He looked at Kacie and nodded slowly and said, "You don't have to worry about that Helms...if we ever got to do that, you can be sure that we would get Snivellus..." Kacie smirked at Potter, unsure. She scrutinized his expression for a moment, finally deciding that he might as well be speaking the truth. Sighing, she told him the password to the Slytherin Common Room. A moment later, her eyes glittered mischeviously. "You'd better get the whole bloody house good," she threatened, "If you don't, I'm liable to do it and blame it on you. I would hate to give you guys a larger amount of fans on my part." She took on an arrogant expression as she spoke, as if she were better at planning pranks than he was. She hoped that he knew her to be joking. Just to be sure, however, she added. "Sarcasm, Potter. One of my many attributes." He heard Kacie's voice again and looked at her, a shocked expression plastered on his face. She almost regretted giving away this information. Then again, the more people knew about their enemy, the better the chance they had at stopping them. James then shrugged to himself, remaining silent. She looked away, towards the lake, and let the subject drop.
James smirked and said, "I never said that guys didnt think your a goddess.....and you want me to name someone? Fine....I dont...but then again, I have my mind on someone else..." She turned to look at Potter once more, a surprised smile on her face. A real smile. She had expected him to make a witty comeback, not something she took along the lines of... "My my, Potter, was that a compliment I heard? I never thought you were capable of such things to anyone but Evans. If only there were more blokes as good at lying as you are." He smiled at her and said, "Well fine then, I'm sorry for stating the obvious..." She chuckled, "It's alright," she replied. Suddenly, her eyebrows furrowed over her green eyes, scrutinizing him for a moment. "What do you call Evans when you see her?" She asked randomly. She saw his eyes widen in amazement at the next thing she said. She almost wished that she would just fall off her broom. She couldn't believe was actually having a civil conversation with Potter. He had been one of the worst Marauders, next to Pettigrew, of course. Then again, Potter wasn't a traitor. Maybe he was alright. He shook his head, and she was curious as to what he was thinking about. Evans, most likely. She had had a terrible day today, and he had made it a tad bit better. Maybe she could do something for him in return?
James shook his head as he heard what Kacie said next. James seemed to notice the smile come to her face and he raised his eyebrows slightly. He laughed at her answer to his last question and smirked and said, "Yikes, thats bad Helms....well, I guess thats one thing we have in common..." She smirked at his expression. "I won't tell anyone if you don't," she chuckled. Eventually, she found herself growing bored. She was the kind of person that could be easily entertained and easily bored at the same time. "I'm bored," she mused, and without hesitation, she took off on her broom at full speed. She lifted the broom a few feet further into the air, and cut a backflip in the air. "Whoohooo!" she shouted, her laughter filling the night air. She did a few more tricks in the air - one including her releasing her broom and cutting a backflip in the air, broomless, soaring into the air until she landed on her broom once more - and sighed in contentment. This was what she loved about Hogwarts. No matter how horrid your life could be, the magic in this place was enough to cure your troubles and worries, if only for a little while.

James had been looking around but his attention snapped back to Kacie as he heard her voice. Geeze, why did she hate that house so much? If he didn't get the whole house good? He shook his head, stiffiling a laugh. If only she could see the look on her face right now. He smirked and said, "Awww, you insult me Helms...you know full well that Sirius and I would make sure we got everyone and cause bloody hell if we ever got into that common room..." He knew it was true. He and Sirius would actually like nothing better than to get into that house and cause some hell. Sirius would probably like it just a tiny bit more than James, as he hated all the Slytherin, especially his brother Regelus. He shifted his gaze into the night and then back to Kacie and smirked and said, "Yah Helms...I picked up on it...."
