Smirking widely when he noticed that she blushed an even darker shade of red, Sirius couldn't help but chuckle. But, he did as he was told, moving his hand away from her to make her feel better. He smiled when he noticed her embarrassed grin. It made him feel rather empowered, for it seemed that it was true. Every girl could not deny him. He smirked at the lack of movement she held when he was on top of her. He couldn't feel her breathing and that made him all the more delighted. When he read the desire in her eyes, he couldn't help it. He had to get off of her. A part of him was afraid to actually have a real relationship. Would he be able to handle something so precious? Would he be able to give up all of the girls he messed around with? He thought it was about time he calmed down and grew up, despite his childish antics still. He felt the youngest of all the Marauders, simply because Remus probably skipped his whole childhood, James didn't find as much amusement in the pranks anymore and Peter . . . well, he was just odd. Sirius found himself hating her when she moved on top of him. Playing at his own game. He had never met any girl of the sort. Smirking when he felt her nose against his, he chuckled softly. When she touched his face, he had to suppress a moan. He could never deny a woman's touch. When she mentioned his eyes, he moved his hand up against her waist, running it along her body. His fingertips brushed against her skin ever so slightly as he murmured, "Ditto." His eyes flashed brilliantly when she caressed him all the way down to his chest. He could barely take it. His hands clenched to fists, but he wouldn't touch her like that. Not unless she wanted him to. Without being able to contain himself, Sirius grabbed her around the waist, pulling her body to rest on his. Rolling over so that he was on top of her again, he pressed his lips to hers, feeling desire shoot through his body at the contact. Then, just as he was about to deepen the kiss, he pulled off of her, grinning cheekily. "Sorry, I think I got ahead of myself a bit." He chuckled at her comment, shaking his head. "If that secret became public, I wouldn't be able to rest. Every girl would really be desperate to get in my pants." He guffawed a the thought, thinking he would just throw them all to Remus if he got too many. He heard her tune and turned to gaze a the side of her face, whispering, "What's that? I don't think I've heard it before." Sirius was usually pretty good with songs, too. How could she be singing something he didn't know? It seemed utterly implausible.
Not particularly enjoying the subject of Snivelly, Sirius hated himself for continuing to ask questions. But, the fact that she agreed with him on pranking Severus made him smile. Especially when she mentioned that she wasn't friends with the git. It made Sirius even happier. At the mention of one of his pranks, Sirius smiled. Ah, the Veratiserum one. That one was quite amusing. But, of course Snivelly knew how to sniff out the one that was a potion. Stupid git was too smart for his own good. But, he was foolish when it came to the acts of the Dark Lord. He rolled his eyes at her chastising look. He knew it had been dangerous, but that's just how he was. He hated the Slytherins for messing up his family. Messing up his Regulus and Andromeda. It was disgusting. He was glad that his touch calmed her down. He reveled in that fact, a part of him not surprised. He didn't like her silence when he asked his question, for he knew that it could only mean that he was right. But, he didn't really care. He just wanted to know. He gave her a soft smile and whispered, "I wouldn't dream of it, Kacie." At the reappearance of his mask, he growled. "Don't do that, Kacie. Please don't hide yourself from me." He touched her face again and cringed at the thought of Andromeda. She did about the same thing, though, getting herself involved with a muggle-born. He sighed at the thought of her again, feeling saddened that he hadn't seen her in a long time. He missed her terribly. "I won't let them hurt you like they did her, Helms. I promise." He flashed her another smile. He eyed her softly when she asked about his laughter. Should he tell her that he thought she was amusing in this moment? Grinning, he murmured, "I just think it's funny how you find me so intoxicating. You're enjoying my presence aren't you, Helms?"
He chuckled loudly, his silver eyes glittering brilliantly. "And if I were? Helms, of course I was speaking on my behalf. I know from personal experience what keeping secrets does to one's soul." His face had turned serious as he spoke, but he didn't continue. He faked a look of hurt at her obvious disgust on him stripping naked. With a smirk, he muttered in a tone full of velvet, "I think you would like it very much, Helms. I could make you blush more than you'd ever imagine." He chuckled at the surprised look on her face. He couldn't stand serious moments. He hated them and always tried to avoid them. At her question, he sighed. Did she really want to know the answer? Did he really want to see the joy disappear from him for a moment. "One needs a good laugh nowadays what with Voldemort recruiting new members. Some people haven't even smiled because of their fear." For an interminable moment, he paused, his silence nearly deafening. "I want to see people smile in a world full of tears and despair." He didn't look at her for a long moment. This was the reason he didn't want to grow up. He didn't want to lose the feeling of enjoyment he got out of pranking people. He knew that after a while, the victims usually saw it as a laugh. Most of them, anyway. And, they usually put a smile on people's face, so he never saw anything wrong with them as long as he achieved one smile. Grinning at her laughter, he sighed in a relieved manner and listened to her explanation. Her mother sounded like an extremely interesting woman, but what female wasn't? James even got onto Sirius quite a few times for hitting on his mother. But, the Black couldn't help it. She was attractive. But, he always pulled it off as teasing. She always thought him amusing, though, so it was no harm, no foul.
He grinned when she nodded, glad that she had understood. Merlin, it wasn't as if he could tell. He smiled softly once more. "Oh, I was just making sure. I like to make myself clear. Really? I never would have thought of such a thing. I'd like to meet him, actually. He sounds like a good bloke. How old is he?" When he smiled and she didn't grin back, Sirius felt an eagerness to do anything in his power to make her do such a thing. He hated it when someone wasn't happy around him. He nodded at her answer. He didn't blame her. He wouldn't say that he completely trusted her yet, so he knew what she meant. Would he even be able to trust a girl with more than kisses and caresses? Could he actually befriend one and call her one of his good friends? He wasn't even that close to Lily. But, he would wait until she was with James to move in on her. He didn't want to warm up to her too much in case that scared her away from Prongs. "I can wait," he murmured softly. He chuckled. He probably should have learned to be a better concealer than he really was. It would have saved him a lot of trouble in the past. He chuckled rather darkly. "I find it more relieving to let people know how I'm really thinking or feeling in the moment. I feel it's part of life. I wouldn't want to hide anything. I'm sorry that you have to carry such a burden, Kacie." HIs smile was comforting. He smirked at her words, oddly being reminded of Remus. "You sound like Moony, Helms. I daresay he won't ever allow himself to fall in love with a girl. He said that he'd wait until he got out of school, too, but I don't think he will." He sighed, feeling sorry for his Werewolf friend. He nodded when she thanked him and listened to her anxious worrying. They could go to Hogsmeade whenever they felt like, really. They could even go to the Room of Requirements, if they wanted to. But, Sirius just looked at her when she said that there were ways. "What'd you have in mind, Kacie? I was thinking about Hogsmeadeor the Room of Requirements." He waited to hear her plan, not doubting its cleverness for a second. Sirius chuckled at her comment. He knew that Bellatrix preferred to be worshiped by all those that claimed to be Death Eaters, but since Kacie wasn't planning on being one, obviously, then there was no doubt in his mind why his cousin would hate her so much. He grinned at the thought, finding it humorous that Kacie could get underneath of Bellatrix's skin. He nodded before muttering, "Yeah, I can imagine as much. She hated it when I wouldn't during my last few months at home. I despised her during that time, more so than usual." He chuckled softly. He noticed her irritation and fought to find another subject to talk about. He had to agree, though, Bellatrix wasn't one of his favorite things to talk about. But, sadly, he couldn't think of anything but her extremely frightening laugh. It rang in his ears like a violent crack of thunder, but he tried to get rid of it. He hated it, that terrible sound that found its place in his nightmares many nights. He grinned at her, his silver eyes smoldering. "Well, in your case, yes. You've only showed me your true face a couple of times, Helms. But, I've enjoyed those moments."
