James couldn't help but frown once again as he heard Bellatrix. Damn, she had seen through his idle threat. Actually, it hadn't been truly idle. He would hurt and kill to defend those who he loved. But just thretening them, such as Bellatrix had done, wouldn't get him riled up enough to do anything. He heard what she said next and sighed to himself. How could he think she didn't know anything about his loved ones? Of course she still knew people at Hogwarts, so she must have known what was going on. He glared at her and then shook his head and said in a slightly defeated tone, "No Bellatrix, I don't want to push it..."
James smirked, which he knew he probably shouldn't have. He didn't need to make Bellatrix any madder than she already was. He said, "No Bellatrix, I do not feel like fighting, how many times must I tell you that? Besides, I dont have to prove anything to you." He heard Bellatrix telling him about being talkative and just shook his head, knowing that she was still trying to get a rise out of him. She still thought it would be easy, but James had certainly learned how to control himself more than when Bellatrix had been at Hogwarts.
He frowned again as he heard the other things Bellatrix had to say to him. The shock showed in his eyes as she talked about him being an Auror when he got out of sc hool. How could she have possibly known that? There were only a few people that did. He growled slightly but told himself to calm down. He really didn't need to get into a fight right now. If he gave into his anger, that meant Bellatrix would have won, and he would NOT have that happening.
The black haired Gryffindor didn't even have time to comprehend what Bellatrix said as he heard another voice. This voice was one that he knew very well. He turned around and saw Lily standing there. He frowned slightly and then turned back to Bellatrix and pointed his wand at her as he heard her. His eyes once again burned with hatred for the Death Eater. He said in a tight voice, "Don't even think about doing anything to her..."
The next thing he knew, there were many different kind of spells coming at him. He quickly cast a protective shield around himself, but he still refused to fire any shots back at her. He knew that he could not win, no matter how hard he tried. He just wasn't as trained in dueling as Bellatrix was. He had to admit that his pride was taking a blow from realizing that, but he would rather have a blow to his pride then end up dead.
He continued to glare at her, wishing that Lily wasn't here, but at the same time, James couldn't help but feel slightly relieved that she was here. He now had backup if something went wrong. He said once again, "Just walk away, I don't want to fight you..."

Normally, Lily liked to find the good in people. She liked to believe that people weren't these cruel hearted individuals. But Bellatrix prooved that theory wrong. It was too easy to hate the woman. It was hard to ignore her words, in the pit of her heart she knew they were just words feuled by an incompetant woman driven by prejudice. No matter how much of it she put up with, it was hard to ignore someone who was referring to you as 'filth'.
She did her best to not let it get to her. They were words from a sadistic bitch. They meant nothing. The anger was clear in Lily's emerald eyes. Her speach revealed alot though. Definetly revelead why James had not drawn his wand. The boy was refusing to fight. Honestly, she was a bit surprised. The boy was brilliant in defense against the arts, this shouldn't have been a problem for him, and normally James had a habit of being a bit rash, so a fight with Bellatrix didn't surprise her the least. But refusing to fight... maybe a bit stupid move in the long run, but she was proud of him in a way. It definetly shown he had grown up a bit. As a pure blood, he could afford not to fight, Lily did not have that luxury.
She blocked the spells quickly. Sure, she was silent, but she was obvious. Lily had a feeling Bellatrix would underestimate them because of age... and she was fine with that to be honest.
If James was refusing to fight, she felt partially obliged to put off casting a spell. She was reluctant, considering she was positive Bella would kill either of them if she could, but mentally she told herself protective spells only until she felt it was necessary to fight back. "It's two against one Bellatrix " she said coldly glairing at her, " You won't win this. "