The 7th year saw the smile that came onto Kacie's face, and had to study it for a second. Was that a real smile he was seeing? Or was he imagining things? He finally decided that it was a real smile, the first real smile Kacie Helms had ever given him. Maybe, just maybe, she was starting to not hate him so much. James shook his head and said, "Awww, come off it Helms...you told me to name someone who didnt think you were a goddess....and I did...thats all..." He shrugged, trying not to make a big deal about it. He had just been being truthful, for one of the few times in his life, which was shocking to him, to say the least. He laughed and said, "Helms...I'm better at lying than any book you will ever find...trust me..."
He heard her next question and cringed inwardly. He didn't like talking about Lily all that much. It still pained him that he hadn't seen her since they had kissed that night in the kitchen. No one knew about it either, and James intended to keep it that way until he figured out if it meant anything, or if had just been a random thing. He shrugged and said, "I just call her Evans...I usually just try and stay out of her way for right now....I still think she hates my guts..." He didn't know what else to say. They had always called each other by their last names...until that night. That was the only time they had called each other by their first names.
He looked at his broom for a second and took a deep breath. He loved being here, and he still couldn't believe that he would be leaving at the end of this year. He shrugged, telling himself that everything would be fine. He smirked at Kacie and said, "Fine Helms, you got a deal, I won't tell either..." He smirked and knew neither of them would tell anyone. Kacie didn't like James all that much to start with, so he knew she wouldn't tell, and if James made a promise like he just had, he wouldn't break it.
The next thing he knew, Kacie was off flying at breakneck speed. He smirked as he watched the trick she did, and shook his head. Man, she was going to kill herself one day doing that. He shrugged, guessing that at least if she died doing it, she would die doing something she loved. He smirked and said, "Ok, now that one you have got to teach me..."

James had been looking around but his attention snapped back to Kacie as he heard her voice. He looked surprised by her cold hearted attitude towards the members of her own house. Then again, he should be. There was hardly ever a rare occasion in which a Slytherin openly hated their own house. He shook his head, looking as if he were stiffiling a laugh. He smirked and said, "Awww, you insult me Helms...you know full well that Sirius and I would make sure we got everyone and cause bloody hell if we ever got into that common room..." She smirked at the mention of Sirius, her green eyes lighting brightly in remembrance and impatience. She couldn't wait to see him again, but, until then, she would have to settle for the letters. She knew it was true, what James had said. He and Sirius would probably like nothing better than to get into that house and cause some hell. Sirius would probably like it just a tiny bit more than James, as he hated all the Slytherin almost as much as Kacie did, excluding his brother Regelus. She had learned that Sirius merely felt betrayed by his brother, not hatred. "Yeah, I know," she replied with a smile. Potter shifted his gaze into the night and then back to Kacie and smirked and said, "Yah Helms...I picked up on it...." She smirked, not bothering to reply to the comment.
The 7th year saw the smile that came onto Kacie's face, and he seemed to be surprised to see the look on her face. She felt a bit uncomfortable under his gaze, though she didn't mention anything about it. She merely averted her gaze to the sky, the smile vanishing once more. James shook his head and said, "Awww, come off it Helms...you told me to name someone who didnt think you were a goddess....and I did...thats all..." She rolled her eyes, shaking her head as he shrugged. "Yeah, you're right. I just like to make you feel bad," she joked. Potter laughed and said, "Helms...I'm better at lying than any book you will ever find...trust me..." She rolled her eyes, a bark of a laugh escaping through her lips. "No wonder you don't get on with Evans. She wouldn't believe a word out of your mouth." She replied.
Potter shrugged at her inquiry and said, "I just call her Evans...I usually just try and stay out of her way for right now....I still think she hates my guts..." Kacie smirked at him. "Do you ever think it's because you call her 'Evans'?" She suggested, "Try calling her Lily once in awhile. This whole surname nonsense is bland, impersonal, and frankly, quite rude." She hoped that he didn't take it the wrong way, it was simply how she saw things. You called people you didnt know well by their surnames, or people you disliked with a passion, not people you were planning to go out with.