Turning his face to hers when she sighed, Sirius threw daggers at her with his silver gaze. He snorted derisively. His eyes flashed hatefully. "He doesn't wear short sleeves, Helms. Even a fool would notice that. What makes you think he'd advertise such a thing? Even Bellatrix is not so stupid. He cannot be saved unless he wants to be." His eyes burned like fire when she called him a name. It wasn't the fact of being insulted that infuriated him. It was the fact that she didn't understand. "No." His voice was deadly, the tone final. He heard her growl and was vaguely reminded of his dog form. Was she an Animagus? Sirius tilted his head to the side but said nothing of it. When she mentioned her mother, Sirius eyed her sadly, the expression in his eyes slowly turning sorrowful. He didn't answer, knowing that it wasn't a question that required one. He already knew what the reply would be if he spoke. His face twisted in agony at the mention of her pain. Had he been so blind. He wanted to say something, to relieve her of this sadness, but he waited. The anger and bitterness that shifted onto her face was enough to make him cry. But, he didn't. His tears had dried for now. Frantically, he grabbed her face in his hands, staring straight into those deep green pools. Without thinking, he kissed her again, pressing hard against her mouth. When he broke away, he whispered, "I'm . . . sorry. For everything. I wish I could make it better for you." Sincerity laced into his tone and he dropped his hands away from her, breaking their contact. Her question caught him off guard but the thought of it made him calm down. With a faint smile, he whispered, "To James. His family took me in right away. I feel like a second son there, really. I've never felt like a worthy son before. And I'm not even related to them. Merlin, I wish I was." He sighed loudly.
He cringed at her words. A child . . . They hit him like a cold blow to the chest and he felt tears prick his eyes again. Furiously, he muttered, "You don't think i realize that? That's what makes this so bloody irritating! Children are so easily swayed, Kacie. I learned, Helms. I chose differently." His voice was laced in hatred. Merlin, finally! She was leaving it up to him and he was glad of the subject change. He hated talking of Regulus. He pursed his lips at her apology and chuckled darkly. "Obviously, Helms. But, you're the only one that's questioned me about him. Moony and Prongs don't bring him up. They know it's a touchy subject for me." He eyed her pointedly. Then, his gaze softened and he smiled at her. He really did appreciate her opinion, but dammit! She was so persistent. Part of him really did enjoy that part of her, but otherwise he felt really indifferent towards it. When he had rolled off of her and felt her hand on his back, he let out a sigh of relief, turning over so that he was facing her now. He scoot closer to her and gave her a heartbreaking smile. He shook his head sadly. "No, you didn't deserve what I said. It was out of character for me. I apologize, really. And, thanks. But, I'm to arrogant for my own good. I kind of know how you feel." He grinned softly, trying to lighten the mood, as was his skill.

Sirius smirked widely, then chuckled. She was disappointed when he did as he was told, moving his hand away from her. She smiled back sofltly, content with the silence for now. He smiled at her embarrassed grin, and she almost felt her heart stop. A small voice in her head was saying that she was only giving him what he wanted: a willing girl. She ignored it, knowing that it wouldn't go anywhere near that far with him. He smirked at the lack of movement she held when he was on top of her. She hated that smirk; it meant that he knew her reactions, how attracted she was to him. It was a cocky, arrogant smirk, and it irritated her more than it should have. He had to get off of her. She could see the irritation in Sirius' eyes when she moved on top of him, and she mirrored his smirk from earlier, triumph lighting up her green eyes. She had a feeling that no one had done this to him before, used his own game against him, and this made her all the more smug. Smirking when he felt her nose against his, he chuckled softly. When she touched his face, she could see the concentration in his eyes, something that made her grin impishly at him. When she mentioned his eyes, he moved his hand up against her waist, running it along her body, and she almost sighed at the touch. His fingertips brushed against her skin ever so slightly as he murmured, "Ditto." She smiled softly at the statement, "Thank you," she whispered. His eyes flashed brilliantly when she caressed him all the way down to his chest, and she grinned, knowing how much this bothered him. It was like a game of cat-and-mouse. Use the other's weaknesses against them. His hands clenched to fists, but he wouldn't touch her like that. She frowned, glancing down at them momentarilly, before, she continued. Her hand traveled to the top buttons of his shirt, flicking each one open smoothly, slowly, not moving her gaze from his eyes as she did so. She ran her fingers lightly over his chest, enjoying the feel of his skin beneath hers. Suddenly, Sirius grabbed her around the waist, pulling her body to rest on his. Rolling over so that he was on top of her again, he pressed his lips to hers, and she gasped in surprise at the contact. Without thinking, she pulled him closer, a sigh escaping her as she moved her lips against his. Then, just as she was about to deepen the kiss, he pulled off of her, grinning cheekily. "Sorry, I think I got ahead of myself a bit." She scowled at him, not bothering to hide the irritation she felt when he stopped. "Didn't bother me any," she muttered. He chuckled at her comment, shaking his head. "If that secret became public, I wouldn't be able to rest. Every girl would really be desperate to get in my pants." He guffawed a the thought, and she chuckled alongside him, entertained by the idea. "You really would be beating them off with a stick, then, wouldn't you?" He seemed to hear her tune and turned to gaze a the side of her face, whispering, "What's that? I don't think I've heard it before." She smirked at him, stopping her humming momentarilly. "It's a Muggle tune," she explained, then sang a few versus for him, a grin on her face as the lyrics flowed from her mouth:
"Dancin' in the dawn, Middle of the night Takin' your heart And holdin' it tight Emotional touch, Touchin' my skin And asking you to do what you've been doin' all over again Oh it's a beautiful thing, Don't think I can keep it all in I just gotta let you know What it is that won't let me go It's your love..."
At the mention of one of his pranks, Sirius smiled. She knew he must have been really happy to be reminded of the veratiserum one, for his smile was filled with amusement, his eyes dancing at the memories he held. He rolled his eyes at her chastising look. She shook her head at him, smiling as she remembered who she was talking to. Sirius Black didn't care if one of his pranks was dangerous or not, especially to the Slytherins. She just hoped that he knew just how grateful she had to be towards Severus, though. If she had drunken any of the veractuserum, her chances of survival might have been out the window. He seemed glad that his touch calmed her down. She took another deep breath, calming herself down, for the time being. He gave her a soft smile and whispered, "I wouldn't dream of it, Kacie." She smiled gratefully at him, and, without thinking, hugged him. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice filled with gratitude and sincerety. At the reappearance of her mask, he growled. "Don't do that, Kacie. Please don't hide yourself from me." He touched her face again and cringed. She closed her eyes at the touch, taking a deep breath. "I...I can't help it. It's a reflex reaction." He sighed, a sad look on his face, his eyes seeming distant momentarilly to a memory. "I won't let them hurt you like they did her, Helms. I promise." He flashed her another smile. She tried to smile back, but it only came out as a grimace. "But what about when you're not there, Black?" She asked, "What then?" He eyed her softly when she asked about his laughter. Grinning, he murmured, "I just think it's funny how you find me so intoxicating. You're enjoying my presence aren't you, Helms?" She smirked at him, shaking her head in denial. "You wish," she chuckled, her eyes flashing brilliantly in the moonlight.