Bellatrix smirked when James frowned. It was such a lovely sight when people realized that they were losing. That was how she took his expression, anyway. Because of her conceited nature, Bellatrix took negative emotions on someone else's face as a secret triumph in her favor. It usually meant that someone was confused or unsure of what to do next. That was her favorite type of victim. The raven-haired witch knew that she probably wouldn't get a true rise out of him until she specifically endangered someone that he was close to, namely his precious Lily. She only wished Snape was here to see it. She knew of his affections for the redhead and found it amusing when he had insulted her in front of all those people. She saw it as a step up from being the nothing that Snape had been, her respect for him growing. That was, until she heard about him begging for her forgiveness. Damn fool. Narrowing her eyes at his defeated tone, she jumped up and down wildly, itching for a kill. She smiled her cold grin before hissing, "It seems as if the miscreant has grown up. Tell me, Potter, have you relayed to my cousin of this alteration within you? I daresay he would be quite upset about your maturity." She was finding him boring and was eager to acquire a reason to get away. If he was impervious to her charm, she was going to find someone that wasn't.
Smirking at the shock settling in his deep hazel eyes, Bellatrix declared, "Like I said, Potter, I have many sets of ears at that Merlin-forsaken school. You should be careful who you talk around next time." It really didn't matter who he spoke to, for she could retrieve memories from anyone's brain if she so felt the desire. When Lily arrived and James became suddenly ferocious, Bellatrix rolled her eyes. She assumed he was simply trying to prove himself to this rotten trash. That's all the mudblood was, really. Furiously enraged that James only cast offensive spells, Bellatrix roared, the sound poisonous in its depths. With devilish pleasure, she pointed her wand at the tops of the buildings just behind the couple. BOMBARDA! she thought irately. Walls came crumbling down behind them, blocking their way out. At least for a while, anyway. Bellatrix knew of Lily being quite intelligent, but not as much as herself. Angrily, she screamed, "Do you have any idea who I fucking am, Potter? I AM BELLATRIX FUCKING BLACK! I SHALL HAVE YOUR BLOOD!" Her eyes darkened considerably, the lust for their pain magnifying through her entire body. She wanted to kill them both with a single stroke, a blink of her eye, but she wanted their screams first.
Bellatrix simply smiled her wolf-like grin as she noticed the anger in those shining emeralds. She found it highly amusing that the redhead was pitifully mad at her. Rolling her eyes, she knew that the girl would barely be able to make a dent in her. When she simply blocked the spells, the silver pools in the heavily lidded eye sockets increased with vicious malevolence. "NO, NO, NO! YOU MUST FIGHT ME OR I WILL SLAUGHTER YOU!" Then, horrendously, she spun around in a circle, resembling a macabre ballerina, her soaking wet black hair swinging around her body as she did so. Viciously, she exclaimed, "AVADA KEDAVRA!" There was no way to block the Unforgivables. It was one of the reasons they got their name. Her head tilted to the side mockingly as Lily spoke to her. Rolling her silver eyes around inside of their sockets, she giggled cruelly, beginning to jump up and down once more. "I will win. I always win, filth. Especially if only one of you is fighting." She grinned horrendously, her grey eyes flashing to James violently.

James found himself frowning again, hating that he was stuck here doing this now. He didn't want to fight anyone. He glared at Bellatrix, namely because she had mentioned Sirius. Even though he and Sirius were having their differences right now, he still didn't want Bellatrix talking about him. He finally said, "Don't worry about what he has to say about it..it's none of your business..." He actually knew for a fact that Sirius had looked up to him when he found out that James had learned to control his temper. The black haired Gryffindor knew that Sirius wished he could get ahold of his temper, but in James' opinion, Sirius' temper was what made him Sirius.
The 7th year heard Bellatrix's words and cringed slightly. He hated when people knew stuff about him that he didn't want them to know. He sure as hell didn't want Bellatrix Black knowing anything more about him than she already did. He briefly found himself wondering who at Hogwarts would be talking to her and giving her information about him, and god knows who else. He sighed softly and muttered, "Yah, I guess I will have to watch who is around when I'm talking...."
James looked at her, his eyes hard as she screamed about him knowing who she was and what not. Of course he knew who she was, everyone did, it wasn't any big surprise that she was now saying stuff like that. With Lily here now, James was more liable to let his temper get the better of him if it meant protecting Lily or getting her out of here. He raised his wand slightly, yet still refused to point it at Bellatrix. He had never been the violent type. He usually only used violence when there was no other choice, and then was slowly becoming one of those situations.
He heard Lily's voice, telling Bellatrix that she was outnumbered, but he highly doubted that the older girl would care. She was just out for blood, anyone could see that. The next thing he knew, he heard the worst words he could ever hear...Avada Kevada. He immediatly grabbed Lily and he took them both to the ground and after the spell passed he jumped up and pointed his wand at Bellatrix, the fire burning brilliantly in his eyes now. He felt nothing. No fear, no anger, he was just numb, but for the first time in his life, he knew he wanted to draw blood.
He looked at Bellatrix again and spat, "Fine, if it's a fight you want, it's a fight your going to get...and lose..." He continued to hold his wand on her and then quickly glanced at Lily and said, "Hey, you alright?"