He looked at his broom for a second and took a deep breath. He looked deep in thought for a moment, then shrugged. He smirked at Kacie and said, "Fine Helms, you got a deal, I won't tell either..." He smirked and she knew that neither of them would tell anyone. Kacie didn't like James all that much to start with, after all, though he was beginning to warm up to her, and Potter cared about his reputation too much to taint it with stories of having things in common with a Sixth Year Slytherin. Almost randomly, in order to bring her thoughts away from the Slytherins, she asked, "What kind of music do you listen to?"
Kacie laughed madly as she flew threw the air, almost hysterically. Flying had always given her that giddy feeling, like chocolate on a bad day. She did a few more flips in the air, and repeated the earlier trick of releasing her broom, landing on it gracefully as she came closer and closer to the ground below. She flew back up to her original hight, a large grin on her face. She knew it was dangerous, but frankly, she didn't care. Life was about taking risks, and there was no fun in playing it safe. One of many reasons behind her becoming an Animagus. She was soon met again by the presence of Potter, and she had almost forgotten his existance until he was just before her. He shrugged as he watched her, and she grinned impishly at him. "What a rush!" She laughed. He smirked and said, "Ok, now that one you have got to teach me..." She smirked, "You just have to put faith in your broom," she replied. After a moment of silence, she added, "Casting an automatic summoning charm helps to, I suppose."

James laughed softly to himself, glad that Kacie knew that he and Sirius would take care of it. He would have been extremely disappointed if she had not known that, because pretty much everyone knew. The marauders had never passed up an opportunity to play a prank on anyone, let alone a whole house. Even if the house hadn't been Slytherin, they would still go and prank them, just for the heck of it.
James once again looked out into the night, and then glanced up at the stars. He and Sirius used to do this alot at his house, and he missed it. He and Sirius didn't have much time to do it here, plus they had both agreed long ago that they wouldn't do it here, for fear of getting caught by the other students. They really didn't want anyone spreading rumors about them or anything. Kacie's voice brought him back to reality and he smirked, laughing softly before saying, "Yah yah....I already got that part Helms....you don't have to keep telling me..." James sent her a mock glare and said, "Awww, come on, I don't lie all the time....I actually barely lie at all...unless I'm trying to get out of trouble...then I lie.."
James shrugged and said, "I dont think it has anything to do with what I call her. She calls me Potter....and that doesn't stop me from liking her..." He sighed softly, wondering why Kacie was actually giving him advice. Was she starting to sort of see him as a friend? He shrugged it off and said, "Maybe...I don't know...I've been trying so hard to change and everything...and she doesn't seem to see it..." He thought about it for a second and said, "Yah, your right....guess I should probably try that next time....thanks....." Maybe that would actually work, he wasn't sure though.
James heard the next thing she said, and it kind of threw him for a loop. She wanted to actually know stuff about him now? He shrugged to himself and then said, "I listen to all sorts of music...I don't really have a favorite type.." He thought for a second and then said, "What about you? What kind of music do you listen to?"
James once again watched her doing the flips and shook his head. She was a daredevil, but hey, he was the same way. He and Sirius both were. He smiled softly and said, "Alright Helms...I'll have to give it a try..." With that he raced off, and then did a flip and laughed out loud when he landed it and yelled, "That was awesome!!!"

James laughed softly to himself, and Kacie soon found herself chuckling quietly in response. James once again looked out into the night, and then glanced up at the stars. He looked lost in thought, contemplative, and Kacie felt she shouldn't intrude on his thoughts. Unsurprisingly, her thoughts drifted to Sirius. She sighed wistfully, quietly as she stared into the night. She hadn't seen him since that night at the lake, though the letters she recieved helped a bit. She sometimes found herself confused by the feelings she felt as she read. She would be amused, ecstatic that he had brightened her day with a few simple words and a signature, yet saddened by the reality. He was far too good for her, and she couldn't help but wonder why he wanted to even speak to her in the first place. She often found herself missing his company, though they had only had one face to face conversation. That also happened to be the first time they'd ever spoken without the presence of others. James smirked, laughing softly before saying, "Yah yah....I already got that part Helms....you don't have to keep telling me..." Kacie merely raised an eyebrow at Potter, already tired of the conversation. Though he seemed interesting at times, she felt that this conversation was going nowhere. If he was trying to impress her, it was no longer working. James sent her a mock glare and said, "Awww, come on, I don't lie all the time....I actually barely lie at all...unless I'm trying to get out of trouble...then I lie.." Kacie snorted, giving James an incredulous look. "And how many times on average do you get in trouble a day?"