He chuckled loudly, his silver eyes glittering brilliantly. "And if I were? Helms, of course I was speaking on my behalf. I know from personal experience what keeping secrets does to one's soul." His face had turned serious as he spoke, but he didn't continue. She raised an eyebrow at him. "I can imagine," she murmured. He faked a look of hurt at her obvious disgust on him stripping naked. With a smirk, he muttered in a tone full of velvet, "I think you would like it very much, Helms. I could make you blush more than you'd ever imagine." He was right, of course, but she was never going to admit it. "Nope, I'd shield my eyes and ask God why you had to make the windows shatter," she chuckled. He chuckled at the surprised look on her face. At her question, he sighed. "One needs a good laugh nowadays what with Voldemort recruiting new members. Some people haven't even smiled because of their fear." For an interminable moment, he paused, his silence nearly deafening. "I want to see people smile in a world full of tears and despair." He didn't look at her for a long moment, and she hated it. She wanted to see his face, to see his eyes. "That's a good thing," she said, "People should be able to laugh, and know what fun is, despite what's going on around them. The other Slytherins might not find it so amusing, but that's all you're trying to do. I admire that," she said. Grinning at her laughter, he sighed in a relieved manner and listened to her explanation. He seemed fascinated by her explanation, and she smiled as she saw the interest in his eyes.
He grinned when she nodded, glad that she had understood, apparently. He smiled softly once more. "Oh, I was just making sure. I like to make myself clear. Really? I never would have thought of such a thing. I'd like to meet him, actually. He sounds like a good bloke. How old is he?" She grinned at him, her eyes lighting up proudly at the thought of her brother. "He's fifteen," she said, "He looks a lot like me and my mum; thank God. And every summer I have to threaten him. He knows never to have a girlfriend when I'm home for the holidays. Scared I'll hex the mickey out of her," she chuckled. She remembered the reason behind her animagus. She had done it to protect him when she couldn't be there. That year of silence between she and her mother that year had been hard on her, and she had visited Thomas occasionally in her animagus form, the white wolf. When he smiled and she didn't grin back, gained an eager expression on his face. He nodded at her answer. She couldn't help but wonder if she would ever trust anyone fully. If she did, she couldn't help but hope that it would be Sirius that she grew to trust. He seemed to be a loyal bloke, someone that she could see herself being friends with, at least. "I can wait," he murmured softly, earning a soft smile from her in response. "Thank you," she replied. Then, as she stared at him, she muttered, "You aren't like most blokes." He chuckled. He chuckled rather darkly. "I find it more relieving to let people know how I'm really thinking or feeling in the moment. I feel it's part of life. I wouldn't want to hide anything. I'm sorry that you have to carry such a burden, Kacie." HIs smile was comforting. She nodded in reply. "I'm used to it by now," she said. He smirked at her words, and she couldn't help but wonder the reason for his reactions. What was he thinking right now? "You sound like Moony, Helms. I daresay he won't ever allow himself to fall in love with a girl. He said that he'd wait until he got out of school, too, but I don't think he will." He sighed, looking as if he was sorry for his friend. "Sounds like he's a smart bloke, then," she chuckled, then added seriously, "Maybe there's a reason for his unease. Is he afraid of hurting them?" She had seen Remus Lupin on occasion, and he seemed a nice enough bloke. He certainly couldn't be dangerous enough to harm the ones he cares about. Could he? He nodded when she thanked him and listened to her anxious worrying. They could go to Hogsmeade whenever they felt like, really. Sirius just looked at her when she said that there were ways. "What'd you have in mind, Kacie? I was thinking about Hogsmeadeor the Room of Requirements." She nodded in response, "But we'd have to go somewhere that the students don't bother to hang about," she replied. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "The Room of Requirement? Where's that?" She had heard of the room on occasion, but had never had to pleasure of discovering it. It was an understood myth about the school. Students believed in it, but they never searched for it. She shrugged, explaining the finer details of the plan that formed in her mind. "Well, we could use decode owls, seeing as our own would be too easy to recognize by other students. We could get to know more about each other that way, or even use the owls as a way to signal when and where we could meet without being detected." Sirius chuckled at her comment. He grinned at something, nodding before muttering, "Yeah, I can imagine as much. She hated it when I wouldn't during my last few months at home. I despised her during that time, more so than usual." He chuckled softly. He seemed to notice her irritation with the subject, as he looked as though he was searching for a meanst to change it. He grinned at her, his silver eyes smoldering. "Well, in your case, yes. You've only showed me your true face a couple of times, Helms. But, I've enjoyed those moments." She smiled at him, a real, genuine smile. "Thanks for the complement. I only wish I could say something as nice that was actually true," she teased.
He cannot be saved unless he wants to be." She let out an angry huff, looking away from him. "Fine," she growled, "Be that way. Let your brother be fed to the wolves. Let him get the bloody Dark Mark on his arm. Hell, let him die when it's too late for him to turn his back on Voldemort! Have it your way, Black!" His eyes burned like fire when she called him a name. "No." His voice was deadly, the tone final. She frowned, refusing to look at him. The mere thought that he wouldn't even consider trying infuriated her. She knew that they were not the same person, but she would never, never leave her brother to a fate as horrid as that. Sirius tilted his head to the side but said nothing. When she mentioned her mother, Sirius eyed her sadly, the expression in his eyes slowly turning sorrowful. He didn't answer. His face twisted in agony as she spoke. She wanted to yell at him, to scream. She didn't want his pity, nor did she need it. She just wanted him to understand. Almost frantically, he grabbed her face in his hands, staring straight into those deep green pools. Without thinking, he kissed her again, pressing hard against her mouth. She closed her eyes tightly against the sudden pain she felt in her chest, and kissed him back. When he broke away, he whispered, "I'm . . . sorry. For everything. I wish I could make it better for you." Sincerity laced into his tone and he dropped his hands away from her, breaking their contact. She shook her head at him, saying what was on her mind. "Don't. I don't need your pity, nor do I want it. I only told you so that you would understand that I'm not some clueless bimbo. I want to help you. I put my differences aside for my brother. I can't help but think that you should do the same for yours." Her question seemed to catch him off guard. With a faint smile, he whispered, "To James. His family took me in right away. I feel like a second son there, really. I've never felt like a worthy son before. And I'm not even related to them. Merlin, I wish I was." He sighed loudly. She smiled, "That's good," she said, "You weren't completely alone, then."