So much for protective spells. Bellatrix was out for blood. It was strange actually. The killing curse is something you learn so much about . It's one of three unforgivable curses, they have to teach you it, they have to tell you why its wrong, and why it shouldn't be used. It's something you hope you don't have to fight againt. That moment was the first time Lily honestly heard that curse used. It was shocking. It was one of those moments you hoped would never happen. The moments you want to happen the least, the ones you prepare for. If your not prepared when they happen, you'd be cold dead on the floor.
The problem with the killing curse, is you can only be so prepared. You need to teach your self an instinct, so the second you heard the first word of the curse, your out of the way of the spells path. So that was Lily's strategy, get the hell out of the way. James' too apparently. She was already in motion when he grabbed onto her. Her hands clenched onto his arms tightly as he forced her down to the ground. Her back hit against the concrete, but she ignored the pain . She was better in pain than dead .
She moved quickly to her feet, her wand aiming at Bella. Unlike James her mind was a mess of emotion, but she tried to mask it all. Part of her was terrified, this was one of those situations she knew was inevitable, but all it did was prove how real this war was. Hatred boiled in the veins of purebloods, they were out for blood, out for victory. And unfortunetly, people like Lily... well they were the targets. It was terrifying. Sure she was aware that people were out there who hated her simply because she was alive, people who wanted her dead for that reason. But she hadn't really been in a situation like this. Now it all felt too real. "I'm fine." she lied, emerald optios peering coldly at Bella. As much as she wanted to pretend that she was okay, that the fear wasn't there, her eyes spoke the truth.
So here they were, two against one, and it was clear Bellatrix was more than fine with murder, Lily didn't want to give her that chance again. Expelliarmus she flicked her wrist with the thought, a stream of light leaving the wand.

Bellatrix watched as James frowned once more, his frustration clear on his traitorous face. Why would he want to be an Auror if he could not even fight her? He was pathetic and the next time she had the displeasure of being around Sirius, she would tell him so. She always did enjoy prodding her cousin's sanity. A smirk curled the left corner of her mouth, tinging her face with a wickedness that seemed to fit her entire body language. Idly, she tilted her head to the side, gazing at the young Gryffindor with a powerful glare. "None of my business, Potter? I find that extremely offensive. It is my business to know everything about the potential Aurors and probable targets at that damned school." She giggled violently, the sound vicious in its depths. She sounded similar to a feral animal, her twisted grin in smooth comparison with that of a hyena. She licked her lips when he cringed upon her knowing things about him. It was a triumphant feeling that she prized above most things, besides fear and blood. Having the advantage over someone else made her more superior than she had already been born. It really didn't matter who was around James when he spoke. She could gain information off of any unsuspecting students whenever she caught them out of sight of that wretched Albus Dumbledore. Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley were her favorite spots to catch them off guard. She always pulled them in like a spider, trapping them into her web of deception and danger.
The raven-haired witch wanted to make sure people feared her. If there was no fear, she didn't have the ultimate power over them. It would be a futile effort in fighting them if there was not even an inch of terror in their eyes. She watched his wand raise ever so slightly, her silver optics increasing with anticipation. Just a little more prodding and she would have him. If she could harm the mudblood, she could get James into a fit of rage. It would be glorious. Although not the patient type, Bellatrix always wanted to find ways to mess with their thought processes. Watching as the two lovers fell to the ground in a heap as James attempted to save her, Bellatrix began to jump up and down excitedly, her silver globes glittering with mischief. Chills of beautiful victory raced down her spine as she noticed the hazel eyes of James Potter. They were full of such a fire that it made her realize that the fight between them had now become imminent. The bloodlust in his eyes gave her pride for she had finally gotten to him. She had won. Smirking as he spoke, she hissed back, "I am so thankful that you have finally figured out what it is that I desired, Potter. It took you long enough." She fired three Cruciatus Curses in their direction, just as his eyes moved to Lily.
Bellatrix had killed many people, a leading factor as to why her mind was so unstable. But, the difference in herself and her beloved Voldemort was the fact that he could control his desires better than she. She was desperate to feel the blood of others upon her own skin, eager to hear their screams of terror. He had a purpose and a plan, yes, but she never did like being patient. She wanted to get down to business once thrown a direction or order. It was only natural that her soul was ripped, but she had never created anything like a horcrux with that kind of magic. She knew that her Lord was desperate to live forever, but she had no such feelings. If she fought to the death, then it would have all been worth it.
Eyes glistening when Lily stood up quickly and aimed at her, Bellatrix smiled relentlessly. The fact that they thought that they could beat her simply seemed to amuse the raven-haired psychopath. She read just an ounce of fear in the redhead's eyes, for she was close enough to see them, and suddenly realized why Snape was so obsessed with her. Her eyes were quite pretty, but they were no excuse as to cancel out her dirty blood. Any suitable person should just kill the mudbloods off without a second thought but some people wanted to be high and mighty do-gooders. Bellatrix liked to kill them the most. A devilish smile wickedly curved her lips as she giggled and the Death Eater hissed, "Aw, is the wittle baby scawed?" She cackled horribly, the velvety sound echoing throughout the alleyway. Momentarily caught off guard, Bellatrix suddenly saw the flash of light and jumped out of the way. Grinning from ear to ear, she spun around appearing like a macabre ballerina, her mind shouting SECTUMSEMPRA! multiple times. The spell sometimes hit a building or a lamppost, but at least four went in the direction of the two students, eager to cause pain for their caster.

