Kacie wandered the abandoned corridors of the castle with a sense of boredom. She was patrolling tonight, and she had grown used to the long, exhausting hours that it caused. The only time that patrolling was truly interesting was the occasional broom closet discovery or finding a hook-up in the astronomy tower. She was on the ground floor now, one of the most interesting floors, in her opinion, merely because it held the lovely, spacious Great Hall, and many of the ghosts seemed to enjoy spending their time on this floor in the late hours of the night, offering Kacie an occasional conversation that was somewhat interesting, in a sense. When she grew bored, however, she enjoyed straying from her duties, walking about the grounds and basking in the beautiful night scenery.
Deciding that it wouldn't hurt her to visit said grounds, she uncharacteristically left the corridor she was in currently, walking into the night. Oh, how she loved the grounds! The moon was bright and shining with grace, merely a few nights away from the fool moon. It shined upon her path, a lunar lamp lighting her way. She followed the familiar trail, knowing before seeing it herself that she was headed toward the lake. It was a beautiful sight at night, the black waters calm and peaceful in the somber silence. She stopped a few feet away from the murky waters, sitting down, her legs spread out in front of her. She leaned back, allowing her arms to fall behind her as she rested, smiling and closing her eyes as she allowed the moon to bathe her skin in its luminous glow...
She knew there was someone out there with her; she could feel it, sense it in her very bones. Without opening her eyes, she sighed. "I would take away points, but seeing as I'm breaking the rules, as well, I will not. Now show yourselves, please."
She knew it was uncharacteristic of the Slytherin facade, but she did not care. She was not a true Slytherin, nor had she ever been one. She just wished that others would see this; so that she wouldn't spend every waking day alone, unable to tell whether someone was truly her friend or not. She wanted to walk through the halls wearing a different color than the emerald which she had come to loath with a passion. She wanted real friends, not people that would talk behind her back. She wanted to talk to people outside of her own house without recieving glares. She hated it that, when she made a friend, they treated her like scum when around others, afraid of being friends with a Slytherin. She wanted piece of mind, not judgement before they even knew her middle name....

Sirius trotted through the grounds, a pretty blonde Ravenclaw hanging on his arm. She was a prefect, so it wouldn't hurt if another one caught them out late. He grinned over at her, his silvery eyes shining brightly in the dim moonlight. Moving towards the Forbidden Forest, Sirius pushed the girl up against a tree and then began to kiss her neck. His lips glided skillfully across her skin, sliding back over his teeth approvingly when she shivered. Running his hands up her leg, he grabbed onto her arse and smirked when she squealed. He hadn't asked her to come out here for any reason but to have a good time. What other use was this slut? She flirted with every male that walked past her, and this was all she was good for. As he began to unbutton her white shirt, he moved his mouth up to meet hers. His tongue danced around her teeth and she groaned almost desperately.
But, Sirius was just a tease. He had never had sex in his life, for he wanted to save that for the special woman that would be like Lily was to James. He only went far enough with girls to make them want more and then stopped, just for fun. He had enough years of practicing his control when he lived with his family to be able to do it. The blonde jumped up and then wrapped her legs around his waist. Sirius felt his control slipping as he felt a slight warmth run through his body. He needed to stop this soon before he did anything he would regret. As he put his hands underneath of her bottom so as to hold her up, he continued to kiss her quite furiously, before he heard something.
Because of his canine senses as an Animagus, he had inherited some of those when he had turned back into a human. His ears twitched and he nearly dropped the blonde. She stopped kissing him for a moment and then frowned at him. She was about to say something, but Sirius put her to her feet, his silver eyes spotting the figure of Kacie Helms near the lake. He could smell her a mile away. Turning to the Ravenclaw, he said, "What do you say we continue this tomorrow night?" He almost said her name, but he'd forgotten it. She looked disappointed, but Sirius squeezed her buttocks as a sort of promise that he'd continue this again. She giggled and then darted off back up to the castle.
Rolling his eyes, Sirius turned, strutting casually towards Kacie, his body in a frenzy for females. But, he knew nothing was going to happen. He didn't really like the girl, but he thought her to be quite pretty. She didn't have the blue eyes that he rather preferred, but she was still pretty. He kept his footsteps light and nearly cursed when she spoke. He grinned widely when she didn't open her eyes. With the agility of a professional, he knelt down beside her and then moved his body so that it was on top of hers but he was not touching her. Then, leaning close to her face, he whispered in his silky voice, "Breaking the rules doesn't really fit you, Helms. You should leave it to the professionals." He chuckled, the sound nearly like a bark. He moved his face away slightly, a little wary that she might sit up and bop him the nose.
But, he wanted to mess with her.

"Breaking the rules doesn't really fit you, Helms. You should leave it to the professionals." the masculine voice chuckled, the sound nearly like a bark. Her eyes opened wide in shock, taking in the sight of Sirius Black on top of her, yet they were no where near touching. He was so close to her that she couldn't see, feel, or smell anything but him. It was surprisingly intoxicating, but she refused to allow him to see that. He was only a player, out looking for someone to mess with. She could remember encountering him many times in the corridors of Hogwarts, even dueling him on occasion in response to his ignorant attempts at pranking her. She wasn't the smartest Slytherin in the school, but she was smart enough to know how to defend herself against the Marauders. Keeping her expression composed into one of shock, she demanded, "What are you doing out here, Black?"
Slowly, cautiously, so as not to touch him, she wriggled out from beneath him. When she had managed to do that succesfully, she went on. "Shouldn't you be off ruining some poor girl's virtue?" She wasn't exactly sure if the rumors were true or not, but she had heard many Sirius stories in her time at Hogwarts. He may be a year ahead of her and in Gryffindor, but Hogwarts was filled with nosy people that had nothing better to do than to gossip like old women. She allowed herself a glance at the sky. They were lovely; small, bright white lights illuminating the sky. It couldn't help but make her wonder what else was out there, and what possibilities this world could hold without such petty prejudices. She could faintly make out the constellation of Orion.
Merlin, Kacie was itching to run. She wanted to change, to turn into the large, snowy wolf of her animagus form, to run through the forest without a care in the world, to frolick, to play. She wanted to forget about the world, if only for a moment. She had actually thought of it all day, and had planned to after a bit of stargazing, but now that Black was here, she doubted she would get the chance. However, as she felt the cool, soft cushioning of the grass beneath her back, feel the moon's light bathing her skin, breathe in the fresh, clean air, she found she was content. She sighed. Oh, if only she could feel this at peace all the time. But, then, dreams and wishes to not always come true, do they?

Sirius's grin widened when her eyes met his. He liked her eyes, even though they weren't the blue he rather preferred. They were a classy brownish-green, but what he didn't like about them was that they were so distant and blank. He wanted to see what she was hiding beneath those eyes of hers. He watched her closely with the silver puddles of his eyes, gazing into her face as he tried to find some sort of attraction towards him in her expression. But, he knew that this would be hopeless for now unless he made the first move, which he never did. He only went after girls that were interested in him, but something about Helms . . . The fact that she was a Slytherin and that she hated him. It was so deliciously unacceptable that he wanted everything to do with it. He noticed that her face was still riddled with surprise, but he rather liked catching her off guard. He found it as a point for him. This round, he won. "I'm surprised you didn't smell me coming, Helms." He chuckled again.
Smirking when she maneuvered out from under him, he let his body fall to the ground, leaning on his side, his face held propped upwards in his hand. "It hurts me to know that you don't find me intoxicating, Helms." He slithered close to her, running his finger along her arm before leaning towards he ear and whispering, "What do I have to do to prove to you that I am God?" He was instantly back in his spot a couple of feet away from her, as if he had done nothing. He grinned and laughed loudly at her comment. Then, he contorted his face into one filled with fake sadness. "Is that what you think I do?" So the rumors were working. He could get as many girls as he wanted, and they thought that even if he didn't go all the way with him, he gave them enough indication that he wanted to. Even though he really didn't. They were all just little playthings to him, except for the ones that didn't want him. He saw them as more of a challenge. He watched her gaze alter up to the sky and then he grinned. He wondered what she was thinking about but did nothing but continue to stare at her. He didn't think she would have answered if he asked anyway, but she wasn't trying to get away yet. All was good.
"Why are you always alone, Helms?" Sirius stared at her, his silver eyes shining brightly. He didn't know why he asked it, but he felt he needed to. He'd never seen this girl with anyone save for a few Death Eaters when the most prominent ones were at school, like Bellatrix and Lucius. But, Kacie had been young then, simply a child. She still was a child wasn't she? And so was he. They were two people, desperate to make a difference in the world, but he was unsure about what she was going to do. He had heard she was going to be a Death Eater, but something about her eyes threw him off of that track. "Do you really want to join him, Kacie?" He'd never really called her by her first name before, but he wanted to get on a good relationship with her. He didn't know why, but he was starting to like this girl. Maybe they could be friends. Kind of like how Lily and Snivelly were friends, but this time it would better. This time, Sirius wouldn't be mean to her like Snivellus had done to James's Lils.
Sirius was going to make this work. Possibly. If he felt like it.

Kacie was very glad that it was dark out, otherwise he might have laughed at her. Her cheeks flushed crimson under his scrutinous gaze. She felt uncomfortable, exposed, as if he could see all of her secrets beneath the flimsy veil that was her cool facade. She struggled with her composure, not sure, and unwillingly suceeded. For some reason, she wanted him to know her, but she could not risk it. He was a Gryffindor, after all. He probably hated her already. Sigh. She hated being a Slytherin. She frowned at him as he began chuckling once more. "I'm surprised you didn't smell me coming, Helms." Kacie rolled her eyes at the Gryffindor's comment. "I'm surprised you actually took a bath," she retorted with a teasing smirk. "Usually, I can smell you from a mile away."
Smirking when she maneuvered out from under him, he let his body fall to the ground, leaning on his side, his face held propped upwards in his hand. "It hurts me to know that you don't find me intoxicating, Helms." He slithered close to her, running his finger along her arm before leaning towards he ear and whispering, "What do I have to do to prove to you that I am God?" She couldn't help it. She guffawed. "Wow. Someone's full of themself." She chuckled, resisting the urge to grab at her ribs in an effort to stop laughing. He was instantly back in his spot a couple of feet away from her, as if he had done nothing. He grinned and laughed loudly at her comment. Then, he contorted his face into one filled with fake sadness. "Is that what you think I do?" Kacie raised a skeptical eyebrow at him, daring to say that he behaved otherwise. She knew it wasn't right to listen to rumors, after the way she had been complaining to her inner monologue about how prejudiced the students in the school were. Hell, half the school probably thought she was already a Death Eater, when she was really working for Dumbledore in secret. She sighed, the sight of the stars soothing her for a moment. "It's strange, isn't it?" she spoke, more to herself than to Sirius. "Not knowing, but feeling that there's something out there, y'know? Just waiting to be figured out."
"Why are you always alone, Helms?" Sirius stared at Kacie, his silver eyes shining brightly. She blinked, dazed. Then, remembering what he had asked, she replied bitterly, "Because the people that I would prefer to hang out with don't favor Slytherins too much." She knew he probably thought her a Death Eater, and it made her sick. She didn't want to be seen as a lie. Oh, how she longed to be in another house. She would proudly stand in Gryffindor, live up to the name, if she could. She would strive to be as clever as one can be in Ravenclaw, an earn her wings. She would deal with the dullness of Hufflepuff, and become the most invisible among the crowd. No. Instead she was a Slytherin, and by being one, she was hated by everyone before they truly met her. She was hated by the Slytherins because she hated them and their beliefs, the fact that she was a muggleborn not helping, though she refused to allow that secret to slip among the Snakes.
"Do you really want to join him, Kacie?"
Kacie stared at the Marauder in shock, first at the sound of him calling her by her first name - her name fell from his lips so beautifully, as if the simple word were ment to tumble from his mouth - then from the realization of what he had just asked. "I...er, it's not really in your place to ask, now is it?" she replied, cursing herself for not being in control of the situation. If he had been a Slytherin, she would have lied on the spot to cover her tracks, but this was a Gryffindor, and someone that she felt she was beginning to find decent. In truth, it really wasn't any of his business, and she didn't want him to tell everyone where her loyalties truly lied and ruin everything for her. But he looked so sincere when he had asked it, and for some reason, she didn't want to lie to him, didn't want him to hate her like everyone outside of Slytherin house seemed so willing to do.

Sirius was unhappy that he couldn't really see her face due to the darkness that surrounded him, but he felt a sort of heat resonate from her body that he couldn't really explain. He chuckled at her witty comment back to him and said, "Well now, what if I said I did it all for you?" He had really done it for that blonde Ravenclaw, who he wondered a lot if she should even be in that house. He thought she was stupider than a box of chocolate frogs. Grinning at his thoughts, Sirius chuckled again and then muttered, "Come on, Helms, you know you like the way I smell." He waved his hand in front of her nose, as if that would give off his scent better, even though he was simply trying to be foolish. He wanted to see her smile, not give him that smirk.