He cringed at her words. Furiously, he muttered, "You don't think i realize that? That's what makes this so bloody irritating! Children are so easily swayed, Kacie. I learned, Helms. I chose differently." His voice was laced in hatred. He pursed his lips at her apology and chuckled darkly. "Obviously, Helms. But, you're the only one that's questioned me about him. Moony and Prongs don't bring him up. They know it's a touchy subject for me." He eyed her pointedly. She merely shrugged, an I-didn't-know look plastered on her face as she gave him a small smile. Then, his gaze softened and he smiled at her. When he had rolled off of her and felt her hand on his back, he let out a sigh of relief, turning over so that he was facing her now. Her hand then moved from his shoulder to his face, cupping his cheek softly in her hand. His skin felt so soft beneath her hand, so smooth, so warm. He scooted closer to her and gave her a heartbreaking smile, her heart stuttering at the sight. He shook his head sadly. "No, you didn't deserve what I said. It was out of character for me. I apologize, really. And, thanks. But, I'm to arrogant for my own good. I kind of know how you feel." He grinned softly, trying to lighten the mood, as was his skill. She smiled back at him. "How about we both forgive each other, and call it even?" she suggested, moving a stray strand of hair out of his eyes.

Sirius couldn't help but laugh at her obvious annoyance at the fact that he knew her expressions in this moment. But, he loved it when she showed herself to him. Most other girls showed him everything at once, but he liked challenges a lot more. They were much more fun. He shrugged at her gratefulness and then looked away from her. He shouldn't get involved. He couldn't just rely on one woman's touch, could he? Could he live off of one woman alone? He could barely stand it, her caressing his chest. He wanted to attack her with his lips right then and there, but many years of fooling around with women had taught him control. But, her fingertips contacting with his skin sent his body into a spiraling zeal. He was glad that she hadn't pulled away from the kiss, but he suddenly felt awkward. They barely knew each other. He didn't know why it bothered him with her as it didn't with any other women. He raised an eyebrow at her statement and shrugged. Chuckling again when she mentioned that he would be beating them all of with a stick, he muttered, "Naw, I'd just tell them that Remmy was a virgin, too and I bet half of them would go running to him." He guffawed, rather unsure if his friend had had relations with any woman before. He knew the bloke was careful, so he doubted it. He nodded, having figured that it was a muggle tune. He knew every type of Wizard music there was, so he used his deductive reasoning skills. As she sang, Sirius felt transfixed by her voice. It was so sweet, so flowing, that he couldn't move. It was almost as if she were a Siren, leading him to his demise. "Beautiful," he murmured, voice like velvet.
Shrugging at her disapproving glance, Sirius muttered, "All I want is to spread laughter, Kacie. Even if it means it's at the expense of someone else's pride." He smirked, mostly referring to Severus Snape. He hated that kid with a passion. Especially after what he called Lily. But, he felt that most of it was because James hated him. He would always follow in his best friend's footsteps, but he sometimes thought he did too many things just because James did. But, then again, Prongs wanted Lily alone not the entire female population. But, James was ready for a relationship like that, or Sirius thought. Black didn't think he could ever have something like that. It might be too much. After all, he had never been in such a relationship, so he didn't know what to expect or fear. Then, as he thought again of that Veritaserum prank, he realized that Kacie might have blurted out her true intentions if she had sipped it. He grinned sheepishly over at her. "Well, I suppose you could add that to his list of good things he's done. Now, it adds up to one." He smirked, his silver eyes shining. When he hugged him and gave him her thanks once more, he simply nodded. He gave her a brief squeeze back, her scent wafting through his nostrils quite unstoppably. It smelled nice, actually. He sighed. "Well, try to make it a reaction to not do it around me." He smiled at her comfortingly, trying to portray that he would never betray her. He would have died rather than betray a friend. He gave her a soft smile when she asked what would happen when he was no around. "Then I suppose you'll just have to kick all of their arses without me." He grinned, chuckling softly. Narrowing his eyes when she negated the fact that she was enthralled by him, Sirius pulled her body closer to his, wrapping his arms around her. With a whisper full of velvet, his eyes like melting iron, he murmured, "Look me in the eyes and tell me otherwise, Kacie."
Knowing he probably shouldn't have said anything about the secrets he held within himself, Sirius threw her a look of fear, but it only lasted for a second. She didn't ask about them and he was thankful. But, she was showing him the same respect he had shown her just earlier. Sirius looked rather hurt this time, sincerely. He had so much vanity and pride, he found it quite disconcerting when a woman bashed him so much. Looking away from her, he whispered, "Well, I hope the woman I choose to sleep with for the first time doesn't think that. Otherwise I'd be in a load of trouble." There was a lightness to his voice, but he could only take so many blows to his ego. He knew his and the other Marauders pranks were always in good humor, but he knew that some of them had gone badly. But, he tried not to remember those, yet when he did, he still found them quite amusing. He gave her a sigh, a long depressed breath of air filled with despair. "It's becoming harder and harder to find things that will amuse people. I daresay that even if we make a joke, no one will remember how to laugh in the coming days. Already, there's been so many tragedies involving that damned Voldemort. Bloody bastard." His eyes darkened considerably, the light disappearing from the silver. They remained a deep gray, dead in there appearance.
A pang twisted in his heart at the fact that she was still so close to her brother. He was jealous of her, but their lives were different, involved completely different situations. Sirius hated it when she mentioned that he looked like her. Regulus looked like him, unfortunately. Every time he saw him, it made him furious. He didn't know why, he just didn't want to be thought of when Regulus was around. He didn't want people to see the resemblance. He chuckled. "Why? Don't you want him to have a girlfriend?" He eyed her with a raised brow. Nodding at her, he laughed suddenly and then exclaimed, "I don't think I've ever met anyone that thanks someone so much, Helms. It's cute." He quickly said the last part in case it would hurt her feelings or something. Then, his tone turned serious, his eyes sincere in their intensity. "I told my friends this and I'll tell you . . . I'd rather die than betray anyone that put their trust in me. And, even if you don't trust me, I still would rather face death than do anything to hurt you in such a way as betrayal." After all, he knew the feeling well. Raising an eyebrow at her remark, Sirius gazed at her with an almost unrecognizable expression. He had no idea how to reply to that, really. For a moment, he just sat there until whispering, quite softly, "How so?" He didn't say anything about her expressionless comment. She shouldn't be used to it. But, she had really no choice now, did she? He shrugged when she called Remus smart. Well, that was obvious. But, Sirius didn't think he was very clever when it came to girls. He didn't know the first thing about them. Or, so he figured. He showed a sliver of unease when Kacie asked about Remus's intention. Sirius was quite aware that it was because of his furry little problem, but he simply nodded in reply. He wouldn't say anything. He was afraid of getting into a serious relationship because he was fearful that he would hurt someone. It was nearly inevitable, but only because he had led himself to believe such things. He nodded at her worried words. "No one really goes to the Hog's Head Pub. Even if we went to the Three Broomsticks, we wouldn't have to look at each other. We could make it look like we weren't actually friends." He thought that would be too much, though. He didn't know if he could keep his eyes off of her if he was around her. Besides, he liked looking at people while he spoke to them. He felt as if it were rude otherwise. He smiled when she asked where the Room of Requirements was. Not many people were aware of it, and he was thankful for that. "It's on the Seventh Floor. Very few students know about it. We could do there a lot. But, we'd have to arrive at different times so as to not look suspicious." He hated having to meet her in secret. He just knew that it would be safer for her. Otherwise, he wouldn't have cared. He grinned at her idea. It was brilliant, and for a moment, he was surprised at the ingenuity. Shrugging, he said, "Yeah, we could do that and meet in the Room of Requirements. I'd have to take you there first, though. Otherwise you'd never find it." He pursed his lips and then remembered James' invisibility cloak. Before he mentioned that to Kacie, however, he'd have to ask Prongs first. He pursed his lips at her comment. There she went again insulting his ego. He was losing pride quickly. He knew she was joking, but sometimes he couldn't really tell. This was one of the reasons why he didn't like being around Lily and Mary much. They were just so damn arrogant and stuck up that they thought he wouldn't mind be talked down upon. Clearing his throat, he squirmed uncomfortably before muttering, "Well, I'm sorry you feel that way, Helms."