James shrugged and said, "I dont think it has anything to do with what I call her. She calls me Potter....and that doesn't stop me from liking her..." He sighed softly, looking at a loss at what to do. He should listen to her. Though she didn't have much of a love life herself, she knew what she was talking about. All she knew was that she did not want Sirius to refer to her as 'Helms' all the time, and she had a feeling that Evans must feel the same way. Potter shrugged and said, "Maybe...I don't know...I've been trying so hard to change and everything...and she doesn't seem to see it..." He paused for a moment and said, "Yah, your right....guess I should probably try that next time....thanks....." Kacie smirked impishly at him, "No problem," she replied, a hint of sarcasm in her voice as she went on, "I'm always right, Potter. You should know that by now." Potter shrugged to himself and then said, "I listen to all sorts of music...I don't really have a favorite type.." He thought for a second and then said, "What about you? What kind of music do you listen to?" Kacie sighed monotonously. "Muggle rock," she replied, "And if you tell anyone, don't think I won't hesitate to show Evans a box of Extra Small Trojans with your DNA in it." She threatened mildly.
Potter smiled softly and said, "Alright Helms...I'll have to give it a try..." With that he raced off, and then did a flip and laughed out loud when he landed it and yelled, "That was awesome!!!" Kacie grinned and laughed loudly at the sight. Potter looked like a small child that had just discovered it was Christmas. "See! All it takes is trust, Potter! Soon enough, you'll be a pro at it. Just don't use it during your games. I copyrighted that move!" She shouted, a bark of a laugh escaping her.

The black haired seventeen year old glanced around once again, studying his surrondings. He could hear the crickets in the distance, and he heard the water moving in the lake. He loved this time of night. Usually there was no one else out here, but hey, he didn't mind having the company tonight. It was the good kind of company. He really did like talking to Kacie, and he had a slight feeling that she was beginning to like talking to him, although he was pretty sure that she would never admit it. He turned his attention back to her in time to see that she had also seemed to be thinking about something, although he obviously didn't know what. He also didn't think that he should ask. Yes they were talking civilly now, but if he pried, she might really hate him again. He heard her voice and sent her a smirk and then said, "Not as much as you think Helms....we usually don't get in that much trouble once they find us...Sirius can usually talk them out of giving us too many detentions...and we usually only pull one prank a day, so...the most I have to lie is once a day...." James sent her a thankful look for giving him that advice. He could have basically any girl he wanted, but when it came to Lily, there was just something missing, and he was pretty sure that Kacie had just given him the answer he needed. He was slightly surprised when she told him that it was no problem, but decided not to push it. He smirked at the next thing he said and said, "Yah yah...Hel....Kacie..." He had decided to try it out. It felt good to call her by her first name, and not her last. He smiled as he heard her answer to his question about the music. So they liked the same kind of music to....another thing that they had in common. He looked at her in shock as she threatened him and laughed and said, "You wouldn't dare...but alright...I promise..." Once again, he had to go and promise not to tell anyone anything. The only good thing was, when he made a promise, he always kept it. That was one thing James was good at....not breaking promises. James laughed at himself for being so stupid about doing a flip, but he had never done one before. He smiled over at the Slytherin and smirked and gave her his puppy dog eyes before he said, "Oh come on Kacie....I want to do it during a game...please? "

The black haired seventeen year old glanced around once again, studying his surrondings. Kacie could faintly hear the crickets in the distance, and she heard the water moving in the lake. She had to admit, this time of night was peaceful for her, and she often found herself somewhere along the grounds of Hogwarts at this time of night, simply searching for something to do, something to get her mind off of things. Hearing the sounds of nature as you let your mind wander was a very relaxing thing. She much prefered it to spending "quality" time in the Slytherin Common Room, as that only seemed to make her more tense. She hated Slytherin enough as it was, and she would not tolerate the blasted house for as long as absolutely necessary. She was instantly riled from her thoughts as she heard Potter reply, "Not as much as you think Helms....we usually don't get in that much trouble once they find us...Sirius can usually talk them out of giving us too many detentions...and we usually only pull one prank a day, so...the most I have to lie is once a day...." Kacie snorted, rolling her eyes and staring incredulously at James. "Exactly! That's 365 lies a year, Potter, so you can imagine how reluctant she would be to believe anything you say. One thing that I know she'd appreciate above all else is honesty. It's probably the only thing she cares about, and not having trust in the truth is a very good reason for her type to shy away from yours."