Grinning widely as she laughed, Sirius watched her, his silver eyes glistening brightly in the moonlight. He moved to his back, situating his arms behind his head in a relaxed pose. Then, he noticed that part of his shirt was unbuttoned, revealing quite a bit of his chiseled chest. He smirked but did nothing to close it back up. He would've like to rip it off right then and there, but he knew he couldn't. Not with Helms. At least not yet anyway. "If you aren't full of yourself, then what are you, Helms?" He smirked over at her, wondering if she was very confident in her appearance. He liked it, but he was a guy. He liked what all girls looked like. Sirius said nothing at her raised eyebrow, for he didn't want to tell her of his virginity. He wasn't embarrassed of it, he just figured that if girls didn't think he was experienced, they wouldn't come to him in masses like they did. "I bet you're intimidated, Helms," he whispered, licking his lips in a sloppy way. Then, he chuckled once more, trying to simply be amusing to her.
Sirius turned to her when she spoke, his grey eyes watching her lips move with her words. She had nice, full lips. He looked for that in a girl. Thin lips weren't as fun to him. "Hm? That you find me so devastatingly handsome?" he whispered, smirking as he waited for her to continue. He blinked a couple of times at her statement, a little surprised at its vagueness. Nodding softly, he said, "Yeah, but you have to be brave enough to meet it head on." He grinned. "Besides, most people go through life seeing nothing except what is straight in front of them. That's boring to me, though. I want to see everything." He felt childish in saying that, but it was true. Although he wanted to be an Auror, he really wanted to travel the world. If he'd stayed with his family, he would've had the money to do so. He was thankful to go on vacations and such with James' family. They were such great people. Sometimes, he was jealous of his best friend for having such great parents.
Watching her dazed expression, Sirius looked away from her, hating her tone. It was just a question, there was no need for her to get all bitchy about it. "Calm down, Helms. I wasn't trying to make you upset." His head turned to look at her again and he gave her a reassuring smile. Although he liked playing pranks on people, he could be nice. He could be a real gentleman if he felt like it. "I don't like Slytherins that much, mainly because I've yet to find one worth talking to." Then, he looked at her suggestively. "But, you seem alright to me." He didn't like her a lot, he just thought her to be quite intriguing. She was mysterious, for there was something behind her eyes that he wanted to know more about. He looked at her knowingly before whispering, "You know, by being in Slytherin, in a place you don't feel you belong, you can make the biggest difference." He didn't elaborate, for he wanted her to simply ponder about what he said.
Sirius gazed back at her when she stared at him, grinning like a hyena. But, an attractive one. He saw a glimpse of pleasure flash through her eyes and he allowed his smile to turn into a smirk of approval ever so slightly. He shrugged at her when she gave him a sort of reply and then said, "It's not my place to do a lot of things, Helms." He turned his gaze back up to the stars. "But, that doesn't stop me." He allowed his silver eyes to find her face once more and he measured her expression. Shocked, about what? What was she so surprised about? Hadn't a lot of Slytherins asked her that before? He chuckled and then said, "Just because I asked you something doesn't mean you have to answer it. That's what free-will is, Helms." He blinked. "Well, unless I was Bellatrix, then I'd just make you answer me." He chuckled, an overwhelming disgust leaking into his eyes at the mention of his most dreaded cousin. "I swear she was dropped on her head one too many times as a baby . . . She's always been so brutal." Sirius sighed. "Even as a child, she was a monster. I remember one day when I was just five and Andy was playing outside with me. Trixie was chasing Cissy around their grounds and then Trixie stopped." Sirius cringed. "The look in her eyes when she crept closer to the butterfly Andy and I were examining on a flower . . ." He swallowed. "Trixie made it burn . . . the wings and everything. Andy tried to stop her, but it was to no avail." He paused again, Bellatrix's laugh erupting into his brain. "When she giggled, it was so wicked . . . for a seven year old . . . She's a monster. I don't understand how Rodolphus could possibly stand to be around her." He blinked, wondering why he had told her that story. He'd just felt comfortable, he supposed. Grinning, he looked at her.
"Sorry, just tell me to shut up if I'm annoying you. I just thought you'd like to know my first memory as a child." He laughed, obviously thinking it was funny when he really didn't. His chuckle faded and he sighed, hating what Bellatrix had made herself to be. So much potential and so much cleverness . . . All wasted on her insanity.

Kacie tried and failed to resist the urge to smile at the sound of his amused chuckle. It was a deep, throaty, masculine sound, and it caused goosebumps to rise on her arms. "Well, now, what if I said I did it all for you?" She raised an amused eyebrow at the Seventh Year, and replied, "I'd ask how your evening went with Spinnet. Otherwise I'd have to question your sexuality." She grinned. Spinnet was on of the many idiotic blondes that inhabited Ravenclaw house. She was pretty, yes, but she was also easy. And the fact that she wore enough perfume to smother a puppy made it a dead give away as to where Sirius had been in the past fifteen minutes. He reeked of Women's Bewitched. "Come on Helms, you know you like the way I smell." He muttered. She rolled her eyes at him. "Sorry, Black, but if I wanted to smell like a five-cent streetwalker, I'd be the one dowsed in that retched perfume. Not you." In fact, she rather prefered the perfume she wore at the present time. It was a Muggle brand, but it still smelled lovely. Obsession for Women. She wrinkled her nose in a teasing way as he waved his hand in front of her nose. "Put that away," she chided half-heartedly, a small smile playing on her lips. "I don't know where that's been."
Grinning widely as she laughed, Sirius watched her, his silver eyes glistening brightly in the moonlight. As he moved to lay on his back, situating his arms behind his head in a relaxed pose, Kacie couldn't help but wonder why her amusement seemed to make him smile. Was it her, or was it the need to make people smile to give him a sense of hope in this dreary world? She noticed that part of his shirt was unbuttoned, revealing quite a bit of his chiseled chest, and looked out to the lake quickly, mentally chastising herself for her sudden urge to touch him, to see if - as he had mentioned teasingly earlier - he was a real person, or, in fact, a god. He smirked at her, but did nothing to close his shirt back up. She resisted another urge, a stronger urge, to rip off said shirt herself, for she knew she couldn't. Not with Black. He probably didn't like her at all, anyway. "If you aren't full of yourself, then what are you, Helms?" That damned smirk again. Lucky she was already laying on the ground, or else her legs might have failed her. Plastering a smirk on her face, she replied. "I like to think of myself as modest but aware. I don't want to appear to cocky, now, do I?" In all honesty, she really was modest. The only difference between her and every other modest and intensly shy girl at Hogwarts, however, was the fact that she didn't want to be like them. She also didn't want to be like those idiotic bimbos in Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. So now she was stuck somewhere inbetween. "I bet you're intimidated," he whispered, licking his lips in a sloppy way. She chuckled in amusement. "It's kinda hard to be intimidated by someone with spit on their lips."
"Hm? That you find me so devastatingly handsome?" He whispered, smirking at her. Kacie offered him a small smile, then continued. She was not surprised to see his reaction. Nodding softly, he said, "Yeah, but you have to be brave enough to meet it head on." He grinned. "Besides, most people go through life seeing nothing except what is straight in front of them. That's boring to me, though. I want to see everything." Kacie grinned. "Exactly!" She exclaimed, "I mean, Auror training and the war will detain it for awhile, but I really want to see more than London before I turn twenty. So far I've only saved enough for my Mum, Thomas and I to visit three countries, but I'm getting there." She didn't know why she was telling him so much, but it felt right somehow. Her face adopted an expression of longing. "I can't wait to see the eifel tower, to drink French caffiene and make fun of the European women that don't shave." She sighed, struggling to keep her expression composed, laughing her arse off on the inside.
Sirius looked away from her, and she hated it. She knew she had been bitchy, but...wouldn't he be the same way, were their roles reversed? "Calm down, Helms. I wasn't trying to make you upset." He turned to look at her again and gave her a reassuring smile, and she began to return it, when he spoke again. "I don't like Slytherins that much, mainly because I've yet to find one worth talking to." Then, he looked at her suggestively. "But, you seem alright to me." She gave him a melancholy smile. "Just don't mention my house anymore, all right?" She felt uncomfortable as he gazed at her knowingly. He whispered, "You know, by being in Slytherin, in a place you don't feel you belong, you can make the biggest difference."
Sirius gazed back at her when she stared at him, grinning like a hyena. But an attractive hyena, in her opinion. His smile turned into a smirk of approval, and she wondered what he'd read in her expression to make it appear. He shrugged at her when she gave him a sort of reply and then said, "It's not my place to do a lot of things, Helms." He turned his gaze back up to the stars. "But, that doesn't stop me." He allowed his silver eyes to find her face once more and he measured her expression. Kacie didn't bother to comment, for she had a feeling that what she wanted to say would only start an argument. Andy tried to stop her, but it was to no avail." He paused again. "When she giggled, it was so wicked . . . for a seven year old . . . She's a monster. I don't understand how Rodolphus could possibly stand to be around her." He blinked, then adopted a happy expression, one that Kacie knew was just a mask. He grinned at her.
Kacie stared at Sirius with a mixture of horror and awe. Horror for what Bellatrix had done, and awe for Black's courage to tell her something as personal as this. She frowned as he reached the end of his tale. "Trixie and Rudolph," she sneered the name with disgust, "deserve each other. I just hope she kills him before he beats her to the punch." "Sorry, just tell me to shut up if I'm annoying you. I just thought you'd like to know my first memory as a child." He laughed, obviously thinking it was funny when she didn't at all. His chuckle faded and he sighed. Kacie glanced over at Sirius, her eyes understanding. Sighing, she said, "One summer, when I was fourteen, my younger brother and I were in my room, talking. I don't remember what it was about, probably something I learned in school; I only remember that we hid in there when it was just us and my dad there." Her eyes grew dark, the memory returning with frightening clarity. "Of course, it didn't work. He yelled at us from downstairs to get him a beer, even though he was sitting in his reclyner, two bloody feet away from the kitchen." She sighed. "We went downstairs, and I went to the fridge. Next thing I knew, there was screaming. I saw my brother's head covered in blood, my father the one giving the blows, and I yelled at him to stop. He hadn't done anything wrong. It wasn't until he threw an empty bottle of Jack Daniel's at me that I remembered something." She looked Sirius dead in the eye, her eyes hard and filled with unadulterated hatred towards her father. "I only pointed my want at him. I told him he would never lay a hand on me, my mother, or by little brother anymore. He died of a heart attack that day." She gave a half-hearted chuckle, returning to the present. "Is it horrid to say that I'm glad he's dead? That my only regret with that man was that he didn't die sooner?"

Sirius's grin widened when he finally saw it. A real smile floating onto her face. He tilted his head to the side, moving his hand towards her lips quite softly. With a whisper full of velvet, he said, "There. That's better. I was beginning to think that you were incapable of smiling, Helms." He smirked, noticing the goosebumps on her arm. "Are you cold? You can have my shirt if you'd like." He chuckled, having really meant it. He raised his eyebrows as she spoke of the Ravenclaw that he had been making out with earlier. "Oh, so that was her name!" The corner of his mouth twitched upwards and he smiled again. He laughed loudly, the bark nearly taking complete control over his chuckle at her insult towards the Ravenclaw. "Is that jealousy I hear?" He knew it wasn't. He had the same opinion about Spinnet as Helms did. He was just looking for some fun. He chuckled again, the hearty laugh echoing across the grounds. "I was unaware that you could be this amusing, Helms." In an instant, he was on top of her again, his face very near to hers, their noses almost touching. He closed his eyes for a moment, leaning his face close to her neck and breathing in her scent. "I must say, you smell considerably better than her." Then, just after his breath hit her skin, he was off of her, staring up at the stars once more.
Noticing a slight desire flash through her eyes, Sirius grinned, his teeth shining brightly. It seemed as if the smile would stay on his face forever, but he didn't mind. He rather preferred smiling, especially in a time like this, when everyone was getting killed. He figured that was why he and James got such a kick out of pranks. They both wanted to see the joy in a darkened world. "I consider cockiness to be bloody sexy in a girl." He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively, silver eyes flashing brilliantly. "But, then again, too much arrogance can get you into a lot of trouble." He gestured towards himself. "After all, I'm nearly continuously surrounded by multiple women that won't leave me be, but I have yet to find the one that really means something to me. Like Lily means to James." He grinned cheekily over at her, apologizing with his eyes. He hadn't meant to share that, but he doubted Helms would tell anyone. She didn't exactly have that many friends . . . None at all, if he was aware.