Sirius glared at her when she spoke to him. She was making it sound like this was his fault. Angrily, he exclaimed, "He made his choice! Don't drag me down with it! He let them disown me, Kacie!" Then, she went too far. Without thinking, Sirius clenched his jaw and grabbed her by the shoulders again. He rammed her up against a nearby tree and muttered, "Don't you dare say that he's going to die if I don't do something! Don't you dare pin this all on me! We all have choices! It will be his fault if his activities result in his death!" His eyes were full of despair combined with fury, a dangerous mixture. For a moment, he wanted to hit her, but he wouldn't. He wouldn't hurt her. He couldn't. Sirius was growing irritated that she wouldn't understand. She didn't realize how much was at stake for his brother if Sirius made the decision to go and talk to him. How many Slytherins would punish the younger Black for just being around his older brother? It was too dangerous, and Sirius wanted no part in that. When she talked of her mother, he noticed the anger in her eyes an his own narrowed. Why was she mad at him? He had said nothing to make her mad, for he had only given her what she had thrown at him. He looked at her quizzically when she mentioned pity. He laughed darkly. "I don't pity you, Kacie. I'm in awe of you because you've been this strong for your brother, something I could never do. But, then again, we have completely different situations to get along in, so there really is nothing either of us can do to help the other without running into stubbornness." He eyed her pointedly again, his silver gaze stammeringly clear of what he was speaking of. He was telling her to drop the mention of Regulus. Merlin, he hadn't remembered the last time he had even chosen to think of his brother, yet this girl, who was a Slytherin no less, had risen things in him that he thought had disappeared forever. He shook his head softly at her. "But, see, as you say you don't want my nonexistent pity, you must realize that I don't want your help, Kacie." He knew it was harsh to say such things, but he really had no idea what to do when it came to Regulus except to stay away from him. And everything Kacie was saying was telling him to go towards his little brother. He just wasn't ready to do that. "I can't," he whispered rather frantically. He didn't reply to her comment. He was alone, in the sense that he had no real family. Sure, he had Andromeda, but he hadn't talked to her in ages. He knew it was too dangerous at this moment to do such a thing anyway. But, he had no other family at all. He was alone in that sense.
When he noticed her gaze suggesting that she had never known that Regulus was a touchy subject, he hoped beyond everything that she would never bring it up again. He had told her clearly that he had no interest in talking to his brother, so there was no reason for her to talk about him even more. As her hand moved to his cheek, Sirius closed his eyes for a brief moment, comfort filling his veins. The warmth emanating from her palm made him quite calm, and he wondered how she could be doing such a thing. It was rather irritating actually, how she could have such an affect on him. Nodding at her question, he moved closer to her and pulled her body to his, resting his face very near to hers so that their noses were touching very softly. With a smile, he whispered, "Agreed." He smiled when she brushed his bangs out of his face. Grinning wider, he pecked her nose, rubbing his own against it and then chuckling.

Sirius laughed at Kacie's obvious annoyance, and that made her narrow her eyes, feigning irritation. She couldn't deny that this was a bit refreshing. She enjoyed his company more than she was willing to admit. On the surface, it was as though he was an open book, easy to read, like most boys, but she had a sneaking suspicion that this was not the case. There were mysteries left unsolved when it came to Sirius Black, and she wanted to decipher them all. He shrugged at her gratefulness and then looked away from her, something she couldn't help but find rather irritating. She wanted to see his eyes, to read the expressions hidden in the silver pools. For a boy with his reputation - and his personality - his self-control was impressive. She smirked at him, her finger dragging in a lazy circle around the skin at the opening of his shirt. "Your restraint is admirable," she whispered. She wanted to kiss him, to press her lips against his and stay there for the rest of eternity. He seemed glad with her response to his kiss, but she had a feeling that things were a bit awkward for him, and in turn, she began to feel uneasy, as well. How well did they know each other, really? She wasn't the type of girl that would....well, nevermind. She was the kind of girl that snogged random guys in broom closets and left them hanging in the end. She was a tease, no doubt about it, but with him...? It just didn't feel right. For some reason, she wanted it to be different with him. He raised an eyebrow at her statement and shrugged. Chuckling again when she mentioned that he would be beating them all of with a stick, he muttered, "Naw, I'd just tell them that Remmy was a virgin, too and I bet half of them would go running to him." She chuckled a bit loudly at the statement. "Half of them go after him all the time, anyway," she replied, "He's just too afraid to go after the very thing he wants. He seems like the type of bloke that's afraid - not because of his sexuality - but because he's afraid to hurt them." Many people had called Kacie insightful in the past, when they didn't realize that she was merely observant. She noticed many things about many people, merely from the way they acted. It didn't take much to notice Remus' apparent lack of interest in women. She knew it wasn't because he wasn't interested, as she had first thought, but from an unease with himself when a girl interacted with him. He was awkward, shy, and uncomfortable in his own movements. He guffawed, and nodded as she continued to sing. The words flowed freely from her tongue, as if she had been born to sing them. They brought her a joy that nothing else could. Sirius looked mesmerized by her voice, and she blushed beneath the moonlight. "Beautiful," he murmured, voice like velvet. She stopped singing momentarilly, smiling at him in the darkness. Her voice filled the night air, the words sounding long as she carried out the words. She continued to sing, her voice growing a seductive quality as she poured her heart into her favorite part of the song:
"It just does something toooo me, Sends a shock right through meeee, I can't get enooouuugh, And if you wonder, About the spell I'm undeeeer, Oh, it's your loooooove...."