James sent her a thankful look for giving him that advice. She grinned impishly in reply, silently glad to help. It was good that she was helping someone recieve their happiness, especially when she could not recieve any for herself. He smirked at the next thing she said and replied, "Yah yah...Hel....Kacie..." Kacie smiled at that, nodding. "See? You're catching on...James," she added hesitantly. It felt strange, calling him by his first name aloud, almost like a foreign word she did not understand, but she supposed it was nice, in a way. Almost like she was gaining a friend. Though she would never allow herself to believe that a Gryffindor would want to associate themselves with her - she still did not fully believe that Sirius was serious about wanting to become friends with her. She couldn't help but crack a small smile at the thought that had just run through her mind. It was a bit strange, that there was a boy named Sirius that wasn't serious. Almost like how Iceland was green and Greenland was icy. Total opposites. He smiled as when she gave him her answer to his question about the music. He looked at her in shock as she threatened him and laughed and said, "You wouldn't dare...but alright...I promise..." Kacie smirked, overexaggerating as she glanced from side to side, dropping her voice to a deathly whisper. "Good," she replied in a mock-grave tone, "Because I've been known to keep 'promises', too." And with that, she leant back, letting out a bark of a laugh as she went about glancing at the scenery of the school grounds once more.
James smiled over at the Slytherin and smirked, giving her the strangest 'puppy-dog-eyed' look as he said, "Oh come on Kacie....I want to do it during a game...please?" Kacie shook her head, replying, "Nope. Unless you pay a fee, give credit to me, let me hex you after the game, and allow me to use the move first during my next Quidditch match."

James pretended to scowl at her as he heard her words. He knew she was right. Women were usually always right. This was just a fact of life that James had come to learn. He knew that if there was anyway to get to Lily, it would be to admit to her that she was right about him, or had been right about him. He wasn't the same anymore, everyone could see it. Or well, almost everyone. He thought about Kacie, and how she still seemed to hate him. Couldn't she see that he had changed since that last time he had played a prank on her? He knew that she had warmed up to him slightly, which made him feel better nonetheless. He looked at her and frowned before saying, "Yah..I know Kacie...but everytime I do tell the truth, she doesn't believe me..." He took a breath and said, "Not that I blame her, but still...I've changed, and she still hasn't seemed to notice...and I've been trying my hardest to get her to notice...."
He briefly found himself wondering why the hell he had just said that. He had never really talked to anyone about his problems with Lily. Well, anyone but two people. Remus and Sirius were really the only two who knew how much he had changed, and who he trusted enough to talk to about Lily. They might not understand what he was going through exactly, but thye sure knew how to help him through it. He looked at Kacie and sent her a soft smile as she called him James. It looked to him as if they were both warming up to each other a little bit. It felt good to be calling each other by their first names, and not their last. James couldn't help but laugh softly as he heard Kacie talking about how good at keeping promises she was. He had already figured that one out. He had never heard a rumor get started from her, or had never heard her talking about someone else.