"It just makes them more alluring," Sirius said, biting his lips in a sort of suggestive way. Then, he grinned. His heart pummeled when she smiled again and he wanted to touch her mouth, to feel the smile form. He blinked when she spoke. "So, you're going to be an Auror?" His tone was etched with surprise, but he rather liked that she was going to do that, if she meant it. It was what he was planning on doing. He smiled at her passion and determination. "Where do you really want to go?" He was about to say the place he wanted to go to the most, but he wanted to get to know her, not blabber about himself. His eyes lit up when she mentioned the Eiffel Tower. Smirking, he whispered, "Parlez-vous français, mademoiselle?" He grinned. He knew a little bit of French. His parents had spoken a little bit of it. He chuckled. "I quite prefer smooth skin to hairy, myself." He grinned over at her.
Sirius sighed at her and then frowned when she said not to mention her house. "Be proud of it, Helms. Just because the other Slytherthings don't like you nor do many other people, doesn't mean that you have to look down upon your house. Maybe the Sorting Hat saw potential in you to change the quota for that house." He shrugged, trying to make her feel better. "After all, Andromeda's in that house and I love her to death. You can't all be bad." He chuckled. Then, he noticed her expression after he told her his tale. It was a little disconcerting when he read the horror. Apologetically, he said, "Sorry, I shouldn't talk about her. She's too vile to be mentioned." He laughed darkly. He grinned at the nickname of Rodolphus. "I must say, I've yet to hear that. I'll have to remember that the next time I have the displeasure to see him." He shivered slightly. "Actually, and this may sound odd to you, I think she loves him." He made a disgruntled facial expression. "I find it highly disturbing, but he really is the only man that can stomach her, besides Voldemort of course." He glanced over at her as he said the name of the Dark Lord, wondering if she would be afraid.
As she begin to speak, Sirius moved to lean on his arm again, his eyes never leaving hers. When she mentioned her brother, Sirius noticed a lightness come about her face and jealously leaked into his veins. He wished he could still talk to Regulus. He missed him so much, but he couldn't talk about it to anyone. No one understood how he could possibly want to talk to the brother that wouldn't leave his family with him. Then, the darkness that encompassed her eyes at the mention of her father made a shiver tingle down Sirius's spine. He frowned, listening closely to her tale with a sort of sadness. He hated his parents, but he it wasn't because they had been violent towards he or Regulus. Just because they were supportive of Voldemort. His eyes flashed hatefully when Kacie mentioned the blood and screams of her brother. When she turned to look at him, he was surprised at the sternness and audacity of those dark eyes. He sighed when she chuckled, a little disconcerted at the sound. "I'm sorry, Kacie." He moved his hand slowly and then placed it on top of hers. He gave it a light squeeze, before flashing a smile. He shook his head, many times remembering the times he had wished for his own father's death, but he never would have done it. He loved his parents, to an extent, but he hated them for being so cruel to the core. "No." He gave her another grin.
Then Regulus's face flashed through his mind and his hand slid away from hers.

Sirius' grin seemed to widen when she smiled, and that only made her want to smile even more. He had an enchanting smile, wide, beautiful, with a hint of mischeviousness hidden in its depths. Much like Kacie, her mother had mentioned once, when she got a crazy idea in her head. But that only happened once or twice with her mother, like when she decided to become an animagus. She did it for both her mother and brother's benefit, so that she could protect them, even when they thought she was not around. He tilted his head to the side, moving his hand towards her lips quite softly. She held her breath, waiting. With a whisper full of velvet, he said, "There. That's better. I was beginning to think that you were incapable of smiling, Helms." She gave him a small smile, and replied, "I'm only incapable of smiling when there is no one worth talking to. You seem interesting enough to me." He smirked, and she could have hit herself when he noticed the goosebumps on her arm. "Are you cold? You can have my shirt if you'd like." He chuckled, and she looked away from him, at the lake, so that he wouldn't see just how touched she really was by his statement. She had never been offered a jacket by anyone to keep warm, let alone a shirt. But then again...Sirius was probably just playing the part of the gentleman. It didn't mean anything. "No, I'm alright," she said, "I practically live in a meat locker when I'm home over the summer, so I'll get used to it in a moment." The thing was though, it wasn't the cold that was causing the goosebumps. It was Sirius Black. "Oh, so that was her name!" The corner of his mouth twitched upwards and he smiled again. He laughed loudly, a bark of a chuckle hat made Kacie smile in response. "Is that jealousy I hear?" She smirked at his playful tone. "You'll never know," she replied. He chuckled again, the hearty laugh echoing across the grounds. "I was unaware you could be this amusing, Helms." In an instant, he was on top of her again, so close she had to press her back against the grass, but it made no difference. His face was very close to hers, their noses almost touching. He closed his eyes for a moment, leaning his face close to her neck and breathing in her scent. Her eyes closed, wanting, needing to feel his lips against hers, against her skin. "I must say, you smell considerably better than her." Then, after feeling the warmth of his breath on her neck, he was gone. She opened her eyes to the sight of him being in the same position he had been in before. On his back, staring up at the stars. Surprising herself, she laughed. Laughed until her ribs hurt and she held her sides desperately. "I never...though," she gasped, "That a...Hufflepuff...would be right!"
"I consider cockiness to be bloody sexy in a girl." He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively, silver eyes flashing brilliantly. "But, then again, too much arrogance can get you into a lot of trouble." Kacie laughed. "Well, you might find cockiness enchanting, but you'll have to put up with my modesty. I can't change that part of my personality." She was a girl that didn't care was others thought, for the most part, a girl that wouldn't change herself for anything, much less a boy. Unfortunately, if Sirius was one of those guys, then maybe she had thought wrong of him. He gestured towards himself. "After all, I'm nearly continuously surrounded by multiple women that won't leave me be, but I have yet to find the one that really means something to me. Like Lily means to James." He grinned cheekily over at her, apologizing with his eyes. What would he have to apologize for? She smirked knowingly at him. "The Head Girl?" She questioned amusedly. "I swear, those two will have at least one child in five years' time. I used to think that she needed to get that stick pulled out of her arse, but it seems that Potter's finally done it, eh? She's a lot more cheerful these days, since..." She trailed off, not wanting to get into the incident with Severus Snape when she was in fourth year, after the Marauders had taken their O.W.L.s. "I know what you mean," she said softly, by way of changing the subject, "I'd love to be able to feel for someone that much, you know? To find a bloke that I could honestly say I loved, and know he loved me back." She stared at the stars, feeling a strange sense of loneliness. She sighed wistfully. "But reality always kicks in sooner or later. Even if it did happen for me, what would I do if I lost him? What would he do if he lost me? I..." She took a deep, calming breath, then shook her head. She couldn't bear the thought of losing someone she loved. Others might consider her weak for doing so, but in her opinion, losing someone you loved was the most painful thing to go through in ones life. "I don't think I'd be able to handle it."
"It just makes them more alluring," Sirius said, biting his lips in a sort of suggestive way. Then, he grinned. Kacie suddenly felt a sharp, painful tug in her chest, and hoped that Sirius could not hear the stutter in her heartbeat. She could see why the girl's were so infatuated with him. He was Prince Charming on a stick. She smiled. "So, you're going to be an Auror?" His tone was etched with surprise, but she was expecting this. She nodded patiently, as if he were a child. She had a feeling this might irritate him, but when one asks ignorant questions, they shall recieve ignorant - or rude - answers. "Where do you really want to go?" She grinned at him, repying with the simplest answer. "Everywhere," she replied excitedly, "The world may be too large, and life may be too short, but that's what I want. There are just too many places that hold so many secrets! I'm not one of those crazed adventurers or anything, but when I get that feeling - like there's a balloon lodged in my chest - I listen to it. I'm going to travel, and dance, and sing for spare change if I have to. But I will do it." Kacie often got passionate when it came to subjects such as these. She loved the idea of traveling. She wanted to see the Great Wall of China, visit the pyramids of Egypt, ride along the River Nile. She wanted to eat Chile's most popular dish, and climb the highest mountains to the Inca's empire. Smirking, he whispered, "Parlez-vous français, mademoiselle?" He grinned, a look of sheer delight that Kacie gladly returned. "Oui, Monsiour." She replied with an impish glint in her bright green eyes. He chuckled. "I quite prefer smooth skin to hairy, myself." He grinned over at her.
Sirius sighed and frowned at her. "Be proud of it, Helms. Just because the other Slytherthings don't like you nor do many other people, doesn't mean that you have to look down upon your house. Maybe the Sorting Hat saw potential in you to change the quota for that house." He shrugged. Kacie snorted. "Yeah, so says the Slytherin-hater," she replied, "You want to know why I got sorted into Slytherin? Because I was a stupid, naive little girl and asked the hat to put me there!" She scowled at the lake. "Green had been my favorite color, ever since I was a little girl. The only reason I even liked my eye color was because it was green. The hat had been stuck on my head for a long time, and it had narrowed it down to Gryffindor or Slytherin. I just looked around the room, saw a table decorated in beautiful emerald colors, and I thought. Oh. How lovely. I want to sit there. And that was that." She sighed. "I got into Slytherin because that's what I asked the hat for. Why do you think you got in Gryffindor? Your bravery? That's aquired over time, Black, not at the drop of a dime." Kacie bit her bottom lip to keep it from trembling. "I'd only been there for an hour or two, tops, before I ran to Dumbledore, begging him to put me in a different house, but he said that it was too late. It was out of his hands." She didn't add the part where Dumbledore suggested she help out the Order in their cause to stop the rise of Lord Voldemort. No. She wouldn't tell him that just yet, if not ever. "After all, Andromeda's in that house and I love her to death. You can't all be bad." He chuckled. She did not. "Adromeda was the only one that was nice to me in that place. I remember. She used to scare me, because she looks so much like Bellatrix, but then she started dating Ted Tonks, the muggleborn, and they bothered her nearly as much as they bothered me." Apologetically, he said, "Sorry, I shouldn't talk about her. Kacie shuddered. Impossible. That couldn't possibly be called love. It was too...unnatural. Too unsettling to be called love. "I find it highly disturbing, but he really is the only man that can stomach her, besides Voldemort of course." He glanced over at her as he said the name of the Dark Lord, obviously wondering if she would be afraid. She shrugged. "Honestly, I think the bloody old codger made a mistake in recruiting Bellatrix. She's no good, and all she does is dotes on him. Maybe that's all she is to Voldemort. Someone to recieve attentions and praise from. He's nothing more than a coward in a sorcerer's body."
"I'm sorry, Kacie." He moved his hand slowly and then placed it on top of hers. It was warm, firm, and comforting to the touch. He gave it a light squeeze, before flashing a smile. He shook his head. "No." He gave her another grin. Then a strange, heart-wrenching look flashed across his face, and he pulled his hand away from hers. Sensing what was wrong, she leaned forward, taking his hand in two of hers. "You know," she said softly, "I sometimes think that Regulus has second thoughts. He's different from the others; he's just in a difficult place right now. The only thing you can do is to have patience, and be there for him when he needs a role model. He'll come around, Sirius. I know it."

Sirius smirked when he noticed that for a moment she stopped breathing, but he didn't touch her mouth. It was too soon for that. He didn't want to scare her away, after all. Was it possible that he could have a friend in a girl without looking for a good time? He grinned. "Touché, Helms." His silver eyes continued to measure her expression and he wondered again what she was thinking about, besides himself of course. He raised an eyebrow when she quickly turned away from him and he made a movement to take his shirt off. "Really, Helms, those chills look permanent." He undid two of his buttons, revealing more of his Quidditch-practiced chiseled chest. Being a Beater was good for something. He looked back at her, waiting for a reaction. He shrugged and then laid back down comfortably, his shirt completely unbuttoned. The left part of it lay on the grass, making his bare skin completely visible to her eyes. He gazed over at her, waiting. "Whatever you say." He grinned when she responded to his jealousy remark. "I'll bet I could find out if I stayed around you long enough, Helms." He continued to stare at her, as if this were going to prove his skill at reading her. He raised an eyebrow at her, having seen her reaction through those brown-green eyes. Then, he frowned slightly, silver eyes shining. "Hufflepuff? What're you talking about?" He smiled at her laughter, unable to tear his gaze away from the sight of her happiness.