Shrugging at her disapproving glance, Sirius muttered, "All I want is to spread laughter, Kacie. Even if it means it's at the expense of someone else's pride." He smirked, mostly referring to Severus Snape. She smiled back mischeviously in response, silently promising herself to send a few hexes Snape's way in the future. As she stared at him, his expression took on that of realization, and she was silently pleased that he finally realized what he had almost caused her to do all those years ago. He grinned sheepishly over at her. "Well, I suppose you could add that to his list of good things he's done. Now, it adds up to one." Kacie laughed, shaking her head in amusement at the boy before her. "Yeah, that's about right, I suppose," she agreed. Sirius smirked, his silver eyes shining. When she hugged him and gave him her thanks once more, he simply nodded. He gave her a brief squeeze back, and she fought the urge to lean against him. She could smell his scent, and it was intoxicating. He smelled like..."What type of collogne do you use?" she asked before she realized before she had spoken aloud. She blushed, a sheepish expression plastering itself upon her face. "Sorry, it's just...you smell like that Wizard's collogne. I don't remember what its called. I only smelled it once, in old Sluggy's class." They had been studying Amortentia, the most powerful love potion in the world. When she had been ordered to tell what she smelled, that intoxicating scent filled her mind, along with chocolate, the autumn air, and another scent she couldn't remember. When she noticed Sirius' scent, she was shocked more than anything. He sighed. "Well, try to make it a reaction to not do it around me." He smiled at her comfortingly, as if trying to portray that he would never betray her. She smiled softly at him. "I'll try," she conceded. He gave her a soft smile when she asked what would happen when he was no around. "Then I suppose you'll just have to kick all of their arses without me." He grinned, chuckling softly, an effort that she returned half-heartedly. She didn't bother to reply, however. She knew that he was trying to make the situation light, but there were somethings that not even he could make her feel nonchalant about. Narrowing his eyes when she negated the fact that she was enthralled by him, Sirius pulled her body closer to his, wrapping his arms around her. She gasped in surprise, but did not make an attempt to move away from his embrace. With a whisper full of velvet, his eyes like melting iron, he murmured, "Look me in the eyes and tell me otherwise, Kacie." She was breathless, her green orbs shining brightly in the moonlight. Blinking rapidly, dazed, she struggled to regain her thoughts. He had surprised her, that's for sure, and she was unprepared. "Er," she muttered, "Well..." she looked away from him, struggling to clear her head. It didn't work. She sighed, defeated, "I can't," she whispered.
Sirius suddenly threw her a look of fear, but it only lasted for a second. She was almost shocked by the look, but it was understandable. She didn't want him knowing all of her secrets either. At least, not yet, anyway. Surprising her further, Sirius looked at her rather hurt this time, sincerely. He seemed to be a person too filled with pride to reveal such secrets. She smiled fondly at him, being reminded of her brother once more. Thomas was just as prideful, just as stubborn. Something that ran in the family, and she was considered the worst of the litter on that front. He had seemed genuinely hurt by her teasing, and she instantly regretted it. Looking away from her, he whispered, "Well, I hope the woman I choose to sleep with for the first time doesn't think that. Otherwise I'd be in a load of trouble." There was a lightness to his voice, but she knew he could only take so many blows to his ego. She smirked, deciding to lighten the subject furthur. "Don't worry, I'll just steal a pair of your knickers and put them on display in the Great Hall. All of the girl's question of your 'manliness' will be solved, then." She chuckled, almost regreting giving him the idea. She only hoped that he didn't take her idea seriously, and then sneak into her dorm and take a pair of her knickers. He'd have hell to pay then, but it was Sirius. He was a smart bloke, and it was a prank he and the Marauders hadn't done yet. She sighed, hating the look of his eyes. She wanted to see the light, the fire in his eyes. She wanted to see him laugh and enjoy themselves. "I'm sure they'll be happy enough with the memories of the pranks you did in the past, grateful that you lot could bring laughter in a time like this. I know that's why you get away with half the things you do." she chuckled softly, "If it comes down to it, you can even use my idea for a good mid-term prank."
She took on a wistful expression as she thought of Thomas. Just a few more months, and she'd be able to see him once more. He was her brother, her best friend. Without him, she would be nothing, would have no one. He was her rock in this fierce storm called life, and she would not be able to go on without him there for her. It was painful to be seperate from him for any period of time, though she had had six years to get used to it. She missed him terribly. He chuckled. "Why? Don't you want him to have a girlfriend?" He eyed her with a raised brow. She chuckled heartilly, "Oh, he has a girlfriend," she said, "Now that I'm back at Hogwarts. Didn't want me hexing her into next week. I just hope she doesn't have some sort of disease," she grimaced at the thought, a small, entertained smile on her lips. Nodding at her, he laughed suddenly and then exclaimed, "I don't think I've ever met anyone that thanks someone so much, Helms. It's cute." Kacie blushed, and was glad once more that it was dark out. She hadn't blushed so much in her life; it was embarrassing. "Well, it's the way I was raised," she defended herself, "Saying 'please' and 'thank you'. Saying 'yes, sir' and 'no, ma'am', whether they deserved the respect or not." Suddenly, his tone turned serious, his eyes sincere in their intensity. "I told my friends this and I'll tell you . . . I'd rather die than betray anyone that put their trust in me. And, even if you don't trust me, I still would rather face death than do anything to hurt you in such a way as betrayal." She blinked at the statement. Then, smiling, unable to stop herself, she leaned forward and kissed him softly on the lips. "Thank you," she whispered, "No one's said something that meaningful to me. You're getting there, Sirius." Raising an eyebrow at her remark, Sirius gazed at her with an almost unrecognizable expression. For a moment, he just sat there until whispering, quite softly, "How so?" She chuckled quietly at the soft question, almost demand. "I figured you'd be the type of bloke that would either hex me because I'm a Slytherin, or try to get in my knickers because of my reputation, like most others, but you're different. They may wear gentlemanly masks, but their nothing but savages behind them. You, well, you're quite the opposite." He didn't say anything about her expressionless comment, something she wasn't surprised about. She had been used to it for years, even before she had attended Hogwarts. She'd had no choice in the matter. She had been forced to grow up at an early age, after all. He shrugged when she called Remus smart, an obvious reaction. Sirius simply nodded in reply to her inquirie about Remus Lupin. She smiled, deciding to let the subject drop for now. Each of the Marauders were a bit of a mystery, but she was simply content with discovering the secrets of Sirius Black. She did not care for the others problems as much as she would Sirius', but then again, she was beginning to see Sirius as something else. Maybe not a friend, but something along those lines. He nodded at her worried words. "No one really goes to the Hog's Head Pub. Even if we went to the Three Broomsticks, we wouldn't have to look at each other. We could make it look like we weren't actually friends." She almost cringed at the word, but did not allow herself to do so. She simply nodded in response. "Yeah, that could work," she murmured, "Or we could go to the Shrieking Shack? Hardly anyone goes there, what with the hauntings and all that." She suggested, simply throwing in another option. The Hog's Head was not her favorite place to be, with or without company, and the owner of the pub unnerved her a bit, reminded her far too much of Dumbledore. And she didn't like the idea of not being able to look at him while they talked. It seemed far to impersonal to her, and she knew without a doubt that she would be unable to keep her eyes off of him, otherwise. He smiled when she asked where the Room of Requirements was, and she almost felt ignorant for asking, "It's on the Seventh Floor. Very few students know about it. We could do there a lot. But, we'd have to arrive at different times so as to not look suspicious." She nodded in agreement. It sounded like a good place to meet him, though she hated the idea of having to force him to do something secret like this. She felt he shouldn't have to hide who he was simply for her own entertainment and paranoid personality. It would be safer for them both this way, however, and she had no other options to choose from. She nodded. He grinned at her idea. Shrugging, he said, "Yeah, we could do that and meet in the Room of Requirements. I'd have to take you there first, though. Otherwise you'd never find it." She nodded, a small smile on her face, "I'll have no problem explaining the owl, because the others won't really care. But what are you going to tell your friends when they see a strange bird handing you letters at breakfast time?" She chuckled at the image that came into her mind of a large bird flying over the Marauder's food, Sirius opening a letter as he laughed at his friend's misfortune of tainted food. He pursed his lips at her comment. There she went again insulting his ego. She was beginning to guess at how much her teasing really seemed to get to him. She smiled apologetically as he cleared his throat, squirming uncomfortably before muttering, "Well, I'm sorry you feel that way, Helms." Kacie chuckled, rolling her eyes as she shoved his arm playfully. "You know I'm only teasing," she smirked.
