaches him..”

Remus grinned, ”Someone has to lug them around. James and Sirius conveniently ‘lose’ theirs every so often..” She offered him a small smile in response. Lupin really did care about his friends, and their well-being, for that matter. One could hear it in his voice, could see it in his eyes, just how loyal he was to them. If ever put in the situation, she guessed, he would be willing to die for them. ”No, I don’t think so. Both of them have been here longer and are older. So you have to, by default, sound like them.” Kacie smirked. He should know never to challenge her in something as inconsequential as this. She was stubborn when it came to proving a point, and he would learn that soon enough. "Yes, but for all you know, I could be from a different time," she stated wisely, "I could have come from a time long before Dumbledore himself, so techniquley, yes, they could sound like me. Besides," she pretended to sniff like a snobbish Ravenclaw, though a teasing smirk graced her lips and her eyes twinkled with child-like mischief,"I'm an original."
The Marauder shook his head back at Kacie. ”Ah, but it takes much more than a hair color change to embarrass Black..He’s got this uncanny ability to turn any situation to his advantage.” She merely smirked back at him mischeviously, "You ever heard of a Smirf, Lupin?" She asked, "How about a howler from an angry, fictional girlfriend for giving her crabs? Believe me, I'm a very creative person. Black isn't safe while I'm around." ”If anything he’d just start strutting around asking if his new hair made him look more handsome or not..and then rush down and start asking all the girls their opinions..or something to that effect..” Kacie frowned at that. Lupin was right, he probably would do something of the like. Either way those five-knut hussies would fall over each other at the sight of him, pink hair or not. She shrugged. "Oh, well. What do you think I've been doing all day? If he does what you say he will, then I'll have to sue him for plageurism." She teased.
”Well in that case, you guys will all mutually benefit each other. They can cure their boredom by pranking you, and vice versa. And I’ll benefit because they’ll be busy bugging you so they’ll leave me alone! Splended.” She raised a skeptical eyebrow at him. "You know they'll be dragging you into this, too. They're cheaters; it's what they do."
Remus laughed, and nodded his head in agreement. ”Yes, I’ve heard many say that before. Not all girls, either. There’s a fair amount of the male population here that hates us. For good reason, I suppose.” Kacie's face screwed up in disgust. She wasn't exactly homophobic, but she certainly didn't like the idea of boys coming onto Sirius, let alone the idea of Sirius or any of the boys she had met swinging that way. She thought that if they were gay, then they were gay, but she didn't want them making out in front of her. Relationships are to be kept private, in her opinion, and that's the way it should stay. No PDA in front of the entire school to grimace at, gay or straight. ”Luckily, I find that I’m not bothered all that much by the women here. Neither is Wormtail, for that matter.” Chuckling softly, Remus added one more comment, ”Then again he tends to cower whenever any woman approaches him..” Kacie's eyes narrowed at the name. Yes, she had heard of Wormtail. Also known as Peter Pettigrew, the filthy rat that tended to wander about the dungeons every chance he got without his little "buddies" finding out. She looked away from Lupin, not wanting to tell him just how much of a traitor his friend was. He wouldn't believe her, anyway. After all, she was only a Slytherin. Snide, rude, and dishonest in everyone's eyes. She rolled her eyes at his earlier comment, however. "Oh, please. The girls here are as obsessed with you as they are with Sirius and Potter. The only difference is, you push them away before they even get the chance to say 'How do you do?'" She hoped that he hadn't caught the slip in Sirius' name. It would be embarrassing for him to catch her in a lapse of judgement like that. It was Sirius in private, Black in public. She should remember this! Stupid girl!
But was it so wrong to feel like she was talking to a friend when she spoke with Remus?