Sirius didn't say it aloud, but he rather preferred the modest girls. He knew that if he were looking for a woman to spend the rest of his life with, he wouldn't want to pick one that was a slut. They were just for feeling. Nothing more and nothing less. For a single fleeting second, he imagined his life with Kacie in the future. Then, he guffawed loudly. She wouldn't want him. He was just a tease. A sigh escaped through his lips, tempting the air with its sweetness. He didn't think he'd ever find a girl that could be worth spending the rest of his life with that was willing to deal with his excessive smiling. He turned to her when she spoke again, silver eyes never leaving hers. "Yeah. She's a one of kind, that's for sure." He rolled his eyes. "But, Merlin, it took forever for her to warm up to us. I used to want to kill her. But, I didn't just for James." He grinned and then it faltered when Kacie trailed off. With calculating eyes, he whispered, "I never understood why she was friends with old Snivelly, but maybe there's more to him than him being a slimy greaseball." He laughed loudly, remembering when he'd almost gotten the Slytherthing killed. "But, I doubt it." He snorted, nodding. "Yeah, but real love is so hard to come by these days. In the case of Lily and James, that doesn't happen but every hundred years. For other people, it's a lot harder." He grinned over at her, noticing a sudden sadness envelope her voice. "Me neither, Helms." He clenched his jaw, looking away from her as he thought of Regulus. Many times he considered his brother completely lost from him. He knew it was a different love, but he was still terribly saddened by the fact that his brother wasn't allowed to talk to him, nor vice versa. If they did, they wouldn't have any friends nor would their parents be too happy about it.
Noticing a change about Kacie's green eyes, Sirius smiled wider, wondering yet again what she was thinking about. He sighed loudly, faking annoyance. "I wish you weren't so bloody unreadable, Helms. It makes my job considerably harder. You just want me to flirt more, don't you?" He threw her a handsome smile, full of mischief. When she nodded at confirming that she wanted to be an Auror, Sirius's face lit up like a star. "I never would have expected that to come out of you, Helms. You're just full of surprises, aren't you?" He chuckled. "That's exactly what I want to do as well." A twinge of pain twisted his heart's strings at the thought of meeting Regulus out on a battlefield, the Aurors against the Death Eaters, brother against brother. He didn't know if he could kill him. If it came down to it, Sirius would die for him, no matter what. He wouldn't fight Regulus. He chuckled at her passion, an attraction for her bubbling in his chest. But, he didn't show it. Hell, he always looked like he was attracted to a girl. She wouldn't see a difference. But, it felt different. "I've only been a couple of places with the Potters. But, I'd like to go everywhere, too." He thought again of how nice and pleasant James' family was and felt the jealousy return. But, he loved his best friend. He didn't think of him so badly, he just wished he had a family to boast about. "Je parle juste un peu de français," he whispered, his velvety voice curving to the sound of the French language quite well.
Sirius sighed. He should have known she would say something like that. "I don't hate Slytherthings, Helms, I just don't like it that most of them turn out to be cold and cruel witches and wizards. Name one wizard or witch that went bad who wasn't in Slytherin." He gazed over at her, silver eyes leaking with a determination to prove to her that he didn't hate them all. "Snivelly's a prick. Bellatrix is insane. Lucius is just a snob that never learned to act properly with other people. Narcissa is too afraid to step out of the family's plan for her and . . . " he trailed off, Regulus's face swimming into his mind. He stopped talking and his eyes drifted upwards yet again. He sighed at her story and then moved closer to her, grey eyes like melting iron. "Look at me, Helms." His tone was firm, nearly aggressive. Without waiting, he moved her face so that it was turned towards his and he looked directly into her eyes. Without missing a beat, he said, "You made the choice to be in Slytherin because of the colors, not knowing what you were getting yourself into. But, listen to me. You can change how people look at you, how people see you. It doesn't matter if they hate you. They all hated Andromeda, and she doesn't give a bloody care in the world." His finger moved down her jawline before he let it fall to the grass. "I didn't choose to be put into Gryffindor, actually. I was already quite brave and arrogant when I got up onto that stool. I'd already been chastising my parents about Voldemort and defying him every chance I got. It wasn't until my Fifth Year that I decided to break their non-existent hearts completely." He chuckled darkly, staring at spot just across from her, looking at it as if it were the most disgusting thing he had ever seen. "They thought it was a phase I was going through, but they just booted me out when I told them they were wrong. Bloody fools." Regulus's torn face on the day Sirius left flashed into his brain and he lay back down on the grass, anger floating through his silver eyes.
Sirius chuckled again. "You were afraid of Andy? She's the kindest soul I've ever met." A sort of sadness leaked into his voice. "It was terrible what they did to her when they found out about she and Ted." Bellatrix was ruthless, that was for sure. He watched her expression when he spoke of his dark cousin. He grinned slightly. "I'm sure he prefers insanity over clearly thinking through things. I heard that she's possibly his best Death Eater yet." He spoke with a bitterness, the tone of his voice rippling with disgust. He smiled widely when she said Voldemort's name. He thought it very courageous but simply kept the grin on his face. "I daresay that she's much more than that, but I agree with you, Helms. She's positively hopeless when it comes to talking to her. You've had the displeasure, I'm sure?" He shivered again, remembering the many conversations he'd endured with his cousin, but he'd always managed to push her buttons in while he spoke to her and that had made it all worthwhile.
When Kacie put his hand in both of hers, Sirius still didn't look at her. He couldn't. He snorted derisively, letting her finish before he choked out rather painfully, He's either a bloody coward or a damn fool." His voice filled with agony. "If he thinks he's going to be able to defeat Voldemort by acting like he is, he won't do it." Then, anger flashed into his face and he tore his hand away from hers. Sitting up and scooted away from her, towards the lake. "Patience?" he hissed furiously, hands curling into fists as he wrapped his arms around his legs, now pulled up to his chest. "He left me in the dark when he didn't leave with me, Helms. How could I possibly still want to talk to him after that? He's a damn fool." He knew he'd already said that of his brother, but he couldn't stand Regulus. If he had the opportunity to talk to him again, he didn't know what he'd do. Every time he passed his little brother, he was always with those damned Death Eaters. And Sirius wasn't going anywhere near them. They reeked of darkness, something that Sirius was trying to get rid of.
But, a sort of hope flickered in his heart when she mentioned that he was different from all of the others. Could that mean he was playing a double role? "He should've come with me." Tears leaked into the silver puddles of his eyes, but he didn't let her see. He turned his face away, ready if she tried to look at him. He hadn't cried in years, but something about his anger was making him want to cry, to be vulnerable when he knew he didn't want to show it to her. But, then again, he felt a sort of attachment to Kacie, one that he couldn't explain. He felt a friendship beginning, possibly.

Sirius smirked, and she knew that he could tell she wasn't breathing, but he didn't touch her mouth. He grinned. "Touché, Helms." His silver eyes continued to measure her expression and she couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking about. He raised an eyebrow when she quickly turned away from him and he made a movement to take his shirt off. "Really, Helms, those chills look permanent." He undid two of his buttons, revealing more of his Quidditch-practiced chiseled chest. She looked away from him, her cheeks flushing crimson. Of course she was used to seeing shirtless men walking around her all the time, but she was not used to a shirtless man that she was attracted to laying about half-naked before her. She shook her head at him. "No, don't. You'll catch a cold, and I don't want you cursing my name to the heavens while you're stuck in bed with the flu." She almost sighed. He probably didn't even know what a cold was, let alone the flu. They were Muggle diseases, after all. A pureblooded wizard wouldn't take an interest in that world. He looked back at her, as if waiting for a reaction. He shrugged and then laid back down comfortably, his shirt completely unbuttoned. She refused to stare at him, so she focused her gaze on his forehead, on his broad shoulders, his muscular arms...NO! she mentally chastised herself, looking away, No. Bad, bad, bad. Don't look at him that way. It's wrong. Then why did it feel almost right to watch him? The left part of his shirt lay on the grass, making his bare skin completely visible to her eyes. She knew he was doing it on purpose, and almost hexed him, had he not spoken. He gazed over at her, waiting. "Whatever you say." He grinned when she responded to his jealousy remark. "I'll bet I could find out if I stayed around you long enough, Helms." He continued to stare at her, as if this were going to prove his skill at reading her. She smirked at him, glad that she had mastered at least one element in all of her years at Hogwarts. She was a master of disguise. He wouldn't be able to tell whether she was sad, angry, depressed or ecstatic unless she willingly showed him so. He raised an eyebrow at her. Then, he frowned slightly, silver eyes shining. "Hufflepuff? What're you talking about?" He smiled at her as she continued laughing. She pressed her lips together forcefully, trying to reign it all in. Finally calm enough to explain it to him with the occasional chuckle or guffaw, she replied, "The other day, I heard a Hufflepuff telling one of her friends..." She laughed once more. "You're a bloody tease!" She layed on her back and stared at the stars, occasional chuckles escaping her, an almost permanent smile attached to her lips. "It's okay, though," she assured him, "I've even been called one on several occasions." She grinned. Techniqually, she had been called a tease by every male that was attracted to her. She would always leave them hanging. "It's a bit too fun, though, to give up." she added conspiratorially, "They always think they'll be getting something. And, just when they think they've got me, I leave them hanging when they're craving more. It's almost as fun as pushing the other Slytherin's buttons. A great time-consumer when Dumbledore's not around." She stopped. She had slipped up. Hopefully, Sirius wouldn't notice, or he would be kind enough not to mention it. She definitely was not going to tell him. It was her business and hers alone.
At first, Sirius was completely quiet. Then, he guffawed loudly, and Kacie almost felt as if he were making fun of her. She ignored it for the time being. He turned to her when she spoke again, silver eyes never leaving hers. "Yeah. She's a one of kind, that's for sure." He rolled his eyes. "But, Merlin, it took forever for her to warm up to us. I used to want to kill her. But, I didn't just for James." She smiled at him, loving the sight of the light in his eyes as he spoke of his best friend. He grinned and then it faltered when Kacie trailed off. With calculating eyes, he whispered, "I never understood why she was friends with old Snivelly, but maybe there's more to him than him being a slimy greaseball." He laughed loudly, remembering when he'd almost gotten the Slytherthing killed. "But, I doubt it." She sighed. "Severus actually used to be really nice," she said, "Until the O.W.L. incident. He had been hanging round Avery and Mulciber a lot, and he began acting too strange for my liking. I didn't even acknowledge his existence after he did what he did to Lily." She sighed once more. "Still...I think he regrets it, even though he can't take it back. I haven't heard him utter the word since." He snorted, nodding. "Yeah, but real love is so hard to come by these days. In the case of Lily and James, that doesn't happen but every hundred years. For other people, it's a lot harder." He grinned over at her. She smiled. "I don't think it's that hard," she replied, "You just have to look in the right places." "Me neither, Helms." He clenched his jaw, looking away from her. She smiled a sad smile at him. "Looks like we're alike in more ways than one, huh, Sirius?" She didn't know whether he would appreciate her calling him by his first name, but it was worth a shot. And she couldn't help but feel a thrill of excitement as his name left her lips.
"I wish you weren't so bloody unreadable, Helms. It makes my job considerably harder. You just want me to flirt more, don't you?" He threw her a handsome smile, full of mischief. She grinned at him, "That's for me to know, and you to find out." When she nodded at confirming that she wanted to be an Auror, Sirius's face lit up like a star. "I never would have expected that to come out of you, Helms. You're just full of surprises, aren't you?" He chuckled. She smirked at him, thinking of her animagus as she replied, "You have no idea," in a low, mysteriously enchanting voice. "That's exactly what I want to do as well." She smiled. "Really? That's excellent. We might even train together in the future." She was ecstatic at the idea of it. Then they would be able to spend more time together when they were out of Hogwarts. He might even become a wonderful friend, though a little-loud voice in her head was screaming what she wanted him to be. "I've only been a couple of places with the Potters. But, I'd like to go everywhere, too." Kacie grinned. The longer they talked, the more she began to like him, to enjoy his company. She found that they had a lot in common, and that thought alone comforted her. "Je parle juste un peu de français," he whispered, his velvety voice curving to the sound of the French language quite well. Kacie laughed. "I don't know French well," she admitted, "But it's a beautiful language. I want to learn how to curse someone senseless in French and confuse them because it sounds like I'm seranading them." She laughed.
She almost believed him. "Snivelly's a prick. Bellatrix is insane. Lucius is just a snob that never learned to act properly with other people. Narcissa is too afraid to step out of the family's plan for her and . . ." he trailed off, and she felt that he had been about to mention his brother, Regulus. Kacie didn't bother to reply, for she didn't want to get into a huge argument with the boy. She stared at the ground, her expression a mask of composure, though she was screaming in anger and agony on the inside. She tried to move her face away, but his grip was strong. She stared at his forehead, refusing to meet his eyes. If she saw the expression in those deep, silver pools, she was positive that she would break. She looked away, not wanting to meet his gaze. She knew that he was right, so she didn't say anything to him. She merely let him continue. Bloody fools." She let out a surprised, angry noise when he said this. She looked him in the eyes for the first time since this little rant, and spoke the complete truth, her walls crumbling as she allowed her composed mask to leave her. "Damn right they were fools," she agreed, "But they probably did the best thing in kicking you out. Otherwise, you wouldn't be as wonderful as you are now." Her face was an expression of pain, hope, loss, fear...far too many emotions to decipher. Her eyes matched, filled with so many complex emotions that the green orbs seemed to glow neon in the moonlight. She would probably regret doing this in the future, for opening herself up for him, but at the moment, she didn't care. Sirius needed to realize just how special he was, just how lucky he had been in his life.