Sirius glared at her when she spoke to him. Angrily, he exclaimed, "He made his choice! Don't drag me down with it! He let them disown me, Kacie!" Then, she went too far. She knew it from the look in his eyes. Without hesitation, Sirius clenched his jaw and grabbed her by her shoulders once again. She gasped at the sudden pain in her back as he rammed her up against a nearby tree and muttered, "Don't you dare say that he's going to die if I don't do something! Don't you dare pin this all on me! We all have choices! It will be his fault if his activities result in his death!" His eyes were full of despair combined with fury, a dangerous mixture. She did not bother to retort, simply stared at him. She knew she had stepped over the line when she had said that, but she was not one for apologies. Her genetic stubborness kicked in when it came to that. She stared past him, towards the black waters of the lake, avoiding his gaze. Her jaw was clenched, her eyes hard emeralds, her arms beginning to ache from the firm grip of Sirius' hands. His own eyes narrowed as she mentioned her mother. He looked at her quizzically when she mentioned pity. He laughed darkly. "I don't pity you, Kacie. I'm in awe of you because you've been this strong for your brother, something I could never do. But, then again, we have completely different situations to get along in, so there really is nothing either of us can do to help the other without running into stubbornness." She chuckled bitterly, "Looks like we're alike in more ways than one, Black." She replied, though her tone was a bit lighter, less tense than before. He eyed her pointedly again, his silver gaze stammeringly clear of what he was speaking of. He was telling her to drop the mention of Regulus. She would oblige gladly. Anything to stop the arguing. She didn't want to fight with Sirius. He shook his head softly at her. "But, see, as you say you don't want my nonexistent pity, you must realize that I don't want your help, Kacie." Her jaw clenched at the statement, unwilling to let him see how much that statement stung. "I can't help it. I've always been the one that wants to help. Like the bloody mother goose, always watching over the others. It's second nature to me, Black, so you can't blame me for wanting to help you," she muttered darkly. "I can't," he whispered rather frantically. She thought about what he had said previously, and added, "You and Potter are both purebloods, right? So you two must be related in some form or another." It was a rather random statement, but if what she said was true, she hoped it added up to the happiness tally for him. He didn't reply to her comment. And he didn't have to be alone. She wished she could tell him that. That he wasn't alone, that she would always be there for him. But for some reason, she couldn't. Not yet, anyway.
As her hand moved to his cheek, Sirius closed his eyes for a brief moment, and she couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking about. She had agreed to drop the subject of Regulus, if not for good, then for now, at least. She had realized tonight just how touchy the subject was for him, and was sorry that she had done it in the first place. She couldn't help but believe that there had been a few bright sides to this, though. She had learned what he was like, learned some of his history, from his point of view. She was soothed by the fact that he did not pull away from her, and the feel of his skin beneath her palm made goosebumps rise on her arms. How could you be affected so much by someone you had just met? Had just began to learn about? Nodding at her question, he moved closer to her and pulled her body to his, resting his face very near to hers so that their noses were touching very softly, enough to silently curse him for his insistant taunting. With a smile, he whispered, "Agreed." He smiled when she brushed his bangs out of his face. Grinning wider, he pecked her nose, rubbing his own against it and then chuckling. For the first time ever a surprised, strangely girlish giggle escaped her lips, and she pulled her face away from his. "Stop," she grinned, "That tickles."

Sirius swallowed softly as her finger moved along his bare skin. Not for much longer, that was for sure. He turned his silver gaze to hers, eying those green eyes with interest and slight mockery. "I have no restraint, mademoiselle. I'm just fooling you like I do with everyone else." Of course he was joking, but he knew she'd figure that out on her own. There was no need for him to mention such a thing. He read the desire quite easily in her emerald eyes, but he said nothing of it. He wasn't surprised, after all. Every girl should be mesmerized by him, but for some reason, he preferred it much more from Kacie. His silver pools swiveled to hers when she spoke of Remus. He nodded, chuckling a little uneasily at her comment of half of the girls running after him. He sighed. "Yeah, but I don't think the poor bloke realizes it. If he does, he's got me fooled. I think he just doesn't want a distraction from his precious studies." He rolled his eyes. He didn't say anything about her last comment. He knew it to be true, but she didn't even know where that truth began. He was a Werewolf, a dangerous creature that could kill in a second. Remus thought that no woman could love that, but Sirius had a feeling that there was someone out there for his best friend. Grinning widely as she continued to sing, Sirius kept his eyes on hers, never letting his gaze drift. Her voice floated through his ears lovingly and with passion. He felt his heart pummel into his chest at the sound. He never liked it when girls were dispassionate. He felt that quite annoying for he had passion in everything that he did. Giving a slight laugh, he whispered, "You're the first girl I've met that has power in her presence and passion in everything she does." Besides Lily, of course, but she was simply fiery to begin with. There was no messing with that, but Sirius thought it to be quite amusing when he attempted to poke her buttons.
Nodding at her agreement in Severus's lack of goodness, Sirius watched her. Had Severus done more things than he let on? Was there good left in that slimy grease ball? He doubted it, but something in the pit of his stomach, something that he was very good at ignoring, was telling him otherwise. Raising an eyebrow at her sudden question about his particular scent, he guffawed gently. With a smirk, he whispered, "Something called 'British Sterling' James' father had some the last time we were at his house and he said I could have it." He shrugged. Then, his nostrils breathed in her own smell. It was nearly as intoxicating as his own, but he didn't let it show. With control, he muttered, "I assume you simply smell wonderful all of the time." His smirk was beautiful and charming in its light. He hated being serious, but most of the Marauders joked that he should because it was his name. He rolled his eyes at the thought. His eyes clouded over in thought at her comment about Slughorn. He remembered Remus talking about some potion that gave off a couple of smells that attracted you. He gave Kacie another glance then smirked. But, he didn't say a word. He didn't want to give her the satisfaction. He remembered the potion. It was called Amortentia. The love potion. How intriguing. Nodding at her saying that she would try, Sirius moved his hand underneath of her chin and flicked it upwards. "Don't let anyone hurt you, kid. Besides, the only ones that can betray you are the ones you trust. Messed up, isn't it?" He moved his fingers away and then sighed. When he didn't really laugh back at his comment, he turned to face her completely, his silver pools glistening with determination. With a voice of velvet, he murmured, "You tell me if any one of them bothers you, Kacie. I'll make sure that they don't ever try it again. And, to make things even better, I'll make sure they won't know it's me." He knew that that would be a concern to her, so he decided to mention. After all, he was pretty clever. With a smirk full of triumph, Sirius allowed a small pleased chuckle to escape through his lips. Grinning wider when she spoke, Sirius rubbed his body against hers quite nonchalantly. Then, he said, with apparent calmness, "Figures. I wasn't expecting you to give in so easily." He flashed another smirk.