SOMEBODY TAME THIS ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Oh boy, what had he just gotten himself into? Apparently Kacie was the type that would argue something till no end. Most girls were, actually, so he shouldn’t be surprised. Remus was ready to fight this till the end, or at least until he got bored of it. ”Well if you are going to play that game, then what if Sirius and James were also from a different time? One from before you, and Dumbledore?” Logically speaking, there was no way to tell if that were the case. A grin was on his lips again as he shook his head at her. ”Of course you are,” He teased back.
Remus shook his head once more. While her ideas were creative, he didn’t see them so much as embarrassing as reputation killing. ”The Howler idea probably isn’t a good one. Something like that would surely kill Sirius’ reputation. All the girls would start avoiding him if they thought he had something like that. And killing Black’s reputation is like inviting death into your home and feeling him cookies and milk.” Sirius really wouldn’t be himself without that womanizing reputation, after all. Each Marauder had their own little quirks they were known for, and that was Sirius’. James was known for chasing after Lily, as well as being on the Quidditch team. Remus was known for being the brains of the bunch, and Peter? Well he was just known as the little kid that was overshadowed by the other three. ”Oh, by all means, sue him to your hearts content then and take every last Galleon from him.” Remus said, laughing softly. It wouldn’t be the first time a girl had weaseled money out of Sirius’ pocket.
A heavy sigh escaped the Gryffindor as Kacie pointed out the obvious. ”Unfortunately. But I’ll at least get a bit to myself. They always try to sort things out themselves before coming to me for a solution.” A slender eyebrow rose, arching above his eye at the girl. ”Tell me, how is it cheating if I’m already part of the Marauders? It’s not like they went off and hired someone new to help or anything..”
Okay, so he had been caught red handed. Remus knew that while most of the girls at the school did flaunt over James and Sirius, he had quite a handful bounding over to him as well. That was the difference between them, though. Remus would rather deny it than brag about it, like Sirius would. But like Kacie also pointed out, he pushed the girls away instead of well..embracing their presence..like Sirius did. ”I don’t push them away.” Remus defended. While it might be true, he didn’t like the way that she had worded it. ”You make me sound like a git.” Which he wasn’t, of course. He tried his best to kindly let anyone that even showed the slightest interest in him that he wasn’t interested in a relationship. Someone like him, with the condition he had, he just couldn’t have a relationship. No way would it be possible. He had gotten lucky enough with his friends not pushing him away when they found out the truth.
And of course, Remus had caught the slight slip up in names. He was far too observant to not. All it caused was a twitch in the corner of his lips, causing a faint smile to appear. That was it, though. He wasn’t sure completely what it meant. Although he had an idea, he wasn’t going to even touch the subject. And that included asking or pondering about it.

”Well if you are going to play that game, then what if Sirius and James were also from a different time? One from before you, and Dumbledore? Of course you are,” He teased back. She raised an eyebrow at him; she could keep this going for a long, long time. "Okay, then. What if I were older than Merlin himself, no time-turner needed, no magical herb to make me young forever. What would you say then?" She challenged.
Remus shook his head once more. ”The Howler idea probably isn’t a good one. Something like that would surely kill Sirius’ reputation. All the girls would start avoiding him if they thought he had something like that. And killing Black’s reputation is like inviting death into your home and feeling him cookies and milk.” Kacie grinned at the idea of forcing the girls to stay away from him in that manner. She hadn't really thought of it that way, but found it soothing nonetheless. "Well, I'll be sure to keep my door open, with plenty of cookies and milk to go around." She replied, glad that it was the weekend. She could sit and talk with Remus as long as she liked without worrying about being late to classes. He seemed a nice enough bloke, trying to talk her out of doing things that could possibly cause harm to Sirius or his reputation, but he didn't realize that his reputation was already ruined, without anyone knowing about it, simply by allowing himself to make aquantances with a Slytherin.
”Oh, by all means, sue him to your hearts content then and take every last Galleon from him.” Remus said, laughing softly. Kacie chuckled as well. "No, I'm not a gold digger," she used the Muggle term freely, "I'll just make him grovel at my feet while I dangle Chocolate Frogs above his head mercilessly. I'm sure he'd learn his lesson then."
”I don’t push them away.” Remus defended, and Kacie raised an eyebrow skeptically at him, ”You make me sound like a git.” She sighed. "You're not a git," she informed him, "Otherwise, you'd embrace everything with a skirt that came your way, then forget about them after a good shag. No, I think you push them away because you're afraid of what might happen to the two of you. You wouldn't want to hurt her, hence you wouldn't want to hurt yourself from hurting her." She sighed, "That's why I think you do that. You hurt yourself by doing this before you get the chance to hurt someone else."

SOMEBODY TAME THIS ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - There apparently was no end in sight to this rather ridiculous conversation they were having. Which was fine by Remus, because it gave him something to do. Another plus was it was something that required someone of equal intelligence with logic to challenge him. ”I would say that what happens if there is someone older than Merlin, who is so old that nobody knows of his or her existence. How would you know if that person was or was not older than you?” Remus had quite a lot of practice with these silly little arguments. Sirius and James were always dragging him into them.
A chuckle escaped the Marauder. ”I hope you’re prepared for whats to come if you go through with destroying his reputation. I might actually have to warm him about that one..” He said, smirking a bit. What would Sirius be without all this girls following him around? An idea hit the Marauder, causing his smirk to grow. Ah yes, that idea would definitely come in handy later. What a prank that would make. It would take a lot of planning and bribing, but he was sure that with help he could pull it off.
A gold digger? Remus was familiar with the term, only because he was half blood. So his knowledge extended into the Muggle world as well. But if she were a Slytherin, why would she be using a Muggle term? Remus found that his thoughts were suddenly pulled back towards the topic as he heard the words ‘Chocolate Frogs’. It was well known that Remus was a complete and utter chocoholic. ”I’d steal them from him the moment he got back. If you ended up giving them to him, that is.”
The red warning light was flashing as Kacie nailed the truth dead on. Remus stiffened slightly, but not so much that it was obvious. This conversation was going in the wrong direction. If it continued it, he could be backed into a corner and then he’d be screwed. That was what happened when it came to James, Sirius and Peter figuring out his little secret. That and they had pressured and guilt tripped him. At this moment though, all Remus wanted was for a way to easily switch the conversation. Hopefully without making it too obvious that he was hiding something. Flashing Kacie a smile he said, ”Interesting idea. You’d make a good psychiatrist.” For a moment he went silent, musing over what she had said. It was depressing how utterly true it was. ”Or maybe I’m just not into girls. Maybe I’m gay. Or my body doesn’t produce the hormones I need to be interested in anyone.” While it seemed slightly out there, it was totally plausible. He had heard rumors about himself over the years that made it so.