Sirius chuckled again. "You were afraid of Andy? She's the kindest soul I've ever met." Kacie stared at him with wide eyes. "How was I supposed to know! They look so much alike! Any time I was alone in a room with one of them, I didn't know what to say. I was afraid I'd be hit with an Unforgivable!" She did not allow herself to tell him that she had already exprienced one of the Unforgivables. Rodolphus had done it on several occasions, stating that he was testing to see if she 'knew where her loyalties lied'. Every single time, she had lied, said that she was on the Dark Lord's side, but made no move to become a Death Eater yet. She told them that she would finish school, and join then. It was a blatant lie, but it had convinced them to leave her alone, for the most part. A sort of sadness leaked into his voice. "It was terrible what they did to her when they found out about she and Ted." Kacie shivered. Yes, she remembered what they had done to Adromeda, could still hear her screams echoing through the walls. She closed her eye against the familiar pain she felt when she thought of the Cruciatus curse. "She didn't deserve that," she whispered, "No one deserves the Cruciatus. Especially Adromeda." He grinned slightly. "I'm sure he prefers insanity over clearly thinking through things. I heard that she's possibly his best Death Eater yet." He spoke with a bitterness, the tone of his voice rippling with disgust. Her face turned up in disgust. "Speaking of insane Death Eaters," she said, "I saw your cousin in Honeyduke's the other day." She smiled. "I've always loved pushing her buttons. Used to do it all the time when she was in Hogwarts. Always got it back from her, too. I'd decided early on that, if I was going to get it anyway, I might as well do something to make it worth it." He smiled widely when she said Voldemort's name. "I daresay that she's much more than that, but I agree with you, Helms. She's positively hopeless when it comes to talking to her. You've had the displeasure, I'm sure?" He shivered again. She nodded.
Sirius still wouldn't look at her. He snorted derisively, letting her finish before he choked out rather painfully, "He's either a bloody coward or a damn fool." His voice filled with agony, and Kacie's heart broke at the sound of it. "If he thinks he's going to be able to defeat Voldemort by acting like he is, he won't do it." She sighed, "He knows he can't defeat Voldemort that way. That's one of the reasons I think he's so reluctant to change sides." Then, anger flashed into his face and he tore his hand away from hers, and she did her best to hide the hurt she felt when he did so. Sitting up and scooted away from her, towards the lake. "Patience?" he hissed furiously, hands curling into fists as he wrapped his arms around his legs, now pulled up to his chest. Her eyes flashed angrily at him. "Yes. Patience," she retorted, "That's what you're supposed to do when you try to help your family. Help them any way you can, and be patient with them. I was only trying to help, but I guess you really don't want him back, now, do you?" She knew this was a low blow. Sirius probably missed his brother the way she missed Thomas when she had had to leave him with her father, before he died, when she came to school. But he needed to get his head out of his ass and face the music. He was never going to move on until he got this through his thick bloody skull. "He left me in the dark when he didn't leave with me, Helms. How could I possibly still want to talk to him after that? He's a damn fool." Kacie sighed. "You know you don't mean that," she whispered, "I can see it in both of your eyes, when I see you two. Both of you are only going to make yourselves suffer more if you don't do something about it."
Sirius had now turned his face away from Kacie, and she had the distinct feeling that he was doing so in order to hide the sadness in his eyes. She thought she had seen tears begin to form as he turned away. "He should've come with me." Kacie reached out hestiantly, and placed her hand atop his shoulder. She began to rub soothing circles into his back as she whispered, "Yes, he should have," she agreed, "But don't you think he didn't come with you because he was scared? Who wouldn't be, in his position? That's why you need to reconsile with him, Sirius, before it's too late. He needs you now, as much as you need him. Family is one of the most important things in this world, and that's what Regulus is. The rest can rot in hell, but Regulus is your brother. I know that you're angry, and I know that you're hurt, Sirius. Just let me help you. Please."

In the pale moonlight, Sirius could make out the pink-tinged quality of her face. He grinned in satisfaction, but said nothing of it. He didn't want to embarrass her. At least, not yet. He laughed at her comment before saying, "Alright, Helms, but I'd rather be screaming your name in bed in a different kind of way." His smile widened, knowing he was being a little crude, but he didn't really care. He didn't acknowledge the obvious diseases she'd mentioned. He didn't know what they were and he didn't want to know. They sounded odd and disgusting to him. He grinned when his silver eyes swept over to meet hers. Those green eyes flew across his face and then down onto his shoulders then to his chest. He saw the delight flash through her emeralds and then he chuckled softly. Sirius couldn't hide his appreciation for her laughter. He couldn't remember the last time he had talked this much with a girl. It was almost . . . weird. Sirius merely smirked at her little tale. "And you were surprised at this, Helms? Do you doubt my charm?" Grinning widely when she reassured him that it was alright and confided in him that she was a tease as well, he guffawed, eying her carefully. "I can imagine why." He threw her a grin and then looked away. He nodded when she spoke again and he responded, "I know what you mean. Every girl I've taken an interest in always thinks I'm going to give them what they really want, but I haven't." He blinked rapidly, hating himself for mentioning that. Noticing her comment about Dumbledore, he was about to ask about it when he noticed the slight apprehension in her eyes. He kept his mouth closed.
Sirius chuckled loudly again, throwing Kacie a disapproving and unbelieving look. "To the Slytherthings or everyone?" He snorted. But, he knew Snape wouldn't have ever been nice to him, for he was so cruel to Snivelly. But the slimeball deserved it. "Mulciber and Avery are toads." His nose wrinkled in disgust at the thought of them. His silver eyes grew hard at the mention of the incident during their fifth year. "I felt more anger towards him then than I'd felt in a long time. Lily didn't deserve that." He sighed with her and then smirked at the synchronization. "Yeah, I bet. Lils was the only friend that he really had until that day. I don't consider those slimy Death Eaters to be his friends. They only want him because he'd look good to Voldemort." He gazed over at her when she spoke and his mind screamed, It is if you keep yourself hidden. He didn't want to say that aloud, for he felt a little foolish in doing so. To be honest, he was afraid of getting hurt. He knew it was pretty hypocritical of him to think of such a thing, but that was why he stuck to easy girls. There was no trap of a real relationship. When she asked her little question, Sirius gazed over at her with his calculating silver eyes. Nodding, he said, "Yeah, I guess so, Helms." He watched a sort of pleasure flash through her eyes when she spoke his name, but he began to wonder if that shimmer had even been there. She was so damn hard to read.
He shook his head. "Well, if that's not the most irritating answer I've ever heard, then I don't know what is." He huffed playfully at her and then threw her another smile. He tilted his head to the side, nearly enchanted by the change in her voice. "Oh? Are there more secrets in that mind of yours?" He smiled, knowing that he was just the same. He had so many secrets, sometimes he felt he would burst at the weight of them. He chuckled. "Yeah, unless I get ahead of you because of my excellent skill." He grinned jokingly, silver eyes flashing. He smiled back. "Well, you had me fooled, Helms. I only know it because my parents forced me to learn it because our family is Toujurs pur." He looked completely disgusted as he thought of it. "Always pure."
He watched her when he finished talking and he wondered what she was thinking about as she stared at the ground. When he held her face, he held it gently but with a firmness so she couldn't get away from him. He knew she wasn't looking directly into his eyes, but he simply kept right on talking. He wanted to scream at her, tell her that she was lucky to still have a real family that loved her, tell her that she was lucky she was sorted into a house where she could make a difference. But, instead, he let her look away, his fury fading into a twinge of sorrow. He raised his eyebrows in surprise at her noise. What he saw when she looked over at him made his heart want to break. But, he wished she would keep the mask away, for in the single moment, she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. He smiled at her comment. Damn right I'm wonderful." He winked at her. "I'm only that way because I saw the wrong in their actions. I can't say the same for Narcissa and him." He knew she would probably realize he was speaking of Regulus, so he didn't say anything else. Andromeda was the only other one he knew of that broke from the pack. He touched her face as her mask stayed invisible and he said, "Why don't you look like this all the time, Helms? It's more fitting, I can assure you."
Sirius chuckled. "Well, considering the fact that she was kind of like you back when she was younger. She always hid behind a mask and kept her emotions in check, for fear of Bellatrix ratting her out." He let out a sorrowful sigh. "But it was inevitable. Bellatrix doesn't miss a damned thing, unfortunately." He watched her as she spoke of her fear of the Unforgivables. Something in her eyes threw up a warning flag for him, for he felt that she was hiding something from him. But, she was pretty much hiding everything, so what did he have to prove that she was concealing now? "And Bellatrix had been the ringleader. Her own sister . . . " He trailed off, looking away. He remembered finding his cousin on that night, terrified that she was going to die. But, she'd gotten better, despite the fact that there was no proof of Bellatrix starting it. They couldn't get her into trouble, and that was the worst part of it. He nodded. "I agree, but Bellatrix likes to play with her food before she eats it, if you catch my drift." He let out a small growl at the thought of his cousin. His eyes widened in alarm when she spoke of meeting with Bellatrix. Concern leaked into his silver eyes and he said, And she didn't hurt you?" He grinned when she smiled, however, a feeling of relief drifting into his bones. Yeah, I've done that ever since I knew her. It's fun, isn't it?" He chuckled, a shiver fluttering down his spine. "But, you can't tickle the dragon too much or she'll hurt you in the worst possible way. She's the last person I want vengeful towards me." He laughed again. "But, she's never liked me, and I've never really cared, so I suppose I'm number one on her list, right next to Andromeda." He sighed again, loving his Andy dearly. He wished he could see her more often, but it was getting dangerous to simply waltz around out of Hogwarts these days. Especially if Kacie said that she saw Bellatrix simply strolling around in Honeydukes.
Sirius scowled at her sigh, wishing he could just get up and run away from her. But, he wasn't a coward. Too bad, really. He clenched his jaw. "He shouldn't have chosen that side in the first place." His voice filled with disgust. He wanted to hex her for being angry with him, and his silver eyes flashed to hers, silver like deadly iron. They resembled Bellatrix's for a moment, but he never would've acted upon his anger. He knew that it meant death to do so. "He's not my family any more, Helms." His voice grew louder. "He cut off all ties with me and left me in the dust!" Her last words struck him silent and he stood up rather indignantly, throwing her a glare. How dare you," he hissed. "Just because your father was swine, doesn't mean that you have any understanding of what I have to deal with, Kacie!" His eyes were watering, but he couldn't hold it in much longer. I have no one in my immediate family that I can talk to. You have your brother and your mother. What do I have? A cousin in hiding. THE ONLY FAMILY MEMBER I WANT TO TALK TO ME HAS BECOME A DEATH EATER!" He took a deep breath, clenching his fists in fury. "What makes you think I want anything to do with him?" He threw her another iron glare. How do you know what I mean, Helms? What do you care anyway? You're just a girl too afraid to show what she really is." His jaw clenched. "No! I don't want to talk to him! You don't understand!"
As he sat angrily back down on the ground, he felt comforted by her touch, no matter how furious he was with her at this moment. He didn't doubt the fact that she would hex him the next time she saw him. She didn't deserve those insults, but he was too irate to notice. He snorted and turned to face her, the tears washing down his cheeks like drops of rain. "Don't you think I was scared, Kacie? I was the one that left! I was alone!" He growled at her suggestion. "No. If he wants to be reconciled, then he'll have to come talk to me. I'm not going anywhere near those Death Eaters." He cringed quite noticeably when she spoke his brother's name. "No," he whispered coldly, "I don't need anyone's help, least of all yours!" He stood up again, looking towards the forest and then the school. He shot one last glance at her, full of rage and then shot of towards Hogwarts.
OOC: You could still run after him if you so desired.