He looked at her, his eyes wide in amazement and shook his head before saying, "Geeze Kacie, thats a long list of requirements..." He shook his head and said, "Fine..I promise that if I do the flip..you can do that stuff or whatever....but thats only IF I do it..."

James seemed to have a mocking scowl on his face, and Kacie merely grinned impishly in response. She knew she was right. She was always right. She knew it was a cocky thing to think, but when it came to these things, other people's love lives, she knew what she was talking about. She only hoped that Potter took her advice, and soon. He looked at her and frowned before saying, "Yah..I know Kacie...but everytime I do tell the truth, she doesn't believe me..." Kace smirked, "Then tell more truths than lies," she suggested, "Promise her something cheesy. Like, for every lie you tell, you tell ten times more true statements, or dye your hair pink for a week. Something you know will make her smile at the thought of." He took a breath and said, "Not that I blame her, but still...I've changed, and she still hasn't seemed to notice...and I've been trying my hardest to get her to notice...." Kacie sighed, "Maybe that's your problem," she observed, "She's so used to you being around constantly that she doesn't pay you any mind. Stop hanging around her, and she'll notice the absence, in turn, noticing you. Simple as that."
Potter looked at Kacie and sent her a soft smile as she called him James. Though she hated to admit it, she found herself warming up to Potter a bit. She was beginning to see that he wasn't as bad as he looked, and he really seemed to be trying at gaining some sort of frendship with her. Though she doubted anything would come of this night leading into any sort of future friendship, she found it a bit relaxing, a break from everything almost. Tonight, she wasn't a Slytherin. She was Kacie. She was free. Potter laughed softly as he heard Kacie talking about how good at keeping promises she was. At the sound, she knew that he could sense the light threat behind it. She smirked.
He looked at her, his eyes wide in amazement and shook his head before saying, "Geeze Kacie, thats a long list of requirements..." Kacie raised an eyebrow at him. "Damn right it is," she replied. He shook his head and said, "Fine..I promise that if I do the flip..you can do that stuff or whatever....but thats only IF I do it..." Kacie nodded, albeit, reluctantly. "Alright," she agreed, "But if I catch you pulling that stunt before me, don't expect me to visit you in the bloody hospital wing."

James looked at the 6th year Slytherin as he heard the advice she was giving him. Well, she was a girl, so she would know what a girl wants, and what he might be able to do to get himself out this mess he was in with Lily and try and set everything straight. He smiled and couldn't help but laugh at the image of him with pink hair. He decided that that probably would not be one of the things he told Lily, but hey, it was nice of Kacie to at least be offering to help him with this stuff. He listened to the next thing she said and thought about it. Maybe that was the problem. Maybe he should just give her space like Kacie suggested. That just might work. James sent her another smile and said, "Thanks...maybe I'll try that stuff...anything is worth trying.." That much was true. Right about now, he would try anything to get Lily to give him a chance.
James once again marveled at the fact that Kacie was actually warming up to him. Besides that fact that she was a Slytherin and that if anyone saw them out here together, the whole school would be in an uproar because of the inter-house rivalries and all that happy stuff. It was good to know though that he could have friends outside of his own house, or semi friends anyway. Something deep inside of him wondered if Kacie would ever truly be alright with him. Sure they couldn't hang around too much at school or anything, but maybe over the summer she could come visit him and Sirius at his parents house. Then again, he might never get the chance to invite her if she went back to hating him after tonight.
He laughed once again as he heard what she said. He looked at her in and gave her a puppy dog face about her not visiting him in the hospital. He said, "You know you would eventually come and see me Kacie.." He didn't know if that was really true or not, but hey, it was fun to see her reaction. He did another flip and then smiled softly and said, "Well Kacie, it was fun talking to you...I'll catch you later..." He waved as he walked across the Quidditch field and then put his broom away. With one last look around he sighed softly and went back into the castle, hoping that he would be able to get to sleep now.