”I would say that what happens if there is someone older than Merlin, who is so old that nobody knows of his or her existence. How would you know if that person was or was not older than you?” Kacie sighed, a small smile forming on her face. This was never going to end. Oh, well, she mentally shrugged, at least I get a good laugh out of it. She feigned an expression of cocky "wisdom". "I'd make sure that he had more wrinkles than I did."
A chuckle escaped the Marauder. ”I hope you’re prepared for whats to come if you go through with destroying his reputation. I might actually have to warm him about that one..” He said, smirking a bit. She shrugged. "I'm already looked down upon by everyone inside and outside of my own house. What's a retaliation going to make me lose?" It was true. Slytherins hated her, Gryffindors hated her even more, if possible, and the other houses were either too filled with self-pride or too afraid to associate themselves with her. The only friend she really had in the school was Sirius, though no one could know of that. She didn't want to ruin his image among the school, and she had a feeling that he didn't wish for her to be a target any more than she already was.
Kacie had learned many defensive spells throughout her years at Hogwarts. She was already in Advanced Defense Against the Dark Arts and Transfiguration with most of the Seventh Years. She was now experienced enough in both fields that she could very well defend herself among three or four people at once, both aloud and nonverbally. But she was no match for everyone attacking her on a regular basis. There was only so much she could do before she grew exhausted.
”I’d steal them from him the moment he got back. If you ended up giving them to him, that is.” She laughed. She knew she wasn't the only chocoholic at Hogwarts, but hearing that the responsible Marauder, the adult among the immature prats, was a child at heart at the mention of Chocolate Frogs. "How about I give you a few Chocolate Frogs before hand so that he won't bury your school books, or worse, your wand, for revenge?"
”Interesting idea. You’d make a good psychiatrist.” For a moment he went silent, probably musing over what she had said. Kacie grinned, "Yeah, I've been told that now and then," She said. ”Or maybe I’m just not into girls. Maybe I’m gay. Or my body doesn’t produce the hormones I need to be interested in anyone.” She raised an eyebrow in surprise, a smirk gracing her lips. She had heard the rumors many times before, the most outrageous one being that Remus was with Peter Pettigrew. She shuddered involuntarilly at the thought. She met Remus' gaze evenly, a mock-serious expression on her face. She leaned forward and patted his hand, "Is there something you're not telling me? Come on, I'm like the priest during Confession. It'll just be between you, me, and God." She hoped that he realized that she was only joking. She tended to do that from time to time and people actually took her seriously. Sometimes, she was greatful for this, for she had been able to help countless students from falling into good graces with the Dark Lord. She only hoped that Remus wasn't in the same position, as well.

SOMEBODY TAME THIS ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Remus grinned, thoroughly enjoying this. ”And what happens if they have better genes than you, and thus, age with grace?” He argued, knowing it was full well possible. There were plenty of people that aged well, and others that showed signs of aging as early as their teens. Usually it was just graying of their hair, but nonetheless, a sign of aging.
Remus fell silent for a moment, musing over what Kacie’s words. It wasn’t entirely possible for her house to dislike her; he knew well that a house could turn on someone, as unlikely as it was. Most houses were bonded quite well though, due to the personality traits that they shared in common. It must have been some major difference for Kacie to be looked down upon by her own house. ”That’s unfortunate. You don’t seem all that bad.” Blinking, his brows pushed together as he realized what he had just said. ”Ah.” Remus said after a moment, grinning once more. ”That’s why, isn’t it?”
In that moment all signs of how exhausted he was had washed away. Remus was almost positive that he looked like a small child who had just been given the most amazing thing in the entire world at that moment. It was a look he only got when someone said they would give him chocolate, or books. ”That’d be simply amazing.” He finally said. Amazing because he was going to get chocolate, as well as the fact that his books wouldn’t be buried or anything else.
To say the least, the Marauder was well caught off guard as his head was suddenly patted. It made him feel like a dog. For a moment he had to restrain himself from growling, as he would have if any of the other Marauder’s had done so. They were used to that. He doubted that Kacie had ever been growled at by someone. The corners of his lips curled, ”Everyone has their secrets.” He answered, despite knowing full well that she wasn’t looking for a real answer. Remus wouldn’t have given her a straight answer even if she had asked. Thankfully she wasn’t pushing at the topic like some people had attempted to in the past. Lily was getting extremely pushy this year and testing just how well the Marauders could lie about their whereabouts every full moon. ”God is against magic, last I checked, by the way..so isn’t a bit pointless to believe in him?”