She noticed his grin of satisfaction as he gazed at her, but said nothing of how it made her feel both uncomfortable, and complimented. Not many people treated her the way Sirius did, and for that, she was grateful. Many people did not associate with her for two reasons. A - they are outside of Slytherin house, and are prejudiced, or B - They are inside Slytherin house, and are suspicious of her. Though closely related reasons, that was what they were nonetheless. No one took chances with her, as she never took chances with them. But Sirius seemed to be the daring type, and Kacie was in the mood for a bit of danger. He laughed at her comment before saying, "Alright, Helms, but I'd rather be screaming your name in bed in a different kind of way." His smile widened, knowing he was being a little crude, but he gave off the appearance of not caring. She smirked at him. "You say that like you actually think you're getting somewhere," she teased, knowing she was digging herself a hole. She added, "Thank you for the compliment, though. Didn't know my reputation was so promising." She chuckled. He grinned when his silver eyes swept over to meet hers. He chuckled, and she knew that he had caught her staring. Her cheeks flushed in irritation and embarrassment, and she looked away from him. She could not allow him to tempt her. He may be considered eye candy by others, but Kacie did not look at it that way. In her opinion, the only man that should be appreciated is the man someone is with. Some men may be attractive, but what else were they? It was disrespectful to ogle men, just as it was disrespectful were their roles reversed. She would not disrespect Sirius in that manner. Sirius merely smirked at her little tale. "And you were surprised at this, Helms? Do you doubt my charm?" She did not reply to this statement, simply raised her eyebrows in a meaningful way to him. Grinning widely when she reassured him that it was alright and confided in him that she was a tease as well, he guffawed, eying her carefully. "I can imagine why." She chuckled. "Oh, yes," she nodded, "I've infuriated quite the batch of boys. Sad thing is, it seems the Gryffindor lads really aren't as brave as they claim to be." He threw her a grin and then looked away. He nodded when she spoke again and he responded, "I know what you mean. Every girl I've taken an interest in always thinks I'm going to give them what they really want, but I haven't." He blinked rapidly, hating himself for mentioning that. She smiled softly at him. "Your secret's safe with me," she whispered. Though she did not speak, she silently appreciated the fact that Sirius did not pursue the comment about Dumbledore. For as much as she was beginning to trust Sirius - a stupid decision, on any Slytherin's part - she could not trust this information to him. He was a loyal person, certainly, but could he really keep a secret as big as this?
Sirius chuckled loudly again, throwing Kacie a disapproving and unbelieving look. "To the Slytherthings or everyone?" He snorted. Kacie nodded. "Yes," she said, "He even helped me on occasion, when your lot was in the mood to prank a few of us. He intercepted quite a few of the attacks, and he even helped me. You guys don't take into account just how dangerous your pranks can be." She faintly remembered a time in her Second Year, when the Marauders had slipped veritusirum into all of the Slytherin's goblets, and cursed their chairs to move every time they chose to take a seat. Severus had taught her several spells before her Fourth Year and had helped her in Second Year. "Mulciber and Avery are toads." She nodded in agreement. His nose wrinkled in disgust at the thought of them. His silver eyes grew hard at the mention of the incident during their fifth year. "I felt more anger towards him then than I'd felt in a long time. Lily didn't deserve that." She sighed, nodding silently in agreement. "Yes. I may not be friends with her or anything, but I know she didn't deserve to be called..." she paused, looking away from Sirius angrily. "No one deserves to be called such a horrid thing." He sighed with her and then smirked at the synchronization. "Yeah, I bet. Lils was the only friend that he really had until that day. I don't consider those slimy Death Eaters to be his friends. They only want him because he'd look good to Voldemort." She nodded at the comment, but did nothing to defend the slimy git, nor to explain anything. She was finished with the subject of Snape. He gazed over at her when she spoke and she suddenly felt very exposed. She was unsure as to whether to be scared by that feeling, or to crave it more. She liked talking to Sirius, it was...nice. Calming. Relaxing. She finally felt as if she could be herself around him, unlike so many others in Hogwarts. Sirius gazed over at her with his calculating silver eyes. Nodding, he said, "Yeah, I guess so, Helms."
He shook his head. "Well, if that's not the most irritating answer I've ever heard, then I don't know what is." He huffed playfully at her and then threw her another smile, which she gladly returned in an impish manner. If he didn't like the answer, then he shouldn't have asked. He tilted his head to the side, a curious and enchanting look upon his face. "Oh? Are there more secrets in that mind of yours?" Kacie grinned at him, and whispered, "Everyone's entitled to their little secrets, Sirius." He smiled and chuckled. "Yeah, unless I get ahead of you because of my excellent skill." He grinned jokingly, silver eyes flashing. Kacie raised her eyebrows at the charming Gryffindor skeptically. "Oh, my!" she feigned surprise, "You are quite full of yourself, Mr. Black! What makes you think you would stand a chance against my wit and skill?" Her emerald green eyes sparkled with hidden mischieve and amusement as she spoke. He smiled back before he spoke. [i\"Well, you had me fooled, Helms. I only know it because my parents forced me to learn it because our family is Toujurs pur." He looked completely disgusted as he thought of it. "Always pure." Kacie frowned at his tone. "The only one in that family that deserves to be considered Toujurs pur is you," she said bluntly, fiercely, "Out of that entire group of Death Eaters and power hungry gits, the only good thing that came out of that was you. You are Toujurs pur, and if you even consider that an insult, I'll be personally offended." Towards the end of her little rant, she began to take on a teasing tone. "And hell hath no fury like a woman scorned," she added teasingly. When he held her face, he held it gently but with a firmness so she couldn't get away from him. She felt that he knew she wasn't looking directly into his eyes, but he simply kept right on talking. He raised his eyebrows in surprise at her noise, smiling at her comment. "Damn right I'm wonderful." He winked at her, and she was grateful that he took this lightly. She would have felt horrible had he reacted otherwise. It was comforting, in a way. "I'm only that way because I saw the wrong in their actions. I can't say the same for Narcissa and him." Kacie got the distinct feeling that Sirius wasn't just talking about anyone. Regulus had been his brother, and her own heart wrenched at the thought of losing her brother that way. She could only imagine what he was going through. He touched her face as her mask stayed invisible and he said, "Why don't you look like this all the time, Helms? It's more fitting, I can assure you." She sighed as she stared at Sirius, knowing what he meant by his comment. She smiled softly at the compliment. "Thanks," she said, "But I have to be, you know? Can't let my guard down here." She bit her lower lip, looking away from him for a moment, before turning back to his gaze. She felt as if she couldn't go without it for long. "This place is a lot like it was at home, when he was still around. You can't let your emotions show to just anyone, cause they use that to their advantage. If they know they got to you, that only makes it harder to push the demons away. I..." she stared down at her hands, which were now intertwined with one another, wringing against each other restlessly. "I don't even know why I'm saying all of this to you," she confessed, "Because, most likely, nothing will come from this. You're a complete stranger to me, and I can't open up to people I don't trust. It's too dangerous, especially in these times."Sirius chuckled. "Well, considering the fact that she was kind of like you back when she was younger. She always hid behind a mask and kept her emotions in check, for fear of Bellatrix ratting her out." He let out a sorrowful sigh. "But it was inevitable. Bellatrix doesn't miss a damned thing, unfortunately." She sighed, nodding gravely, "Agreed. That's why I try to steer clear of her when possible. If anything, I think she hates me more than Snape now, so I really need to watch out." He watched her as she spoke of her fear of the Unforgivables. "And Bellatrix had been the ringleader. Her own sister . . ." He trailed off, looking away. She remembered when she saw Adromeda, after the attack; she had been one of the first ones to visit her in the Hospital Wing. She swallowed back the bile at the memory of the sight of her. "Monsters," she whispered emotionlessly. "Pure evil." But, she'd gotten better, despite the fact that there was no proof of Bellatrix starting it. They couldn't get her into trouble, and that was the worst part of it. He nodded. "I agree, but Bellatrix likes to play with her food before she eats it, if you catch my drift." He let out a small growl, and it almost startled Kacie, when she remembered who they were talking about. She held back a growl of her own; no need for any strange looks. She would wait until she was alone, or at least able to change into her animagus form before she let out a howl, much less a growl. His eyes widened in alarm when she spoke of meeting with Bellatrix. Concern leaked into his silver eyes and he said, "And she didn't hurt you?" She shook her head, her smile disappearing momentarily at the memory. She then grinned, wiping all negative thoughts out of her mind. "I pissed her off to the point of wanting to duel me." He grinned when she smiled, and she was almost convinced that it was because she smiled that he reacted that way. "Yeah, I've done that ever since I knew her. It's fun, isn't it?" He chuckled, a shiver fluttering down his spine. She chuckled "Loads," she agreed. "But, you can't tickle the dragon too much or she'll hurt you in the worst possible way. She's the last person I want vengeful towards me." He laughed again. She nodded once more in agreement. "But, she's never liked me, and I've never really cared, so I suppose I'm number one on her list, right next to Andromeda." He sighed again, and Kacie chuckled in amusement at the sight. Sirius scowled at her sigh, but she held her ground. She was far from a coward, and she was not one to back down in a situation such as this. He clenched his jaw. "He shouldn't have chosen that side in the first place." His voice filled with disgust, and his silver eyes flashed to hers, silver like deadly iron. They resembled Bellatrix's for a moment, and Kacie froze with a look close to fright, but refused to allow him to get to her. He needed to understand. "He's not my family any more, Helms." His voice grew louder. "He cut off all ties with me and left me in the dust!" Kacie frowned at him, her voice sounding strangely small as she responded, "You don't mean that, Sirius. You're angry with him, but you're scared for him. I know it. You know you don't want him to become one of them!" Her last words seemed to strike him silent and he stood up rather indignantly, throwing her a glare. "How dare you," he hissed. "Just because your father was swine, doesn't mean that you have any understanding of what I have to deal with, Kacie!" She sat silent, accepting the low blow with a nod. She knew she had been hard on him with that statement, that she deserved his retort, but it seemed to bring out a hint of the emotion she had been looking for at last. His eyes were watering, and he seemed as though he couldn't hold back the tears any longer. "I have no one in my immediate family that I can talk to. You have your brother and your mother. What do I have? A cousin in hiding. THE ONLY FAMILY MEMBER I WANT TO TALK TO ME HAS BECOME A DEATH EATER!" He took a deep breath, clenching his fists in fury. "What makes you think I want anything to do with him?" Kacie bit her lower lip, closing her eyes as she heard him practically hiss the words. She replied with as much composure as she could muster, though the suppressed anger and pain laced itself in her words. "Because he's your brother." She looked at him, her eyes fierce and filled with emotion. Her situation with her brother might not be the same as Sirius', but she knew that she would do anything, anything for her brother. He threw her another iron glare. "How do you know what I mean, Helms? What do you care anyway? You're just a girl too afraid to show what she really is." His jaw clenched, and Kacie tried not to show him how much that statement really hurt. "No! I don't want to talk to him! You don't understand!" Surprising herself, she scoffed. "How do you know, Sirius? I'm sorry, but have I ever seen you around the house when I was younger? During the summers, maybe? I don't think so. You don't know me, so don't you dare try to say that I don't understand."As he sat angrily back down on the ground, Kacie had to admit that she took comfort in touching him this way. It almost felt as if she did it to reassure herself that he was still there, that she could still get through to him somehow. He snorted and turned to face her, the tears washing down his cheeks like drops of rain. Her heart clenched at the sight. Sirius didn't deserve to suffer this kind of pain. "Don't you think I was scared, Kacie? I left! I was alone!" Kacie took a shaky breath. "That's what makes the difference between you and Regulus! He's not you, Sirius! People react to similar things in different ways. The difference between you two is that you did leave. That's what makes you you." She blinked furiously, looking away from Sirius in an attempt to stop the tears that were threatening to escape. He growled at her suggestion. "No. If he wants to be reconciled, then he'll have to come talk to me. I'm not going anywhere near those Death Eaters." She nodded. "That's understandable," she said, "But you still need to talk to him, before it's too late. He's already starting to grow bitter with you, Sirius." He cringed quite noticeably when she spoke his brother's name, and she hated that this affected him so. "No," he whispered coldly, "I don't need anyone's help, least of all yours!" Kacie cringed at the exclamation, knowing that she had pushed too far with him. That was her problem, though. She always pushed too hard, until someone finally gave up and ran away. He stood up again, looking towards the forest and then the school. He shot one last glance at her, full of rage and then shot of towards Hogwarts. She did not hesitate as she saw him sprinting towards the castle. He was fast, but she was sure that she was faster. She took off after him, ignoring the tears streaming down her face as his words repeated over and over inside of her mind. She didn't care, the tears helped clear her eyes. If she had kept them in any longer, she wouldn't have been able to see where she was going. She was steadily catching up to him, breathing in through her nose, out through her mouth, and pushed herself farther, faster. She had spent much time in her animagus form, and it had helped her with speed in her human form, as well. Soon, she was right beside him, but she did not spare him a glance, merely continued to run, until she was ahead of him. When she was a few feet ahead - not far enough for him to stop when he saw her - she stopped, stepping in his way. Her feet were set, and her arms were ready. She stared at his fastly approaching form, gasping from the impact as he ran into her. She quickly wrapped her arms around him and held him to her, refusing to let go. Her head rested in the crook of his neck as she tried to catch her breath, and the feeling of him in her arms was almost too much to bear. She was overwhelmed by the emotions taking over her. When she was sure they had both caught their breaths, she whispered, "Easy there, Speedy Gonzales. I'm not going to let you get away that easily."[[OOC: Haha. had to end it on that humorous note. Sorry for the absence. Hope no one died while I was gone, lol.]][/blockquote]

Not really enjoying her silence, Sirius found himself leaning closer to her as he tried to find her eyes. He liked watching people, and it wasn't extremely helpful when they looked away from him. Even though she was silent, he could tell she was thinking about something. The calculating gaze in her eyes suggested as much. Chuckling loudly when she looked back at him and threw him a playful comment, Sirius said, "Well, of course I am. I haven't been denied yet. I'm just not trying to my fullest extent." He moved closer to her, his silver eyes smoldering as they stared into her green. He smirked and nodded at her murmur about her reputation. He grinned at her laughter. A wide smile fluttered onto his face when he noticed a blush rise onto her cheeks. He reached out a hand and touched her skin with it, feeling the warmth on his fingertips. "Merlin, Helms, it feels like you have a bloody fever." Then, he grinned, moving away but making sure he was still a lot closer to her than he had been before. He didn't mind her gaze, rather he welcomed it. But, he knew she was better than that. He simply didn't realize how much control she had in her. It was awe-inspiring, actually. With a raised brow, Sirius moved on top of her again, his face inches from hers. "I could be brave for you," he whispered silkily, his voice rippling with satin. He touched the tip of his nose to hers, his silver leaking into the green. He didn't want to look away. Those eyes were just so beautiful. He moved away and felt a blush creeping up his neck when she whispered. It was so embarrassing to have mentioned something so private, something his friends didn't even know about. God, he was such an idiot. He turned his gaze to her and then murmured, "I just want to save that, you know? For the girl that I fall in love with." He sighed, his silvery eyes burrowing into hers for quite a bit longer than necessary. Then, they drifted away and floated up towards the stars.