Sirius laughed loudly at her joke. Playfully, he shoved her in the arm. It was light, hardly considered to be a shove. He didn't want to hurt her, but he doubted that much could shrivel her with her personality and hard exterior. "Great then, I'll give them to you the next time I see you." His silver pools were alight, the grey shining like gleaming sickles. Then, he realized something. With a low very noticeable chuckle, he said, "But, I'd need a pair of yours, wouldn't I?" His smile turned deadly for a second, full of mischief. But, he couldn't pull that off, could he? Hell, he could do it. He could do anything he wanted to. He was Sirius Orion Black. He shrugged at her words, not thinking so. But, then again, he didn't even want to talk about the real world. He wanted to stay inside of his own jokes, hide himself from the pain that the outside world brought him. He knew that in the years to come there would be a lot more tragedy. He could feel it in his bones, his very being. Voldemort was going to kill a lot of people and cause the world as they knew it to be corrupted and turned upside down. There wasn't enough courage in all of the wizards to stand up against him. Sure, Dumbledore was starting the Order of the Phoenix, which he let the Marauders know about just recently, but would they be enough to stop the Death Eaters. Then there were the Aurors, but Sirius knew that if all of the Death Eaters were anything like his cousin, they had to fight with fire. Most of the good people didn't believe in that kind of magic. Then, what were they to do? Simply defend themselves and hope to tire their opponent? Bellatrix was like a fucking dragon. She never grew tired. Sirius had a small feeling that they would fail, but he never would have said it aloud. Sighing with a slight smile, he whispered, "I think that the teachers only let us get away with it because it makes people forget about their troubles, even if it's only for a fraction of a second. I'd give anything to be able to make people smile forevermore in this time of darkness." He sighed again, his eyes back on the stars.
Blinking rapidly at her reply to his question about Thomas having a girlfriend, Sirius smiled cheekily. So, she obviously was very protective of her little brother. It was cute and he was jealous of her for it. But, he'd known from a very young age that he would never have a normal and loving relationship with his brother. He noticed her grin and upon squinting his eyes very slightly, he saw her blush. His eyesight was a lot better than most people's, but he didn't mind. Sometimes, though, it allowed him to see things that he would have preferred not to have seen. He raised an eyebrow at her suddenly defensive tone. He thought it rather amusing but simply said, "Well now, I meant no offense, Helms. I was just merely pointing out an admired quality that you have." He grinned cheekily. When she moved forward and pressed her lips so very gently to his, Sirius wanted to grab her and snog her until there was no tomorrow, but he kept his desires in check. He was a gentleman. He wasn't going to push it. At least, not yet. Smirking, he muttered, "I mean everything I say, Helms. You'll never find a time where I won't. Unless, of course, I'm pissed and fly off the handle." He guffawed slightly, his laugh filled with mockery. His eyebrows raised in surprise at her words. So, he did have her fooled from the beginning. No, he would never treat someone like that unless they damn well deserved it. Most of the Slytherins did, especially if their names started with Snivelly and ended with Snape. He chuckled at her last comment. Then, he put his hand to his mouth in mock amazement. "Well, it seems as if you've got me figured out, Helms. But, maybe I've been fooling you all along." He chuckled, knowing he'd never be able to do that. He was too blunt with his emotions and thoughts to be anything close to a liar. Sirius was thankful when she dropped the subject of Remus. He was starting to feel uneasy about that. Sure, he didn't mind talking about his friend, but Kacie seemed to be delving deeper. He was used to talking about him with stupid girls. Kacie wasn't anywhere near unintelligent. He stiffened at the mention of the Shrieking Shack, his mind filling with all of the nights he had watched Remus morph into the monster that lay so deep inside of the truly calm young man. It seemed a terrible curse, but Sirius knew he'd never let him down. Blinking rapidly, he looked at Kacie and muttered, "I'd really rather prefer somewhere else. I don't much like the Shrieking Shack. It gives me chills." He wasn't afraid of it, no. He knew that the rumors had been brought about because of Remus. He just didn't want to go there unless it was necessary and for the safety and comfort of a friend. At her question of Owls, Sirius laughed. Of course, if she allowed it, he was going to tell his friends everything. He knew he could trust them. "I was just planning on letting them in on this, actually. They wouldn't mind being friends with you, either. Remus actually told me you talked to him." He wiggled his eyebrows appreciatively, grinning from ear to ear. He shrugged when she said she was only teasing and Sirius looked away from her, trying to regain his composure. "Just not used to a girl insulting me so much. Besides Lily, of course. But, she doesn't count. I can't have her, so I don't really count her as a girl." He smirked at how low and idiotic that sounded. But, he didn't care. He knew the redhead didn't like him anyway. He was pleasant to her, however, when he could be. Only when James was around was he the nicest to her.
Sirius didn't like seeing the pain in her eyes. But, damn it! She shouldn't have said that it was his fault! Everyone made choices and decisions that made clear paths for their futures. Regulus made his own and Sirius was betrayed. Only because he trusted his brother to follow him. But, when he didn't, everything fell apart around him. He was lucky to have James to live with. He remembered that stormy night quite clearly, appearing on his best friend's doorstep muddy and drenched. But, James had taken him in without a second thought and Sirius was grateful beyond anything for him in that moment. He knew that James was a better man than he could ever be. When he focused back on her, he noticed her looking away. Furiously, he screamed, "Don't do that, damn it! Look at me, Kacie!" Her clenched jaw matched his own. He chuckled darkly at her comment but made no retort. He figured that this wouldn't work out. He know thought it foolish to think of her in any other way besides a friend. He couldn't have a romantic relationship with her. It would be too much. After all, she knew too much about him already. She knew his weakness. Regulus. He dropped his grip away from her and then turned away, attempting to control his fury. His eyes turned back to hers, blazing like iron. "When will you learn that not everyone deserves your help, Kacie?" It was a rhetorical question but it was obvious he was referring to himself. His voice was broken, nearly monotonous in its abysmal despair. He doubted it. He would have known if James was related to him. Besides, he remembered vaguely how James' parents had tried to look that up, but there was no luck. "No, I'm not. They already tried to find that out. I'm alone, Kacie, and there's nothing you can do about it." He hated being like this. Where the hell was the laughter they shared not fifteen minutes ago? Sighing loudly as he stayed close to her, Sirius knew that he should be leaving soon. Clenching his jaw, he murmured, "How about you send me a letter first thing tomorrow morning? We can make up a meeting then." He smiled again before caressing her cheek. Then, without further ado, he pulled her body close to his, encompassing her with his muscular arms. Then, he kissed her passionately on the lips, pulling away very slowly. Standing up and pulling her up with him, he bowed and then kissed her hand. "Until we meet again, mademoiselle." His tongue rippled with French silk and he flashed her another smile before disappearing into the blackness as he walked up the stairs and inside of Hogwarts.