The black haired Gryffindor hated being taunted Bellatrix, or anyone else come to think of it. He had never been one to let that slide, ever since he was younger. He checked his anger again, forcing himself to try and keep his cool. He looked at her again as he heard her voice. He hated to admit it, but she did have a point. He should also start learning everything he could about the enemies he would possibly be facing once he was an Auror, or even just for the upcoming battle that they all know was going to come. The thought of the war quickly brought other thoughts to his mind, mostly those things that he and Lily had talked about. Him and her not being able to be together for too long, or at least that’s what she had seen in her visions. Even after she had told him that, James had tried not to let his fear show. He didn’t want to be separated from her after such a short time of them actually being together. He shook his head and immediately got his mind back to the present, and what was going on right in front of him.
He put his mind back on Bellatrix for all of about 2 minutes before his mind went back to the whole impending war thing. He and Sirius had already talked about it as well, and knew that they would be standing side by side when the time came, no matter what. He couldn’t help but hope that nothing would happen to either Sirius, Remus, or Lily. He didn’t think he could handle it if something actually did happen. Sirius, Remus and Lily were the best things in his life, they were what kept him sane, kept him looking forward to each new day.
By the time he got his mind back on what was going on was in just enough time to save him and Lily. When he heard Lily answer him, he looked over at her, and he immediately knew she was lying. The look in her eyes told him that she was scared. Normally, he would be scared in a situation like this too, but he was too ticked off to even care right now. He was glad Lily was ok, and immediately looked back over at Bellatrix and just shook his head. He heard her voice and said, “Well, you got what you wanted, you just going to stand around and talk now?”
Even though James was now face to face with a trained killer, he still didn’t feel any kind of fear, or any other emotion other than rage. He felt the need to make sure that Lily was protected at all costs, and he didn’t care about what might happen to him in the process. He knew that he should get control over himself, before something else happened, but at the same time, he felt free for the first time in his life. He knew nothing could stop him now, save for Sirius coming and getting him to calm down. He would never admit it, even if he was asked, but he highly doubted that Lily could even calm him down.
James saw Lily raise her wand, and yet didn’t do anything to stop her. He knew the battle was pretty much between him and Bellatrix, and he didn’t want anyone else getting hurt in the process. James glared at the adult in front of him as he heard her voice. He sighed and said, “Leave her out of this Bellatrix, this is between me and you…” He kept his wand up and watched Bellatrix. Before he knew it he had cuts appearing on his body and it took him a minute to realize that Bellatrix would know how to do spells without actually saying them. He frowned and immediately sent a disarming spell towards her, his eyes still burning.

Normally, Lily wasn't a fighter. She'd be the one trying to make a point. She'd be the one using defensive spells, or simply trying to calm the situation down. Normally, she'd be proud of James for the way he handled this situation. In all honesty, she would have expected him to curse her ages ago. But now, now she knew that this wasn't the way they could approach this situation.
Sure, Bellatrix was probably looking for a reaction. She was trying to pull at their nerves, to see how long it would take until one of them would snap. But really, how long could they really last by acting like the 'bigger' person. Bellatrix would do all the things Lily and James wouldn't. She was cruel and sadistic, she got off on pain. She was the kind of girl who toyed with her prey before finishing the kill. This was all a game to her. A game Lily didn't want to be a part of.
But what the hell was she supposed to do? Make a silent stand beside James? She respected him for not wanting to fight, but now wasn't the time for that. And as much as he thought this was purely between him and Bellatrix he was wrong. The moment she saw him in this situation her heart was involved, Bellatrix didn't even need to pull her in.
The worst part about this was that Bellatrix was actually talented. She was good at using spells with out words, better than Lily would have liked. Lily wasn't horrible at it, but she definitely didn't have the practice Bellatrix did. She thought she managed to block all of the woman's spells, but as she felt the warmth of blood moving down her arm and cheek she knew she was wrong. The blood moved slowly down her cheek, she could taste the sweetness of that cruel liquid as it touched her lips. She didn't need to hear the spell to know what it was. Sectumspetra. She had seen it used, she had seen it created. If Bellatrix knew that spell, her suspicions were confirmed. Severus Snape was a death eater, or at least in this deeper than he should have been.
As far as she was concerned, she was done with the games. She was done letting Bella play with her head. If it was the reaction Bellatrix wanted, Lily would give it to her. If James wanted to silent and bold, so be it. She wasn't taking a defensive standpoint anymore. Emerald eyes didn't budge from Bellatrix as she flicked her wand. She wouldn't use the forbidden curses, but she would definetly use their surroundings to her advantage. Her wand moved to the light post at Bella's side Expulso she thought as a beam of light escaped her wand, colliding with the lamp post. The post exploded upon impact, shattering to hundreds of little pieces.