Sirius rolled his eyes when she scoffed his pranks. He didn't like his pranks to be looked down upon. They should be cherished. With a huff, he muttered, "Snivelly deserves every bit he gets," he said coldly. He eyed Kacie when she mentioned Snape helping her out on occasion. What was that about? Was he trying to throw people off of his already charming disposition? He snorted at the thought. He gazed at her again, wondering what she was thinking about. "Were you friends with Snivelly, Helms? And here I thought you were alright." He smirked at her and then looked away. He looked back at her when she began to talk again and he moved a hand to her wrist when she suddenly became angry. He thought it was a bit much for someone of her status and a thought flickered through his mind. She wouldn't have reacted so strongly if she weren't muggle-born. Turning her face to his again, he whispered, "You're not a pure-blood nor a half-blood, are you, Helms?" He wouldn't have cared how she answered, but a feeling in his stomach told him that he already knew the answer. Noticing the look in her eyes, Sirius smiled widely. It seemed as if she were enjoying his presence. Well, most girls did, but it seemed as if she did in a way that wasn't solely built on his appearance and charm. Smirking, he allowed a chuckle to escape through his lips as he realized that he was winning her over. He could do it then. He could have any girl in the school as long as he kept at it. Except Lily of course. She belonged to James and was off-limits, but not everyone else.
Smirking widely at her comment, Sirius nodded in agreement. "Of course. Of course. But one can't have too many secrets, because then they might go insane because of the burden." He threw her a knowing look. He didn't feel bombarded with keeping Moony's secret, nor the fact that he and his three best friends were unregistered Animagi. And the fact that he was a virgin that he just told to a girl that he barely knew. He felt like an idiot again. He grinned when she called him arrogant. As if he didn't already know! "But, of course, m'dear! I wouldn't have half of the school's population hovering around me if I weren't. Although, I don't really like the attention from the guys." He shivered and then muttered, "Because I could distract you with my devilish looks. I might even strip naked just to bribe you." He chuckled softly. When she spoke, his smile faded and he just stared at her. Why was she getting so riled up? He didn't want to be considered anything that had to do with his family. They were swine, every last one of them. Except the ones that were banished, of course. He felt a smirk tugging at his lips when he realized that she was being completely serious. Without being able to help himself, he leaned forward and kissed her on the cheek. Then, while touching her hair, he whispered, "I've never been so insulted in my life." He was just kidding of course. He took it as a complete compliment and one worth thanking. He gave her an appreciative gaze and then slid his hand away from her hair, allowing it to fall next to his side. He listened to her last comment. Frowning, he muttered, "What's that from? Is that a quote of some sort? From a book, perhaps?" He wiggled his eyebrows, assuming the latter of his questions. He didn't read much unless he had to, but there were occasions where he was in the mood for a good book. It didn't ever last really long, though.
Sirius noticed the relief in her face when he took her words very lightly. He smiled at the way she was looking at him. It was almost as if she felt sorry for him when he mentioned Regulus rather vaguely. Sighing loudly, he wrenched his gaze away, hating to talk about his brother. Eying her closely when he commented about her face, he threw her a grin and muttered, "You realize I was calling you beautiful, right?" Another handsome grin flitted onto his face. He tilted his head to the side before reaching out to touch her cheek. "What about with me?" His grin was softer this time, and he tried to convey to her that he was trustworthy, to the death. He sighed when she spoke of demons. He knew of them all too well. Idly, the faces of many well-known Slytherthings flashed through his mind. Bellatrix, Lucius, Narcissa, Regulus . . . At the last face, his expression twisted in pain but he couldn't help it. "I've never been extremely good at hiding my expressions." He shrugged. He'd never wanted to, either. He told people how he felt about them up front. There was no time for dilly-dallying. He wasn't going to waste his time with someone he despised just to make himself safer or to look better. He pursed his lips at her and then muttered, "Don't be like that, Kacie. Do you plan on being alone for the rest of your life?" He sighed, then gazed at her sadly. He wanted to tell her all of the secrets he'd kept, but he knew that'd be wrong. With a soft whisper, he murmured, "I'm very trustworthy, I can assure you. But, if you don't want to trust me now, I'm fine with that. We've only just begun to get to know each other. Besides, this won't be the only time I ever talk to you, will it?" He threw her another handsome smile, hoping she wouldn't deny him another meeting of some sort. He didn't know if he could handle that.
He nodded, agreeing with her completely. He preferred avoiding the damned bitch, but there were times that it was necessary for him to see her. But, because he had been banished from his family, he found those times less frequent, thank Merlin! He looked at her when she spoke of Bellatrix hating her more than Snape. He raised his eyebrows in surprise. He knew his cousin was always a little shifty around Snivelly, as if she didn't trust him with Voldemort, but he didn't know what to think of that. Smiling, he muttered, "Then, she's seen something in you that suggests you doing something besides becoming a Death Eater?" He thought his cousin might, despite Kacie's skill at hiding everything. One slip-up and Bellatrix knew. He nodded, remembering sitting next to Andromeda's bed for the longest time. He didn't get up until the Nurse shooed him away. He didn't want to leave her side, but he remembered being relieved by Teddy after a while. He threw her an apologetic smile when he growled, knowing he probably should keep his dog-like instincts deep down when he was around someone that didn't know he was an Animagus. He laughed when she spoke of pissing his cousin off. "Oh, bravo, Helms! I didn't think you had it in you!" He smiled again, shoving her playfully in the arm. He wondered idly if Rodolphus ever pissed Bellatrix off to the extent of being hurt. He laughed at the thought. It would definitely be a sight he would enjoy watching.
Noticing her fear when he glared at her, Sirius felt a pain shoot through his chest. He had been told that he looked like Bellatrix when he was angry about something, but he always shrugged it off. But, seeing the fear in Kacie's eyes made him want to punch himself. He snorted derisively when she spoke. Indignantly, he exclaimed, "Like hell I didn't mean it! He already is one of them!" His voice turned into a hiss at his last exclamation and he clenched his fists with renewed fury. He hated himself for saying that bit about her father. He didn't mean it but he was such a damn hothead! He watched her bite her lip with a furious gaze, his silver eyes smoldering into her face. Because he's your brother . . . Tears flew from his eyes in fresh waves and Sirius growled angrily, the dog-like sound making it more obvious that he was extremely irate in this moment. He only saw red. When the water cleared in his eyes and he saw the hurt expression, he spun away from her, hating himself even more. When she scoffed at him and retorted, Sirius spun around and yanked her up by her shoulders. His gaze into hers was almost frightening, that look resembling his hateful cousin once again. But, there was more a sorrow in his eyes that she could never achieve. Bellatrix was always cheerful, even if it was in a morbid sense. Shakily, he muttered, "You have the love that I could never have, Kacie. You have the approval of a mother that I desire. You have a brother that loves you and you love back. Tell me, in what sense could that relate to my situation?" His tone had turned monotonous, his eyes like stone. He was growing into a statue, trying to hide everything just like she was doing. But, he wasn't much good at it. He doubted his composure would last very long. He ripped his hands away from her, still furious.
Sirius was very affected by her gentle touch. It gave him a sense of comfort that he never knew could be found in any woman. He'd never felt that way when any other girl touched him, so why was Kacie making him feel so odd inside? He snorted at the look on her face. It made him feel like a damn fool. Angrily, he whispered, "And what does that make him, Kacie?" Merlin, was he being so cruel as to be making her cry? Dammit, he was! Growling again, he tore his gaze away from her, hardly able to stand it. He shook his head when she suggested speaking to Regulus again. "I won't. Not until he proves to me that he's not on their side. Besides, I'm already growing bitter towards him, so what does it matter? Soon, it will all just be a memory." Hating himself for being so cruel, he ran steadfastly towards Hogwarts, increasing his pace when he heard her running behind him. Merlin, she was fast! Then, he saw out of the corner of his eye that she was next to him. All of a sudden, she was in front of him. He knew he wouldn't be able to slow down fast enough so when he collided with her, he exclaimed, "What the bloody hell, Helms? Are you trying to get yourself killed?" He glared at her as she held him, but he made no movement to escape from her embrace. When the skin of her face met with his neck, he could barely contain himself. The pleasure that shot through his body was almost unbearable. He'd never done that with any other girl. And his neck was his soft spot. If any girl touched that part of his body, he was completely docile. He chuckled softly, moving softly out of her arms and making himself lean on his arms on top of her. His body was against hers and his lips very near to her full ones. He wanted to kiss her, but instead, he rolled off of her, feeling dazed. Rolling to his side so that she couldn't see him, he said, "I'm sorry, Kacie. I didn't mean anything I said. Really, I am."

Chuckling loudly when Kacie looked back at him and threw him a playful comment, Sirius said, "Well, of course I am. I haven't been denied yet. I'm just not trying to my fullest extent." As she raised a skeptical eyebrow at him, he moved closer to her, his silver eyes smoldering as they stared into her green. He smirked and nodded at her murmur about her reputation. He grinned at her laughter, sending butterflies fluttering in her stomach. She didn't know why, but she wanted him closer to her, and he was already in her personal space as it was. A sudden, wide smile fluttered onto his face, and she knew that he had noticed her blush. He reached out a hand and touched her skin with it, feeling the warmth on his fingertips. "Merlin, Helms, it feels like you have a bloody fever." Then, he grinned, moving away yet remained a lot closer to her than he had been before. Her face reddened even further in embarrasement, and she pushed at his arm, looking away from him. "Shut up, you bloody git," she said, a small, embarrased smile on her lips. With a raised brow, Sirius moved on top of her again, his face inches from hers. Kacie suddenly found that she couldn't breathe. "I could be brave for you," he whispered silkily, his voice rippling with satin. He touched the tip of his nose to hers, his silver leaking into the green. She didn't want to break the gaze. Those eyes were just too beautiful to look away from. It was almost like a staring game, and she could practically taste the tension in the air. Just as she began to lean forward, however, he moved away. She blinked in surprise, and forced herself not to glare at Sirius. Oh, well, she thought smugly, time for revenge. A slow, seductive smile crept onto Kacie's face as she turned to look at Sirius. In a moment's time, she repeated the action he had taken twice, moving so that her body rested above his, her arms propping her up as she tilted her head to the side curiously, an animal's movement, and stared into his eyes. Their noses were touching once more, and a wide, teasing grin flitted across her face. "Really now?" She leaned her weight on one arm, as she lifted the other towards his face slowly, her hand brushing his hair to the side, stopping just beside his penetrating silver eyes. "Gorgeous eyes," she muttered, so low that even she had trouble hearing. Her hand moved slowly, barely touching his skin, past his neck, to the top of his shirt, to the small amount of chest he had left exposed. "Are you sure you can take it? I much prefer wild, courageous cats over cowardly lions." She noticed a faint blush creeping up his neck when she spoke. She smiled; at least now she knew that she wasn't the only one affected in this situation. It was so embarrassing to have mentioned something so private, though, probably something his friends didn't even know about. She knew he wouldn't want anything of the sort exposed. Plus, he'd probably hate her for exposing such a fact, though, in her opinion, it was something to be proud of. He turned his gaze to her and then murmured, "I just want to save that, you know? For the girl that I fall in love with." He sighed, his silvery eyes burrowing into hers for quite a bit longer than necessary. She nodded in understanding. "That's a very admirable quality, Sirius," she replied. "You know, if more of the right type knew this about you, you truly would be the most eligible bachelor at Hogwarts." Then, his gaze drifted away from hers and floated up towards the stars. She followed the example, and, as a small smile plastered itself to her face, she began to hum, an old Muggle tune she had learned long ago.
Sirius rolled his eyes when she scoffed his pranks. With a huff, he muttered, "Snivelly deserves every bit he gets," he said coldly. She nodded in agreement, feeling that it was best not to say anything else at the moment. No need to strike the match to his infamous temper. He eyed Kacie when she mentioned Snape helping her out on occasion, snorting at her, clearly unbelieving of this little fact. He gazed at her again, clearly questioning her sanity. "Were you friends with Snivelly, Helms? And here I thought you were alright." He smirked at her and then looked away. Kacie barked out a surprised laugh. "God, no!" She shook her head vehemently, "But he did intercept quite a few of the Slytherin pranks. He kept me from drinking a goblet of Verictusirum one time." She raised a scolding eyebrow to Sirius. He did not seem to realize just how dangerous that was. Had she drunken from that goblet in her Second Year, she doubted she would even be where she was now, and she had to admit, she owed that to Severus, however angry she was with him. He had his good moments now and then, just like everyone else. Sirius looked back at her when she began to talk again and he moved a hand to her wrist when she suddenly became angry. The touch was enough to make her take a few deep, calming breaths, but it did nothing to completely disolve the anger she felt. Turning her face to his again, he whispered, "You're not a pure-blood nor a half-blood, are you, Helms?" Kacie exhaled shakily as he said this, and she looked away from him once more, refusing to allow the tears to exit her eyes. She did not want Sirius to see her like this, on the verge of losing it. "If you tell anyone, Sirius, I swear..." her voice broke on the last word. She closed her eyes, and after several deep breaths, she looked at him once more, her eyes now clear, emotionless, the wall back in place. "Adromeda was a blood traitor in their eyes. They would do things far worse if they realized a muggleborn was in the midst." Sirius smiled widely. Smirking, he allowed a chuckle to escape through his lips. She raised a curious eyebrow at him. "Care to let me in on the joke?" She asked.
Smirking widely at her comment, Sirius nodded in agreement. "Of course. Of course. But one can't have too many secrets, because then they might go insane because of the burden." He threw her a knowing look, and she frowned. "You saying something about my mental health, Mr. Black?" she forced her expression into one of dead seriousness, almost anger, though on the inside, she was laughing with delight. It was fun to mess with a few people, and the thought of pulling Sirius' strings for a bit was too appealing a thought to pass up. He grinned when she called him arrogant. She suppressed the urge to roll her eyes, an as if he didn't already know! lightbulb lighting above her head. "But, of course, m'dear! I wouldn't have half of the school's population hovering around me if I weren't. Although, I don't really like the attention from the guys." She laughed loudly, pitying the poor bloke. She knew what it was like to be hit on by the same sex, as well - Muggle world, she shuddered inwardly - and could not help but share the pain of his experiences. He shivered and then muttered, "Because I could distract you with my devilish looks. I might even strip naked just to bribe you." He chuckled softly. She grimaced playfully, chuckling lowly. "Please God, no. Spare the world one disaster at a time, please."When she spoke, his smile faded and he just stared at her, the smirked suddenly, as if just realizing something. He leaned forward and kissed her on the cheek, and she blinked in surprise, her cheeks flushing in embarrassment and pleasure. She mentally slapped herself. She was getting worked up over a kiss on the bloody cheek? From Sirius Black?. Then, while touching her hair, he whispered, "I've never been so insulted in my life." She smirked at him, the seriousness of the moment vanishing momentarily. "How do you do that?" She couldn't stop herself from asking, "Just take a serious moment and...making it better? A joke, instead of something to genuinely think about?" He gave her an appreciative gaze and then slid his hand away from her hair, allowing it to fall next to his side, and she let out a sigh, the warmth next to her disappearing. She felt suddenly cold at the loss of contact. Frowning, he muttered, "What's that from? Is that a quote of some sort? From a book, perhaps?" He wiggled his eyebrows, and she chuckled at the sight, amused. She shook her head. "No. It's an expression my mum has used many times over the past sixteen years." She chuckled fondly at the memory of her mother. Sure, they had had their rough patches, but they were able to move past them. The latest one, however, had been the worst. Neither of them had truly gotten over it, but they were willing to put it aside for now, leave it for another time.
Sighing loudly, he wrenched his gaze away from her, and she chewed on the inside of her cheek, not knowing what to say. Eying her closely when he commented about her face, he threw her a grin and muttered, "You realize I was calling you beautiful, right?" Another handsome grin flitted onto his face, and she found herself smiling in response. It was like a chain reaction with him; see him smile, smile back. She felt herself growing addicted to his impish grins, and wanted to see them more often. "Yeah, I did," she nodded, "That's why I said thanks. But, as you should have noticed by now, I tend to babble. Just ask Thomas." He tilted his head to the side before reaching out to touch her cheek. "What about with me?" His grin was softer this time, and for once, she found she could not smile back. She nodded, "In time, I think I might trust you. But that's the key, isn't it? Time." He sighed when she spoke of demons. His eyes grew a far away look, and soon, his expression showed a flicker of the pain he was feeling at the moment. "I've never been extremely good at hiding my expressions." He shrugged. She mimicked his movement. "You've never really been forced to," she replied bluntly. There was no time for dilly-dallying. Now was a moment for the truth, and the sad thing was, most of the time, the truth wasn't pretty. There are harsh realities to this world, and it's with the hand your dealt that you realize the things you know. He pursed his lips at her and then muttered, "Don't be like that, Kacie. Do you plan on being alone for the rest of your life?" He sighed, then gazed at her sadly. She frowned at that look, not liking the pity in his expression. "No," she replied stubbornly, "But for the time being, while I'm at Hogwarts, I have to be careful. Two years to go and the blokes won't know what to do with me," she joked. With a soft whisper, he murmured, "I'm very trustworthy, I can assure you. But, if you don't want to trust me now, I'm fine with that. We've only just begun to get to know each other. Besides, this won't be the only time I ever talk to you, will it?" He threw her another handsome smile, and she hoped beyond a doubt that they would be able to meet again. She grinned at him, "Thanks," she said, then added sincerely, "I hope not. It'd be a bit hard, though, if you think about it." She smirked as an idea formed in her mind, "Actually, there are a lot of ways we'd be able to get to know each other without the school butting their noses into anything." She thought of the owls in Hogwarts. If anything, when they wanted to talk, they could send each other an owl. Though both of their owls were recognizable to anyone, Kacie thought that they would be able to use different owls, decoys, in a way, so as to avoid detection. Her eyes were alight with the possibilities, and other ideas worked themselves around in her head, like wheels working inside a clock. This was brilliant!
He nodded in agreement, and she was not surprised. It was common knowledge that Sirius hated his family, Bellatrix the most. He looked at her when she spoke of Bellatrix hating her more than Snape, raising his eyebrows in surprise. Smiling, he muttered, "Then, she's seen something in you that suggests you doing something besides becoming a Death Eater?" Kacie snorted in disgust at the thought of the girl. "Just because I don't grovel at her feet and suck up to her, she thinks I'm a member of the Order," she shook her head exasperatedly. The whole subject was only getting her riled up, and she longed for a subject change. Bellatrix was not on her most-perfect-conversation-starters list, nor did she ever plan on making it that. He nodded, his eyes distanced, as if remembering some old memory. He threw her an apologetic smile when he growled, and she smirked at him, remembering when she would have the same occasional slip-ups. Sirius was angry, though, he had an excuse; he was a boy. When a girl began to growl in a way he did, however, people tended to stare. She had to be careful when her Animagus instincts overtook her. He laughed when she spoke of pissing his cousin off. "Oh, bravo, Helms! I didn't think you had it in you!" She raised an almost-offended eyebrow at him. "I guess most first impressions are wrong, then?" she replied smugly. He smiled again, shoving her playfully in the arm, and she chuckled in response, her laughter intermingling with Sirius', a wonderful combination, in her opinion.
He snorted derisively when she spoke. Indignantly, he exclaimed, "Like hell I didn't mean it! He already is one of them!" His voice turned into a hiss at his last exclamation and he clenched his fists with renewed fury. She sighed, shaking her head at him. "Ugh!" she exclaimed angrily, "I've never met someone so stubborn in my life! I didn't see a bloody tatoo on his left arm recently, Sirius, have you? You might not think it, but there's still a chance to save him, you great arrogant git! Stop being a horse's ass and talk to him!" She let out a low, angry growl, her animalistic side showing through. "Arrogant, prideful toerag," she muttered under her breath. She was done. She was through with allowing him to get to her. As much as it hurt, she had forced herself to put the wall up once more, by means of trying to tear his down. She would be unable to do so, otherwise. He watched her bite her lip with a furious gaze, his silver eyes smoldering into her face. Tears flew from his eyes in fresh waves and Sirius growled angrily, the dog-like sound making it more obvious that he was extremely irate in this moment. She stepped forward hesitantly. She wanted to wipe the tears away, to tell him it was okay, that she was there for him, but he needed to let it all out. Her stubborness kept her where she was for now, though her mind was screaming at her to comfort him. When the water cleared in his eyes and he looked at her, he spun away, his anger apparantly returning. When she scoffed at him and retorted, Sirius spun around and yanked her up by her shoulders. She would have winced at the rough contact, but she would not allow him to see. He couldn't see how much she hated arguing with him. Why did she have to go and open up her big mouth? His gaze into hers was almost frightening, that look resembling his hateful cousin once again. But, there was more a sorrow in his eyes that she could never achieve, a look that melted her heart on the spot. Shakily, he muttered, "You have the love that I could never have, Kacie. You have the approval of a mother that I desire. You have a brother that loves you and you love back. Tell me, in what sense could that relate to my situation?" His tone had turned monotonous, his eyes like stone. He was growing into a statue, hiding everything, just like she was doing. She shook her head at him. "You know my mum blamed me for my dad's death?" she asked the question rhetorically, trying to stare past the wall he was building between them once again, "She still loved the bastard, for reasons I'll never understand...She kicked me out of the house, told me never to come back, that I was the reason he died. I kept an eye on my brother, though, until I left for Hogwarts, no mother, no brother their to say goodbye..." she bit her lower lip, deep in thought, caught up in her memories. "I didn't speak to her for an entire year. Talked to Thomas through the occasional letter, but even he had a hard time keeping in touch. I could feel the distance between us growing. Mum had been talking to him........That summer, I went back and tried to reconcile." Her face grew hard, anger and bitterness etched into her face. "Neither of us have really gotten over it, but we decided to put our differences aside, for Thomas' sake. He's only fifteen, he'd just lost his dad, however horrible he may have been. He didn't need to lose his mother and sister in the process, as well." He ripped his hands away from her, still furious, and she shook her head at him incredulously. "Where'd you go? After you left?" She demanded, needing the answer, for some reason.
He snorted at the look on her face. Angrily, he whispered, "And what does that make him, Kacie?" She sighed, giving him the only answer she could come up with. "A child. Someone with the chance to change, but doesn't know what to do. You know how you two were raised. How hard is it for him to learn the difference between right and wrong?" Growling again, he tore his gaze away from her, and she stared at him sadly as he did so. He shook his head when she suggested speaking to Regulus again. "I won't. Not until he proves to me that he's not on their side. Besides, I'm already growing bitter towards him, so what does it matter? Soon, it will all just be a memory." Kacie simply shrugged, disappointed that she couldn't talk any sense into him. "I can't force you to do anything, Sirius. It's your choice, after all." When he collided with her, he exclaimed, "What the bloody hell, Helms? Are you trying to get yourself killed?" They fell to the ground in a heap, and she gasped, the air momentarily knocked out of her. He glared at her as she held him, but he made no movement to escape from her embrace, for which, she was grateful. She didn't think she'd be able to handle it if he had. He chuckled softly, moving softly out of her arms and making himself lean on his arms on top of her. Her hands hung limply on his back, and she stared into his silver eyes, and she blurted out the first thing that came to mind. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought him up. I don't know when to keep my trap shut." She smiled, almost nervously, at him. His body was against hers and his lips very near to hers. She wanted so badly for him to kiss her, but instead, he rolled off of her, looking dazed. Rolling to his side so that she couldn't see him, he said, "I'm sorry, Kacie. I didn't mean anything I said. Really, I am." She sided, rolling onto her side, as well, facing him. She placed her hand on his shoulder gently, soothed with the thought that she was able to. It was calming to her, relaxing. "It's alright," she replied, "Everyone needs to vent once in awhile. And I'm too nosy for my own good. Sorry I pushed it," she apologized once more.
